Tbh, Ferrer is obviously my second choice, in the absence of Nadal. I'd love him togo further- but Del Potato is great, and relatively young, so I won't be too unhappy if he beats David.

I may be imagining it, but I think Potato is being a bit tentative with regards to his movement.

Today is actually the first day I have been able to watch the tennis. Damn work.

I have an enormous amount of respect for Serena the player. She is a genuine ground breaker, and one of the all time greats. The amount of casual racism people direct at her is jaw dropping (I'm referring to no one here).

But she's hard to warm to as a person.

I don't dislike her at all. I admire her enormously, as an athlete and what she has overcome.

I just think as a tennis fan any competition is far more exciting when one player's domination is broken.

Feel exactly the same over Federer/Nadal going out.

lisicki Radio 5 interview is priceless, she is blubbing "I'm so happy " . I've got a tear in my eye too for her she's nearly overcome. She's managed to finish the interview though

Lady - I agree, I'm not a Serena fan, but the tournament needed her. I bet most people would be hard pushed to recognise half of the women left in. The Williams' sisters , like them or not,have done a huge amount for the game,it's just a shame they are often seen as a bit arrogant (Serena in particular).

There are so many empty seats on court one, s'not fair. I would kill for one of them. Well, not quite but still.

There are people watching DelPotato wearing strange wigs- not sure if they are meant to be McEnroe wigs. Do you think they realise he isn't playing,?

Raahh - absolutely. I have really enjoyed their contribution over the years, I just think we need to get more players in real contention now, potential winners, rather than finalists.

Much like the men's game is now - 3/4 years ago if Federer/Nadal was in a final, you'd know the result depending on surface. NOw there are a good 8/9/10 really able to win slams.

has Laura Robson given an interview yet?

I knw more of her outside of the court than in and I wouldn't consider her as arrogant!!! Both the Williams sisters come across as hard workers, lovers of tennis and very soft! No way are they untypical of a sports star in any profession. I genuinely feel this has more to do with stereotypes than actual payment personalities but thats another conversation altogether! Just thought I'd ask

Seize at hair, my DD2 puts little plaits and white roses to hold them just like Lisicki although she's a dancer and a gymnast not a athletically built tennis player.

Episode, I don't dislike her, but there doesn't seem to have been anyone to rival her and I do like a competition where there is competition iyswim.

The reason I'm glad Serena is out is that her presence becomes a bit predictable/boring, so whereas you can't help but admire her prowess as an athlete/tennis player, I relish a bit of variation.
