Or am I just an old gimmer with a period drama fetish Wink

OP posts:
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 22/09/2013 22:28

Is Mary going to appear?

Chubfuddler · 22/09/2013 22:29

And will she come to the lunch looking fucking awesome

Of course

KaseyM · 22/09/2013 22:29

I wish my butler was as nice as Carson. Grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 22/09/2013 22:29

Ha!

And she's in half mourning Smile

LadyHarrietdeSpook · 22/09/2013 22:29

Go Mary!

FreyaFridays · 22/09/2013 22:29

Quick everyone have a fake and remarkably unitelligible conversation before Lady Mary arrives! Actually laughable.

DameEdnasBridesmaid · 22/09/2013 22:30

Yay! Go on Mary

Chubfuddler · 22/09/2013 22:30

I could so write this stuff

A WILL

KaseyM · 22/09/2013 22:30

Go Mary! Shake those old fuddy duddies up!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 22/09/2013 22:31

It's picked up a bit now, it only took...ooh, 50 minutes and about helf an hour of advertisements.

TSSDNCOP · 22/09/2013 22:31

Well, overall I enjoyed it. We complain every series that Ep 1 is crap and then it gets great. Bring on next week.

LadyHarrietdeSpook · 22/09/2013 22:32

Plus I enjoy the threads as much....

TSSDNCOP · 22/09/2013 22:32

Chub you need a Sunday night name change to ChubJF it's been like sitting with Mystic Meg Grin

Chubfuddler · 22/09/2013 22:32

I love it. I love it being ploddy and predictable and then one of the ones who can really really act (DMS, Penelope Wilton, Phyllis whatsit) does something wondrously perfect and I get a happy glow.

TheBookofRuth · 22/09/2013 22:33

I actually felt a bit sorry for Lady Mary and Mrs Crawley. Everyone going "come on, move on, get over it" - it's only been six months! If DH suddenly died I'm not sure I'd be up to getting out of bed six months later.

Moln · 22/09/2013 22:34

excellent, sitting through 573468 adverts was worth it

earthmother33 · 22/09/2013 22:35

I love Mr Bates!! I actually love him! Ohhhhhh Mr Bates!!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 22/09/2013 22:35

Actually that's a point... how long was a wife supposed to be in mourning for at that time?

hudyerwheesht · 22/09/2013 22:35

I did enjoy it too, wasn't there a not very subtle theme of helping others though? Smile

Eagerly awaiting the whole jazz scene and accompanying scandals to come. The dresses are going to be gorgeous(as ever).

Chubfuddler · 22/09/2013 22:35

To rewind there are death duties because twatty had given Matthew half of everything already to show that they were partners.

takeaway2 · 22/09/2013 22:35

Loved it.

Thanks to MN for alerting me to the start of this series! Looking forward to next one.

To bed I must! Hectic day/week ahead! Grin

Chubfuddler · 22/09/2013 22:35

Six months in black, six months in lavender.

Babieseverywhere · 22/09/2013 22:37

Mary is still in morning. Purple, lilac was acceptable morning colours after a while of dressing in black.

HarderToKidnap · 22/09/2013 22:37

Daisy must be rising thirty now. Why are they still portraying her as a teenager?

Chubfuddler · 22/09/2013 22:37

TBF bookofruth in 1922 the entire world could have been in frozen mourning given what they'd gone through. Chin up carry on was the order of the day.
