He's def punching above his weight. Having said that, I read an interview with the one he's going to be getting with in future storyline and she said all the women on set are a little bit in love with him.

Carla's ex husband (died) was Michelle's brother.

And yes, peter doesn't have an affair with Michelle but he does with another character.
