Winterkills, that did make me laugh! The standard vs deluxe assassin kit. Grin

HazeltheMcWitch · 13/01/2014 00:27

But the standard assassin kit included the same perfume as Lady Whatshername? Or is it just coincidence that they wore the same scent. Or is it a clue?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 13/01/2014 00:30

Mary didn't know it was all filed away in CAM's mind though - she wanted him to give her back the 'evidence' he had on her. Sherlock turned up - she didn't want Sherlock/Watson to know her secret - so she shot him (but non-fatally).

Sherlock only shot CAM when he found out that the Appledore vault was actually empty. Because it was all filed away in his mind.

winterkills · 13/01/2014 00:32
Grin

Have to say that was the most monumental pile of bollocks I've seen - well, probably ever. So I suppose that's a compliment in a way...

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 13/01/2014 00:34

Oooh - you're a tough audience Grin

plus3 · 13/01/2014 00:35

Well I loved it and Sherlock's Dad wears a bow tie. Bow ties are cool.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 13/01/2014 00:35

I'll be off back to the 'we love it' thread now... Wink

Starballbunny · 13/01/2014 00:47

Christ, that was better than last weeks wedding drivel.

FreddoBaggyMac · 13/01/2014 06:54

Here's my twopeneth worth regarding speculation for the next series... We still don't know the real Mary, the fact that she's an assassin is just her smaller secret... she is in fact working for Moriarty, and the baby is not John's but Moriarty's!!!

LucyLasticBand · 13/01/2014 06:54

last weeks was writen by stephen tompson or something, one of the writers, the first week mark gattis and last night steven moffatt.

was so good last night
WOW. indeed

Lozcat86 · 13/01/2014 07:32

I loved it, and I liked all the time inside sherlocks head. Also had me laughing quite a bit too my DH was very confused though bless him Grin

stinkingbishop · 13/01/2014 08:53

Can I just point out ladies that I called this in the first episode!!! If you paused Sherlock's deductions when he met Mary, it said liar and expert linguist...plus cracking the code for the bonfire...pointed to her being a spook.

I may write to Sherlock and offer my services. So to speak.

That bit where CAM licked Lady Smallwood's face was possibly the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Ever.

Must have been a horrible taste of foundation when CAM did the licking. I read somewhere ages ago that MF calls BC Cumberlord. Brilliant!
DH and I both loved it.

CinnabarRed · 13/01/2014 09:13

Re shooting CAM, I think Sherlock had already suspected that the vaults were empty. But he needed 'proof' to 'free' all the victims of CAM's blackmail. You can't prove something doesn't exist, so he had to engineer a situation where CAM admitted that the vaults were empty on front of witnesses. As soon as CAM had said as much, he was no longer a danger to the establishment. But he was still a danger to Mary, so Sherlock killed him - to protect Mary and, by association, John (Sherlock's only true weakness).

winterkills · 13/01/2014 09:40

But the evidence must actually exist for CAM to store it - Lady wotsit's husband had written letters, 'Mary' had been an assassin or whatever the heck she was supposed to be so there would be files on her. Somewhere in the world all the stuff existed so it's not as if he was destroying it all by shooting CAM.

If 'Mary' is so notorious then Mycroft would have a file on her - didn't they say she worked for the CIA (or had I had too much ginger wine by then?).

This is the sort of thing Sherlock used to be really good on, part of what made it enjoyable were little details and observations and that's part of what is so disappointing now.

And it used to be creepy, unnerving - the face-licking, and face-flicking wasn't creepy, just disgusting and pretty ludicrous.

Finabhear · 13/01/2014 10:10

CAM did have actual letter is in pocket, he showed them, sort of, to Sherlock. So where are they kept?

Misspixietrix · 13/01/2014 10:34

Sherlock was trying to convince whatshisface that his pressure point was drugs. Which obviously didn't work. Mycroft hasn't been handed over. The laptop was password protected and he never handed it over. The password that is. I'm confused as hell as to how Moriarty is still alive but i'm also a teeny bit glad because he is a brilliant baddy. i'm still pissed neither Sherlock or Watson bothered to clean the living room after the Pee Incident! Details matter! Grin. I think Mary is going to help Sherlock bring Moriarty down. Again.

AndiMac · 13/01/2014 10:42

The idea that Mycroft wouldn't have fingerprint ID to access his laptop is also ludicrous.

bleedingheart · 13/01/2014 10:54

I'm prepared to suspend disbelief with this because it races along and gets me involved.

I enjoy the mind palace bits, adds some interest, a different dimension.

Finabhear -CAM said he 'sent out' for physical proof when he felt he needed it.

stinkingbishop · 13/01/2014 10:59

The letters weren't the actual letters. Just a bluff.

lljkk · 13/01/2014 10:59

Why didn't Mary merely kneecap SH? Just as disabling but less likely to kill.

CAM was probably bluffing with the props.
Why would Mycroft take the laptop with him at all to his parent's Xmas do?
Oh well, finding plot holes too much like shooting fish in a barrel.
I enjoyed most of it, but didn't like the comic book ending with Moriarty's return.
I dread the inevitable "Mary and baby in peril" future storyline (yawn).

Do people really like crime detective series where the psycho baddy stalks & targets the very detective trying to catch them, or one of their dearly beloved? I find that the most enormous turn-off in fiction. Twee and deathly dull.

checkmates · 13/01/2014 11:28

checkmates · 13/01/2014 11:31
