Great sumary, maitre - thanks so much.

I'm a great francophile - one of my favourite wine bars is just behind the law courts on the Ile de la Cité! - and used to visit French civil service for work, so know roughly how their legal and political system works. All the more annoyed with myself I didn't 'discover' Spiral before - but really good to have your sketches of the characters which make a lot more sense of it all.

Thanks too teejwood. That's a really good deal on Amazon. Will take advantage of it and hoard them to look forward to when I have a bit more time - realistically, probably after this series ends.

There´s a site called "Dare TV" that I've just watched Series 1 & 3 on...

oh no when was series 3 broadcast? I watched series 1 and 2 and thought I had missed some key things only to find out that I have missed an entire series

Silver The 3rd series was on BBC4 in spring 2011 I think.

Excellent summary maitre I've forgotton so much; will have to dig out the DVDs.

Tonight's episodes were superb as always! Everyone's getting themselves in the shit; Gilou, Roban, Josephine and Pierre. For once, Laure seems to be doing ok!

Can't wait to see the outcome of Roban's case. I get the feeling he's made a big mistake.

One thing I don't really get is why Gilou gave in and gave the Sarahois a gun; he owed them nothing, he could have just reported them for stealing his gun and got it back 'on the record'. They had given him some information but he hadn't done anything dodgy for them. But, then, there'd be no story without his hot-headed fuck ups Grin

Wonder what Josephine's up to? I reckon she's going to double cross the police and Riffaut. But will she drive Pierre away into my waiting arms ?

Love, love, love it!

Soooo glad Tintin is ok, I've worried about him all week. I didn't quite get the present of the leather jacket and why was it so awkward, did he feel they weren't taking his injury seriously enough?
When he was crying in the kitchen I was shouting, ' give him a man- hug Gilou!!!' But of course he goes off to the cellar to collect his illegal Biretta. Bloody Alpha male.

Finally caught up with last week's episodes tonight! V good. Fart - yes I think Tintin and his wife still very shaken up so the 'just a scratch' thing written on the jacket went down like a lead balloon.
Loved where Pierre said 'je suis amoreux d'elle' so quickly about Josephine to Laure - he's nothing if not direct! French language so good in these situations...
Does anyone else think Josephine (well the actress) must have had a boob job? Her dresses are getting more & more ridiculous...
Polyhymnia - Ile de la Cite - swoon. Not been there in years...Paris one of those places we haven't ventured much since DCs arrived! Wink
Agree - the Sarahouis/Gilou thing was a bit silly but yes the plot must continue. Sad about rape victim plot - thought the actress was incredible.

If Josephine tries to double cross that Riffaut she will end up dead in a ditch - hope not. ANd yes I agree about the boob job - possibly since Series 3? We should be told! (special memo to Pierre in case it puts him off....)

I don't like those Sarahouis guys at all, quite worried about Gilou. Especially as Herville will dump him at first opportunity.

I still haven't seen the end of episode 6....who is crying in the kitchen? I thought it was funny whenTintin gave the gang the (bandaged) finger.

Brilliant, as always, last night.

I'm not quite clear what went on with Pierre in the courtroom, though. I thought Jorkal wanted his nephew to retract his statement and go to prison. He disn't, but Jorkal was happy anyway Confused

Strange to see Laure as the doting stepmum! Wonder if she'll fall for Sami again? I'm betting a big fat YES!

Hope we've not seen the last of Marianne. Hope Roban is vindicated and gets her back.

Glad to see Gilou get himself off the hook, he won't have learned his lesson, though! And poor Tintin; though he did return bloody quick after nearly dying.

Good to see Josephine back on ball breaking form with the police but can she smooth it over with Pierre? I think he's going off her, being corrupted by money and power.

Love it Grin

Again catching up late but was a good two-parter...

LaLa, I agree, somewhat baffled by courtroom scene, I think Jorkal left in disgust to save face but was actually delighted with the outcome. Now Pierre is promoted to head lawyer isn't he almost more crook than Josephine?!
Quite surprised Sophie didn't end up dumped on a road somewhere by the ruthless lefties. Some of the plot twists are a bit unlikely.
Delighted to see Sami back and I guess after Laure's shooting lessons for Vincent's kid didn't go down well that that relationship might be on the way out...
Not looking good for Tintin either!

Hey smug - Quelle muppet more like! Sami is not likely to stick around, is he?

And - is it just me or is it vv wierd hearing Gilou being the sober and straight voice of reason Confused - makes me wonder if he could well be a gonner by the end of the season Shock

She has such a thing for gits, though. Can you imagine if she was a MNer? We would constantly be telling her to LTB.

Report
smugmumofboys · 09/03/2013 23:07

Yes, she does have questionable taste. I know what you mean about Gilou - he was Monsieur Sensible. Poor Tintin, he's really not coping.

Did you see the forensics bloke with the fag on? Only in France!

It was a great double ep. Loved Roban's courtroom tirade and Marianne's testimony.

Report
YouMakeMeWannaLaLa · 10/03/2013 22:13

Was tres bizarre to see Roban so animated, he's usually so collected. I hope he comes out on top! Love Marianne too.

Bloody grim scenes with Cetin. Interesting to see all the strands coming together; the revolutionaries and the arms dealers. Wonder what Sophie's going to do...

Laure!? What are you doing? A quick bonk in the car then back to Vincent's for a shower! She's self destructive which is a bit of a shame because it's such a trope that brilliant cops have disasterous love lives but it was really well done.

Poor Josephine! I actually felt sympathy for her; I think the actress is amazing to get that balance of strength, coldness and vulnerability just right. And I liked how she didn't milk it with Pierre.

And talking of Pierre; ooh la la, he should have stayed away from Jorkal. He might have to give up the lawyering and go full time at Selfridges Wink

Can't wait for next week but I'm going to miss it so much.

Re Gilou "They had given him some information but he hadn't done anything dodgy for them. But, then, there'd be no story without his hot-headed fuck ups"

Quoted for truth Youmakeme!

The Souhamis (?sp) may be back in the next series - not sure Gilou is out of the woods on that one just yet.

Do we think we will see Riffault next series, too?

So in summary - Pierre and Josephine out of the shit and into the sack (was lovely to see her really genuinely happy, actually)
Roban out of the frying pan and into the fire methinks. Odds on he will be asked to return the favour next series
Poor Marianne, though! She so thought they would be lovely and cuddly when all was back to normal and instead Roban is trying to get his head around the repercussions of the masonic bomshell and she gets nought! Honestly, Roban - none as blind as those who will not see...

teejwood · 16/03/2013 23:22

Laure's "which man" conundrum is fixed, but somehow I'm not sure that means she will be be playing happy stepmum next series Grin

Also - was Gilou onto a promise with the young female cop or was I reading too much into that?!

Poor Tintin - he's been in the wars this series - "They Killed Kenny" did flash through my mind when he started heading back towards Sami.

Now need to drown my sorrows - given we won't have Sami back next time
