So who watched

I recorded it and just watched it with dh. Basically, Andrew Lloyd Webber (always thought he was a prat, haven't revised my opinion) looking for a new Maria for The Sound of Music in the West End.

Oh it was lovely - you must watch. I cried my eyes out at this lovely 17 year old called Bryony (the sort of 17 year old you fear doesn't exist any more) who had such bad nerves, but knew the role inside out and was Maria - and ,bless her, came back on at the end even though she'd been rejected and said "can I have another go?" (she said in the musical Maria says "when God closes a door he opens a window" and she was trying to find the window...)

Even dh shed a tear...

I can't wait for next week's. Did anyone else watch it???

Bugger me, it's 20 to 1...how did that happen? (Well, I worked til nearly 11, and then drank wine and watched TV and came on MN...talking to myself again )

Night night, lovely ladies (and soph, really well done...completeing a dissertation when you have a small child is no mean feat).

Did anyone watch today? I was glued and even let dd stay up for the 9.25 one.

yes! was great wasn't it. I have been singing 'the hills are alive' for the last 10 mins. Cannot wait for the next episode, just wish i'd seen tuesdays too. This is my new favourite programme for definite - it's like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kitens da di da di da. Feelgood and then some, aaaaah sigh!

I'm sad that Briony went though. But happy that the chippy one with the choppy dark hair went (was it Kirsty?). Shame for Siobhan, too, being ill all week. That Emily definitely does have a bit of an attitude - complaining about having to sing 'The hills are alive' again - if she wins she's going to have to sing it twice a day for 6 months, so what'll she do then ?

I love this programme. Was shocked that Briony went and think the girl with bad attitude should have gone instead, she is awful.

I want the shop girl to win, can't remember her name, was it louise ?

That David bloke is a bit of a tosser though isn't he. He actually said when picking the girls 'i'm thinking with my wallet and something a bit lower down' ...tosser.

I liked the blond one with choppy hair who said she was always the bridesmaid - thought she was wholesome but slightly geeky - very 'maria'/julie andrews looking. There should be more of this kind of reality tv. I loved 'musicality' too.

I was glued too, unfortunately it clashed with the dinosaurs for DH and DS, so I was relegated to small screen...I must be tone deaf, I had no idea when they were in tune or not. I hope it is as entertaining when they go for the public vote. Quite surprised several of the last ten we haven't really seen at all.

vitomum · 05/08/2006 22:29

i know what you mean littlemadam. they all sounded pretty good to me. I will end up voting for whoever creis the most.

I like the redhead (COnnie?), the Rumanian girl and the one who taught herself to sing. Can't abide arsey Emily.
Love the music when ALW bustles in to interfere, I can't look at him without seeing his onion spitting image puppet.

I thought it was great too - made me cry at the end (maybe pregnancy hormones of course!) but I think it's so much better than Pop Idol or something like that. Already wondering whether I should go our next saturday as I don't want to miss it

BTW I thought Emily had a bit of an attitude problem too - she must have had to take criticism when she was at music school or wherever she went?
