Anyone else watching? I saw Monday's but didn't realise it was on every night. I'm hoping to catch up on yesterday's and this evening's episode tonight.

OP posts:

I loved the bright flowery paper room best - the colours and paper were fabulous, though I wasn't keen on the garden bench in there. The musical room was transformed - so much lighter and more inviting, but shame it wasn't finished. Liked the curtain material and the storage (but not the way he had painted it) in the family room, and I didn't like the fireplace in the parrot yellow room - not because of the colour, it just looked too boxy and not in keeping with the house itself.

I loved the green wallpaper room, but the yellow fireplace was a bit much for me- rest of the room was amazing though.

Oh no, I'm watching the older laydees with their toyboys, CremoWink

OnePlanOnHouzz · 05/02/2014 11:39

I just want to add on here - in case any of the 23 people who didn't get through read this thread - you all tried and that is great ! you weren't given a fair shot at it really - in the real world no one would expect you to paint and sew yourselves or to come up with a design without seeing the room first hand and meeting your clients ! certainly not on a 3 day turnaround too !! so I hope you aren't put off by this experience !! good luck and best wishes to you all !!

noddyholder · 05/02/2014 11:56

Agree one plan that show was about makeover against the clock not design

OnePlanOnHouzz · 05/02/2014 13:41

Exactly !!

BrianButterfield · 05/02/2014 13:48

I've really enjoyed it - I like the DIY element of it because it makes it more accessible to me; I don't need to makeover a whole room but I've had inspiration for cheap ideas for things to put in frames and how to hang them and watching it made me realise that storage/organisation can transform a room so I've been working on that! Love it and hope there's another series - it's entertaining but not dumbed-down.

Cocolepew · 05/02/2014 15:26

I think Susan and her paint effects on furniture is a bit 80's Hmm.
I'd love the use of one of the builders for a week, they can do everything!

noddyholder · 05/02/2014 16:52

Just watched it on catch up all were terrible this time although the guy with the music room does seem to have good ideas. Susan's was shocking! Who went through switched it off!

Cocolepew · 05/02/2014 17:56

Susan and Jordan went through.

cremolafoam · 05/02/2014 19:25

Shall refrain from spoilers then BTM Grin

Bitofkipper · 06/02/2014 09:10

I'm waiting to hear what you all thought of the result.

OnePlanOnHouzz · 06/02/2014 09:23

my other half was pragmatic about the whole series - saying it was just a bunch of DIYers playing at being professional, but that you could tell a mile off that they hadn't got a clue ! no one in their right mind would pay for that sort of service !
I have a softer approach - they had some great ideas - and could maybe study some more and maybe even work with a true interior design professional who could mentor them . I think if someone wants to get into this business they need to know a lot more than how to paint and stick string to vases etc !
it was interesting - some cringe worthy moments ! some laughs and some great historical interest ! I think the person that won ( no spoilers ) is hopefully sensible enough to know that there's more to going into this as a profession than simply wining a TV show .

I thought the winning design lacked soul.

Bitofkipper · 06/02/2014 13:26

I was fascinated by the winners own kitchen, it was falling apart behind her.

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2014 13:27

Yes, I didn't think it was quite right. I liked the other hallway better, but that stripey roomShock

It was just a bunch of DIYers playing at being professional, but quite interesting to see their ideas and also the history interest.

ggirl · 06/02/2014 13:47

loved the stripey room , that is quite an 80's look
my favourite room was the blue guest bedroom

noddyholder · 06/02/2014 14:00

The winner was too crafty I don't think anyone would pay for that which is the goal as a designer. Its the sort of thing my mates used to let me do for free when I was about 19/20. But they don't have much time and so finish suffers. They were lovely houses though

noddyholder · 06/02/2014 14:01

I agree bitofkipper it was filthy and falling apart and very very dated.

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2014 14:41

Yes I agree, the crafty look isn't really the same as a proper finished interior designer look.

Re the kitchen - a bit like a builder who never has time/motivation to do their own place!

OnePlanOnHouzz · 06/02/2014 16:31

shame - they should have given her a prize of having a pro come in and makeover HER home !!
