She has worked her ass off her whole life to become the best and I managed to achieve that against all odds. It sounds ridiculous to me to hear people say they dont like her because others essentially aren't good enough! I suspect she doesn't fit the idea of a tennis champ for a lot of people!!! As an avid sports fan this is something that is not seen in any other sport or with any other star. Her continuous reign says more about thw quality of competition than her surely? ??

Episode, FWIW, I hate the way the "Williams sisters" are lumped together as one entity, when actually they are very different. Williams-bashers talk about their power and the fact that it's all wham bam - total nonsense. It's not just strength at all - with Serena certainly it's placement and precision and shot selection which also make her great. They are also extremely different physically - the way people some people, go on about them, you would think they were identical twins.

Episode, it's not that I don't like her. I just enjoy a slam more when there's competition. I certainly have nothing against her winning, but will enjoy seeing who will win now the competition is more open.

I think its the same in every sport - the more successful, the more people want the underdog to win!

Yes it probably does say more about the quality of the competition Episode, but I'm talking about it from a spectator's point of view, not a fellow competitor - a bit of variation and competition is more interesting to watch. I don't deny her work ethic or talent or any of that stuff.

Well ill come out in her favor and say she has at least 3 championships left in her! She's an incredible athelete for her age and injury history...Dont get too used to her loosing to fast. I hope they both get the respect they deserve after they retire. They are both tennis legends and I hope they go some way to change thw diversity of the game and quality of the players

Lord I'm not saying I want her to disappear and lose everything. Just mixes it all up.

They absolutely deserve all the plaudits. Their talent is superb

Youzhny has been around awhile, been as high as about number 8, certainly top 10. Tendency to lose his temper.

I am not a fan of Serena at all, but I have to say she is most likely the most gracious player on the tour. She clearly said something complementary to Sabine and waited to walk off court together. You don't see too much of that these days. Well done to Sabine, played a great match.
