Lazy Town - is it dubbed?

naswm · 23/04/2006 09:27

Is Lazy Town dubbed? I have never watched it properly before today (and then could only bear 5 minutes) but either my tv picture and sound are out of sync, or they are all actaully talking another language. I thought it was American....

Assume so because if you look at the credits it's Icelandic.
And the annoying child star has a US accent so presumably dubbed for overseas sales. Hate it. Ds watches it and doesn't move a muscle. Boogie beebies has him dancing all round the room!

nutcracker · 23/04/2006 09:31

The girls, stephanie is actually american.

Don't think it's suitable for cbeebies- don't understand it myself!

tassis · 23/04/2006 09:49

I agree, snugglebug, seems to old for cbeebies.

intergalacticwalrus · 23/04/2006 09:49

I hate Lazytown with a passion. I always turn it off. Stephanie is almost as annoying as the freaky rubber face woman from Razzledazzle

Ugh, I hate hate hate this programme. Always turn it off, too.

Wtf is it doing on CBeebies - way too old and well, way too crap, really...

mysonsmummy · 23/04/2006 10:00

i must have been watching same one as have never noticed as bad before but it was terrible today. ds never noticed - he loves it.

edam · 23/04/2006 10:08

It's more of an ITV programme.

niceglasses · 23/04/2006 10:10

Its on BBC and Nick Jr I think. Straddles the cultural divide........

My kids love it. Robbie makes me larff and there is some sort of msg there - works on mine, sports candy and all that.

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 23/04/2006 10:11

I don't think its too old for cbeebies, all the 4 year olds I know love it.

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 23/04/2006 10:13

yes exactly niceglasses, ds2 was quite happy to eat some raw carrot the other day to be like sporticus or whatever he's called. Now I know what mnet is like about food and I'm sure there'll be a collective gasp of horror, but if lazytown is a bigger influence on diet than an autistic brother with an eating disorder then great. Bring it on.

Blackduck · 23/04/2006 10:23

HATE IT with a passion - its dreadful....

I couldn't believe it when I tried to hide from it on Nick Jr, and it appeared on cbeebies!

julienetmum · 23/04/2006 22:25

My 4 year old dd adores it. I started off hating it but then as I said to dh I can think of worse things for her to like (Bratz comes to mind)

Stephanie (an American actress) is very annoying but she is a fabulous dancer for her age with a very good technique (as demonstrated in the dance competition episode) so at least she is in the minority of American bratz who got the part for her talent rather than her "cuteness"

Pinotmum · 23/04/2006 22:36

When this first came on I thought it was appalling but dd 5 y and ds 3 y love it. My ds now asks for "sports candy" (fruit) as soon as it comes on and tries to do one handed press ups like Sporticus so the positive message is being received lound and clear this end Smile

babster · 23/04/2006 23:00

I saw this on hols in the US, and only Pixel, Trixie and Ziggy had been given new (American) voices. So I guess it is made in English. Robbie rules!

MistressMary · 23/04/2006 23:01

Load of crap it is. Get it off our screens.

hugeheadofhair · 23/04/2006 23:07

I am actually fascinated by that huuuge chin! I can't help myself

Of course exercise is A Good Thing but Boogie Beebies does the same job without being so blasted irritating. And Charlie and Lola does the 'let's eat a carrot' without all the lurid colours.

But if it helped you out, JJ, then I concede it may have some value. Through gritted teeth. Grin

niceglasses · 24/04/2006 07:55

Yeah but boogie beebies is just plain boring......even to me so God knows what its like for a 4 yr old.

edam · 24/04/2006 07:57

Well, ds loves it so ner ner ner ner ner! Smile

No, honestly, it's aimed just right for under-5s, Lazytown strikes me as more for 5+. On ITV.
