Can you recommend a series?

Going in for c section next week and want to download a really good tv series in case I need something to take my mind off not having a drink for 8 hours or so.

I like: The White Queen, Sherlock, Rome, Falling Skies, Greys Anatomy, Cougar Town, Brothers and Sisters. Also character driven crime/thrillers (nothing too gritty).

Any ideas?! Would be very grateful.

I think you'd like Weeds based on what you've said. I'm hooked. It's on Netflix up to season 3 and I've just bought season 4 from amazon.

Good luck with the C section Smile

The good wife. Only just got onto it and its brilliant. I never fancied it but its fantastic!

BlingBubbles · 11/08/2013 18:56

House of Cards with Kevin Spacey, just started watching it and I am hooked. I also like the same series as you and would recommend the following
The Killing, Game of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy.

Good luck

I was wondering about the Good Wife, will give it a go. Hadn't heard of Weeds. Off to google! Thanks a lot both. Might as well stock up to get me through night feeds too Wink

House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Both Netflix originals.

I watched the first two episodes of Orange and had to watch the whole season in rapid succession.

forcookssake · 11/08/2013 19:04

I'd really recommend Bones-that and Grey's Anatomy are my favourite series. Strong characters and compelling story lines Grin

I second the good wife. It's fab and there's loads of it. What about the Tudors?

MiaWallace · 11/08/2013 19:16

I watch all the first season of Orange is the New Black in 2 days.

I've just started watching Breaking Bad and watched six in the last 2 days.

(Box set/Netflix addict and bad sleeper)

Already seen Game of Thrones (love), Bones and Tudors. Going to download a bit of the Good Wife, Weeds, West Wing and Orange is new Black.

Gone from dreading having to wait to looking forward to a bit of tv time. Grin

Mad Men

vix206 · 11/08/2013 19:55

Ooh yes Mad Men is a must too!

Doshusallie · 11/08/2013 19:58

Another for mad men

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 11/08/2013 20:01

Did someone say Madmen? I envy anyone watching the series for the first time it's so great

sapphirestar · 11/08/2013 20:03

Dexter?

itsababslife · 11/08/2013 20:07

Case Histories? (love Jason Isaacs Smile)

SoYo · 11/08/2013 20:10

Did you ever watch private practice(greys spin off)?

Whatevertheweather · 11/08/2013 20:11

Homeland is excellent

whyno · 11/08/2013 20:12

Ha I watch too much tv! Already done Mad Men, Private Practice and Case Histories and liked them all.

Breaking Bad and Dexter a bit too gritty / black for me.

SoYo · 11/08/2013 20:19

Ooh yes, Homeland is great.

SoYo · 11/08/2013 20:20

There was a series a while back called Lipstick Jungle that I liked too (and I love trashy American dramas).

superbagpuss · 11/08/2013 20:24

I loved house

feel a bit sad now its all over
nothing else has interested me as much

reggiebean · 11/08/2013 20:28

Orange is the new black... It is amazing!

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 11/08/2013 21:16

I loved Lipstick Jungle too, like a SATC spin off, such a shame they cancelled it and in such a poor way.

whyno · 11/08/2013 21:24

Ah well I know 99% of people disagree with me but I just hated SATC so Lipstick Jungle maybe not for me.

OP posts:
SoYo · 12/08/2013 20:01

I wasn't a big SATC fan either. The characters in lipstick jungle are much less annoying but the topics are equally shallow so I guess it depends why you didn't like it.
