Has anyone watched this? I've just watched both episodes back to back. Was in tears at the end thought it was absolutely fantastic! Grin

Watched both parts in the hope that it would get better but it was just far too predictable

Recorded this and watched both episodes back to back. What a load of old tosh! As it had the brilliant David Morrissey in I thought it would get better but no such luck.

Not for me, I watched them back to back but got bored. I think it would've made one good programme.

I loved it and thought most of acting was great, apart from Sean Mcquire (if that's his name, the boyfriend) Was a bit ridiculous at the end, not keen on that bit (2 years later) but thought some of the emotions shown by the others were quite moving :)

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2014 21:36

I quite enjoyed it but really did not like the end: it was like a cop out. Either lazy writing or did the run out of time and had to wrap it up?
I liked Maggie's rant rather a lot and did not think that the serene happiness at the v end sat well with that.

I didn't think there was any chemistry at all between them. Had to hide behind a cushion at the sex bits. Toe curling.

Agree with Pacific about Olivia Coleman though. She is one of our best actresses. She was the best part about it.

There was another long thread about this the other day, lots of mixed views, I have been a 'Sally' regrettably when younger, then a 'Ryan' years later, but I ended up with my OM, after ending things amicably with exH, best thing I ever did I still feel the same butterflies for him 3 years on. I cried in places in it too :)

Here's the other thread

Loved it! I've never really been a fan of Sheriden Smith, until now, her acting was great. I do love this cliched storyline though; whether it be on TV or in a book! Smile

David Morrissey - fit as fuck, official.

daimbardiva · 09/01/2014 22:19

I really enjoyed it - interesting how polarising it seemed to be. I thought all the acting was really good (even Sean McG - convincing portrayal of possible the world's most irritating man...) and I have discovered a previously unknown passion for David Morrisey - how have I never noticed him beofre?! I thought that they had great chemistry together. OK, so it wasn't the most original thing ever, but it was well thought out and well made.

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2014 22:26

Nope, DM does nothing for me, nada, zilch - I struggled to see what the rather attractive Sally character saw in him Grin. But yes, her boyfriend was just dreadful and quite creepy once he started going on about how she was never going to spend another night away from him - controlling nonsense.
