And it's a 2 pm start, not 1 as I thought.

Quite looking forward to it really, and I think Lipsticki will have the crowd on her side but Bartoli had made a lot of new fans.

Dh has decided we are having a barbequeHmm. Last time he did that, he invited his brother over during the final of the French! Shock.

There are doubles finals too- will post order of play when not stuck on my phone.

She didn't want to hang out with the other players, they don't like her on court style, she's not media friendly or savvy, and she is often joked about as being fat and ugly Hmm

Mauresmo also got a bad press for being out and proud back in the day. The French media are still very sexist and obsessed with appearances. Today's match was the first women's match to actually get masses of attention.

Raahh · 06/07/2013 16:14

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Maryz

just grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Don't tell, Raahh, but that post's been deleted and the apostrophe in the title is still there.

Raahh · 06/07/2013 16:16

I remember when Mauresmo first appeared- there was a lot of comment on her appearance here too. That she looked very masculine. I get the impression probably from Bonsoir's posts that the French are very concerned by appearance. Which is really unfair. (and probably not true)Grin

Clay- GITS!!!!

See, it's definitely because I'm not a Murray fan.

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2013 16:19

And i called them gits. Grin

I'm going to get banned, now, aren't I?

petite, that's so sad, I hope they can be proud of her.
I suggets she employs Murray's PR firm.

ClayDavis · 06/07/2013 16:19

I think it's because it's spammed across the board, including the RIP Bernie Nolan thread. Hmm

Stila · 06/07/2013 16:20

Raahh he just looks so exhausted in that clip - but still manages a laugh

Petite well , hope that her win today comes as a poke in the eye to them .

Raahh · 06/07/2013 16:20

Clay- that's awful. I hate spammers.

The doubles isn't going to script either...

OP posts:
ClayDavis · 06/07/2013 16:34

There's some bad mojo on centre court today.

Raahh · 06/07/2013 16:36

isn't there just.

There is a bit of a flat atmosphere, which is sad, it's the final.

OP posts:
ClayDavis · 06/07/2013 16:45

You expect to see 6-1, 6-2 sets in grand slams. It's inevitable because players are meeting players that are ranked much higher than them. You don't expect to see it in the final. (Unless you're playing Serena maybe).

noddyholder · 06/07/2013 16:48

Even though it is great to see new players come through I think a final and semis without a 'champion' is always a bit flat.

Raahh · 06/07/2013 16:48

I hate to see bagels in the final- and yes, in the absence of Serena, I hoped the last match would be tighter.

OP posts:
ClayDavis · 06/07/2013 16:55

From the look of the last couple of games it could have been much tighter. Lisicki got completely overawed by the situation. She's relatively young and inexperienced and she'll learn from that but it didn't make a great match from a spectator's point of view.

Raahh · 06/07/2013 17:44

My internet connection keeps dropping. I will be most upset if it happens tomorrow!
