Shock

This is a thread for all fans of the weekday soap Doctors, BBC1, 1.45pm. However, it's taking its annual break from 21st June until it returns on 22nd July.

Therefore, us fans are waiting patiently in the virtual waiting room.

  • Mrs T is rearrrrrrrrrrranging the leaflets
  • Zaniel are getting frisky in the cupboard (again)
  • Al is spying on Jas eating her lunch (disclaimer: he may fancy the lunch more than Jas)

So regulars please sign in and take a seat. Newbies very welcome indeed as we plan to keep the thread going by talking drivel throughout the break. 'Tis fun Grin

I have visitors this weekend therefore instead of being up-to-date with Doctors I am trying to make the house look presentable. By presentable I mean chucking everything into cupboards.

I wish I could keep my house tidy all the time rather than a mad dash when people are coming round. Maybe I should invite people round every other day so that I keep on top of things?

MrsReiver · 26/07/2013 17:21

My DS1 has finally found someone who will listen to him talk about Minecraft - 5 month old DS2. I just plonk him in the bouncer next to DS1 and he listens, captivated while his big bro pontificates about mining coal. It's fantastic. The DSs are happy, so I am happy.

Raahh · 26/07/2013 17:29

I think worse even than Minecraft, or being talked to about Minecraft is being subjected to youtube videos about Minecraft. And parody songs.

DD1 has been trying to talk to me about rock or something.

It's dh's fault.

MsNobodyAgain · 26/07/2013 18:00

Oh god yes, the songs. I make DD wear headphones but then she sings along badly

I asked DS1 what he wants for his birthday. Yep, he said Minecraft.

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/07/2013 19:41

it's dd1's birthday in August. She's 7 and having her ears pierced. Shock

This is of course something I could never mention on any other thread.like the tv in her bedroom Grin

She also wants a 6 month membership to Moshi Monsters.
I'm really not MN material, am I?(has only taken me 7 years to realise this)
Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/07/2013 20:19

Raahh Shock

I don't like to mention that DD's favourite "restaurant" is McD's

Just watching Thursday's. Very WTF so far.

MsNobodyAgain · 26/07/2013 20:34

Grin Raahh and Anne. Tick to most of the above apart from ear piercing, only because DD is a wimp.

I'd be wary of subscriptions to anything. I gave in and bought DD a years Moshi Monster magazine subscription. She stopped playing it about 3 weeks later. Grrrrrr!

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/07/2013 20:35

Thursdays was quite odd.
I am disappointed that after a 4 week wait, this has been pretty dull week. But today's was fairly bizarre, in a starry way.

Grin
Raahh · 26/07/2013 20:41

MsN- dd1 is quite low maintenance, so I don't mind spending £20 on the Moshi monster thing. But I am fully expecting her to get bored after a weekGrin.

Stupidly, I am letting ds 'camp' in her bedroom tonight. I'm not expecting much sleeping. It's better than bickering, I supposeGrin

It will make it tricky for the tooth fairy though. I can't believe how many teeth she had lost already!

MsNobodyAgain · 26/07/2013 20:47

I've just realised my new reading glasses make me look like Olive from 'On The Buses'.

OP posts:
MsNobodyAgain · 26/07/2013 20:49

It's a lot easier when the Tooth Fairy myth is busted. You just hand the money over straight away still lie about binning the tooth though

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/07/2013 20:50

Don't post that on Style & Beauty, MsN. Grin

MsNobodyAgain · 26/07/2013 20:53

Raahh · 26/07/2013 20:55

Olive[ grin]

My glasses make me look like Deirdre Barlow. Or my mother. I'm worried my mother is actually Deirdre barlow[ grin]

Raahh · 26/07/2013 20:57

Stupid phone!

Grin

I've served Anne kirkbride, aka Deirdre a number of times in shops I've worked in. She's a right diva!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/07/2013 21:10

I have tried to watch today's twice, I've seen up to mashed being in Al's office and the waiter touching 6tls pudding and nothing in between!

I'm not really hot on what is mn'y or not, what's prob with 7 year old having wars pierced?
Dss was minecraft mad but its passed now, his mum lets him play CoD on his Xbox but no way I'm having that here!
Once they don't believe in the tooth fairy no way I'm paying!! And I don't bin them, I have a little box for each of dss and ds1 Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/07/2013 21:17

Haven't seen today's yet, was too busy blubbing at Corrie. Now watching Big Brother.

My mum has just bought a pair of Deirdre glasses. Got a big shock when I saw her on Skype!

Raahh · 26/07/2013 21:21

Oh cinnamon - ear piercing is akin to skinning puppies on MN. Grin

I am trying to watch 'top of the lake'. It's strange. And dh is hiccuping really loudly. I'm ready to Ltb, franklyGrin

cinnamongreyhound · 26/07/2013 21:26

I was 7 when I had mine pierced after lots of work on my dad from my mum and myself! I joined mn to get step parenting advice 8 years ago and got fed up of non-step mums turned up and being really horrible so stopped bothering. Found it really useful in bf ds1 and joined an antenatal thread when I had ds2 and generally stick to a few threads.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/07/2013 21:54

I was about 10 and a half, and within the first 6 weeks when you have to keep them in I caught one on the elastic of my school hat and ripped it out. Shock It hurt a lot. I took the other one out and let them heal over and got them done again when I was 15.

DD's school don't allow pierced ears so I can hide behind that excuse to avoid her getting them done until she's 11.

HoggyTruffle · 26/07/2013 22:17

I have just about given up on watching Doctors for the next few weeks.

Ah, minecraft, glasses and ear piercing, all topics of conversation in my house.

From what I can see, minecraft is a very dull game consisting of different coloured building blocks but you can grow crops and breed pigs. DS was playing it with his friend today and there was a lot of arguing about stealing gold from a chest and throwing sticks Hmm.

DD would like her ears pierced but has an extremely low pain threshold. We live in a naice area and there would be a lot of smack-bottom faces from other parents if I sent her to school with lovely ear rings Grin

Lastly, I must give in and admit I need glasses to read. Is the "Olive" look the in-thing?

MsNobodyAgain · 27/07/2013 06:41

No Hoggy, it's the result of going glasses shopping alone.

Looks like the walk-in centre for me and DS2 today. Temperature of above 39 for 3 days. Sigh. I've really had my fill of illness and doctors but needs must. Sad

OP posts:
toldmywrath · 27/07/2013 16:33

Sorry to hear about DS MsNo hope he gets sorted at the walk-in centre.
I have no idea what Minecraft is luckily
Olive eh?

HoggyTruffle · 27/07/2013 18:03

Hope that DS is feeling better soon MsN. I've always wondered how you are meant to pick frames for glasses when they don't have the lenses in so you can't see yourself Confused.

You are indeed lucky told in your ignorance of minecraft. DS has also downloaded a game called dragon vale and has to keep checking to see if his dragons have bred yet Hmm.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/07/2013 19:33

Wishing your ds well MsNobodyAgain!

My dh is older than me and he is gettin long sighted but will not go to the optician. I made him an appointment but forgot it, when I told him I'd forgotten he said I know I remembered but didn't say anything Shock he's a 47 year old child!!!!

Babysitting tonight so may try to watch doctors on my phone while its quiet. Supposed to be working while I'm out so I don't have to do it while I'm with dh, so cant be bothered!!!
