I love David Morrissey. My god there's so much on telly tonight I'm beside myself!

Swedish Grin

Morgan · 07/01/2014 22:02

Couldn't agree more cop out and unrealistic - everyone's happy except Ryan I suppose - have an affair and no consequences apparently . Shame as I like DN normally .

nipersvest · 07/01/2014 22:02

i was quite enjoying the last half hour of that when it all got interesting, but the 2 years on bit just left me cold.

verytellytubby · 07/01/2014 22:02

Shit ending!!!!!!!!

MikeLitoris · 07/01/2014 22:06

Very disappointed.

ihavenonameonhere · 07/01/2014 22:06

I had an affair (I was single and he was married) Something I deeply regret but I did think it was quite realistic especially as he was a lot older than me (19 years) and a little bored whilst I saw him as an older worldy guy. It ended up with a lot of broken hearts, he is back with his wife now who found out and I am moved on.

I would never do it again but I think it was quite realistic

CrestaRun · 07/01/2014 22:06

Well! If only Real Life was that utterly convenient. The ending let it down for me.

PrinceRogersNelson · 07/01/2014 22:06

Ooh that's made me cross. So basically he had an affair, but no dramas, wife'll forgive you and you can look back on it with a smile. How horrible.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 07/01/2014 22:09

Meh. I got quite upset when Ryan got violent, and I was happy Sally made the right choice there. In fact I think she was the most sympathetic of the two of them. But yes, why on earth did Maggie take the slimy git back?

nevergoogle · 07/01/2014 22:09

Bad ending.

What should have happened is that the wife when asked what she would tell the kids should have replied, "your father is having an affair, our marriage is over, i'm sorry he has also betrayed your trust and risked our family but I have to do the only thing any self respecting woman should do in this situation and have asked him to leave, here's his number if you want to continue your relationship, but i'm out".

His children should have told him in the cafe that they had lost all respect for him and that they think he is a cunt.

Dopey old sean maguire should have demanded a DNA test but refused to have any further relationship with her other than to parent the child (if it's his). He would go on to find somebody who loved him back.

And Sally should have taken some serious time out to figure out what the fuck she was thinking, and concentrate on her child, not on any relationship.

sparklysilversequins · 07/01/2014 22:10

I liked the ending. Everyone ended up happy. Unrealistic but better than the endless devastating crappy outcome of RL.

CrestaRun · 07/01/2014 22:10

Ihave - I had one too, I was married & OM was single. I left my husband & married the OM.
I had really bad dreams last night after watching Part 1, it was very realistic I thought.

I have never done anything like that again; the falllout was truly horrendous & if I could turn back the clock I would.

Farewelltoarms · 07/01/2014 22:12

Gosh it's odd but when i was watching I thought oc should have not told the children but lived a sham marriage until the son had done his a levels.

I am clearly a total idiot who has sacrificed any sense of self on the altar of my children's education.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 07/01/2014 22:13

I thought it was quite good although a bit sad really. I wanted them to be together and Olivia Colman to find somebody else too. I think DM 'settled' at the end, 'a road most often travelled' and so did OC. They were less realistic together than DM and SS who I thought had real chemistry. I know we were seeing completely different scenarios, ie. long-time wife/husband a bit bored with each others -v- two people who find each other and fall in love and it's all new and exciting... but it did seem to be a real love affair and not a 'shag'.

I'm glad that SS told Ryan and that ultimately, she didn't stay with him. He was either not listening at all or he really didn't care. He's also a 'hitter'... she definitely shouldn't have settled for him.

BornToFolk · 07/01/2014 22:15

What a fecking shower of shite!

It was horribly realistic in parts and then ended up all rosy. WTAF?!

Cocolepew · 07/01/2014 22:21

I knew she wouldn't stay with Ryan, there was no chemistry between them at the beginning, she didn't want to marry him at all. She got her baby and her way out.

IdaBlankenship · 07/01/2014 22:24

So he gets to fuck up Olivia's life and apart from one night in a travel lodge gets away scot free?? What kind of moral is that - have an affair and everyone will be ok in end? Bollocks. Grrrrrrr

broccolirocks · 07/01/2014 22:26

Disappointing ending. By making the boyfriend violent at the end (before he'd seemed more self-obsessed) somehow let dm and ss off the hook. Huge respect for oc - the 'me too' rant summed up what it sometimes feels like to be a parent.

ViviPru · 07/01/2014 22:30

The baby should have at least had a beard to get us wondering Grin

Yeh was a cop out, but I'm kind of glad it was a happy ending. Makes a change. I often wonder what'd have happened if I'd not demanded my Dad leave 12 years ago. Perhaps my parents could have worked through it too...

OddFodd · 07/01/2014 22:38

Doesn't Sean Maguire play exactly the same character in Scott & Bailey?

CrestaRun · 07/01/2014 22:40

Does anyone know where that beach was when they went to his parent's cottage?

I thought possibly Sussex? Would really like to stay there!

wintera · 07/01/2014 22:45

Sorry but I don't agree with some posters about how the kids should have reacted. I was 14 when my family was torn apart by my Dad's affair. A few days after my mum told him to leave he came round to see me as I was the only one out of me and my siblings living at home. As soon as my dad saw me he just collapsed crying and so did I. We just cried for ages holding each other. That's the reality of the situation. Its easy to say, well the kids should have said this or that. In real life its all too raw, you don't say much at all. My mum and dad tried to work it out afterwards but it was too late and they ended up divorcing. My dad married the other woman. Both my mum and my dad were a lot happier apart I have to say.

Some of this drama was very realistic but some of it wasn't. Unfortunately they didn't get the balance right which is a shame.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 07/01/2014 22:46

nevergoogle · 07/01/2014 22:52
