Just watching this and finding it a bit sexist. The wife/mother is the one having to justify the dirty house while her husband stands behind her. When she says she has 2 children, one at school and one at home, he asks her what she dos all day?..fucking idiot

Maybe she is overwhelmed looking after 2 kids, she would have been pregnant whilst looking after a toddler, probably hasn't had a god night's sleep for years.

They're both to blame, but I agree the whole thing is framed disgustingly towards blaming her.

Why is her DH happy to live in a shithole? Why is it all her fault?

TrinityRhino · 20/03/2013 20:42

I know that you're waiting for someone to say this but I still think its valid

she may not be just lazy, she may be depressed

I know that I'm lazy to a point but I have struggled with reigning in my laziness in the past because pf my depression

nancy75 · 20/03/2013 20:42

Oh come off it recall, my aunt has got 8 kids, she would die if shame if her house looked like that. What do you think should happen? She should sit on her arse all day while husband works, then he should come home and do the cleaning? That sounds fair.

CuriousMama · 20/03/2013 20:42

Blaming him? Grin

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/03/2013 20:42

My DH does 50% when he's here. I don't half clean stuff and wait for him to get home to finish it. This woman is making lame excuses for being lazy. The husband did seem like a bit of an arse, tbf, complaining about the mess and then looking bewildered instead of, I dunno, hoovering or something. I couldn't live in that dirt.

Chippychop · 20/03/2013 20:42

She's a lazy cow! No wonder she's crying! I'm a SAHM my house is not like that, partnerships should be 50/50 my Dh works I keep House so that we can both enjoy QT at the weekend. It would be the same if I worked and he didn't

Kay is different she has awful baggage poor thing, such a nice person!

BMW6 · 20/03/2013 20:43

Nope, now the arrogant lazy slob is addressing his "issues" grrrrr

CuriousMama · 20/03/2013 20:44

Our village is doing a community clean up this month. Hope I get a litter picker though.

Guntie · 20/03/2013 20:45

I think she needs to be a bit introspective here...

recall · 20/03/2013 20:45

How is she sitting on her arse all day with 2 children.

Who tends to your aunt's 8 kids while she is cleaning ?

I became similarly overwhelmed, and decided to employ a cleaner for 4 hours a week. I would rather pay him to clean, than pay a childminder to look after my children while I did it.

CuriousMama · 20/03/2013 20:46

Yes Kay's lovely.

BMW6 · 20/03/2013 20:46

Depressed my arse Trinity !!

Guntie · 20/03/2013 20:47

That's perfectly legitimate recall! She could do the same if she didn't want to do it herself. Otherwise she needs to do it herself and enlist her DHs help if she feels she can't manage on her own.

nancy75 · 20/03/2013 20:48

It is possible to keep your house tidy and look after your kids, my aunts house has never been allowed to get to that level of filth, so she doesn't have to spend hours doing it everyday, if you just do a little a day it not hard to keep on top of. I hate this idea that if you have a clean house you neglect your kids, it's crap.

Mollydoggerson · 20/03/2013 20:49

I can't believe the lazy bird started pshycoanalysing the cleaner guy. No wonder her house is so filthy, she will do anything to avoid getting stuck in.

pigleychez · 20/03/2013 20:49

I have 2 girls, 21 mths apart and my house has never been that bad!
Im in no way a clean freak but if you keep on top of things then its ok.

Yes it can be tough keeping on top of everything with two small kids but to let it get that bad means its not been touched for a very long time.

That hob was rank! I dont use alot of chemicals but a quick wipe round after using it will keep it clean.

Our toys go under the sofa but they get moved roughly every other week and the toys put away. Its not that hard.
I think shes trying to use the children as an excuse.

TrinityRhino · 20/03/2013 20:50

lol fair enough, I haven't watched it mind

I have it recording to watch later

I must say though that I would never ever have gone on tv and shown my house to the world when I was struggling

actually I wouldn't do it now

BMW6 · 20/03/2013 20:51

Recall
One child at school. One at home with her.
Children do not need to be glued to your side every waking moment you know,
they take naps. They can be put in a playpen to, well, play!! Whilst there and safe you can clean THAT ROOM so keeping an eye on them while doing your job.

It's not rocket science.

Guntie · 20/03/2013 20:54

There is no way she is keeping this clean..

nancy75 · 20/03/2013 20:54

Oh and the oven hasn't been cleaned for six years and the oldest child is four?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/03/2013 20:55

The house is actually lovely. Really cosy looking.

Guntie · 20/03/2013 20:56

So happy for Kay :-)
