Lazy Town - is it dubbed?

Is Lazy Town dubbed? I have never watched it properly before today (and then could only bear 5 minutes) but either my tv picture and sound are out of sync, or they are all actaully talking another language. I thought it was American....

Yeah think yer probably right. My son is actually obsessed by Sportacus and its been a very positive influence on the hole - lots of jumping around, trying more fruit and veg........but we did have to buy a bloody Sportacus suit for Christmas which he then tossed on a lightbulb and it now has very fetching hole...........

Ps I can do a pretty good impression of Pete from Boogie Beebies.

Pollyanna · 24/04/2006 08:03

my ds aged 7 loves lazy town!

all of mine hate boogie beebies (although I rather like the Shoe Hoe Down Smile)

amber5 · 24/04/2006 20:32

Seems like one of those programmes people either love or hate. Must say I'm loving it atm, although we are quite new to it. DS is 3y and absolutely lurves sporticus. We spent much time jumping around and i embarrass dh by suggesting he does some one handed pushups to show ds how they're done Grin
Niceglasses - where oh where did you find the sporticus suit, we have to have one...

Cappucino · 24/04/2006 20:41

my dh was fascinated by lazytown so he googled marcus scheving, who plays sporticus. we couldn't work out how a children's tv company could say, 'we need a bloke who can do handstand press-ups but it doesn't matter if he talks like a wooden spoon'

turns out that sporticus is not just a pretty ass, he's some award-winning international psycho-athlete who runs a chain of fitness clubs and set up Lazytown to give social and health messages to children

everyone has to find their place in the world I guess

popsycalindisguise · 24/04/2006 20:42

DS1 thinks he is sporticus

sick of hearing ;I am sproticus! I am he!!!'

too vengaboys for my liking

Cappucino · 24/04/2006 20:44

popsy did your dp/dh teach him that?

cos 'I'm Sparticus' is the famous line from some interminable classic slave movie starring Kirk Douglas which all men are obsessed by

popsycalindisguise · 24/04/2006 20:49

no he didnt...
am sure ds1 has been here before though.....:)

Cappucino · 24/04/2006 20:53

fair dos

my dh thinks getting dd to say it is sidesplittingly funny, that's all

SleepyJess · 24/04/2006 20:57

I reckon Stephanie is about 20 personally!! It's bit hard to tell beneath all the pink hair and makeup obviously...

DD (7) has clearly has a crush on Sporticus. He features in her stories she writes lately!

That villian guy has a horrid lecherous toothy leer doesn't he! (DS, 5, is afraid of him(

There was an episode recently when Robbie was pretending to be Sporticus - when they met in front of the town (which consists of 5 people??) they both starting saying - 'i'm Sporticus' 'i'm Sporticus' etc... Obvious rip-off from Kirk Douglas but hey, quite a few kids progs do that don't they.

Cappucino · 24/04/2006 21:32

like when Milo's uncle in the Tweenies wedding was called Uncle Mickey Rooney?

saadia · 24/04/2006 22:40

I think it's weird but ds1 (4) loves it and eats loads of apples now because of it. If we go out he always worries about getting home in time for Lazytown and if we watch it at my mum's or MIL's he's still distraught at having missed the "home" version (confused emoticon).

twokids · 24/04/2006 22:59

saw it today(not by choice) it is very american as they were playing "soccer"

julienetmum · 24/04/2006 23:01

Stephanie is now aged 15 but was younger when the first seried was filmed.

ja9 · 24/04/2006 23:05

ooooh, that program annoys me so much. deffo too old for cbeebies...

Nbg · 24/04/2006 23:07

Sporticus [swoon]

I don't think dd likes it but we still watch it Grin

satine · 24/04/2006 23:08

Just want to ask Niceglasses again where you got the Sportacus suit? My ds would love one...sigh...

pebblemum · 25/04/2006 00:06

My dh hates this program but will sit there watching it while all the time moaning about how crap it is and how much better the kids programs were in our day (we are only 28 ffs)His excuse is ds2 is watching it but majority of the time ds2 isnt paying any attention to it, think dh is a secret lazytown fan Grin

Butkin · 25/04/2006 13:11

We weren't keen when it first came on but DD loves it (she is just 3) and lies on her tummy glued to TV.

We'd prefer if she liked our favourite kids shows (Charlie and Lola, Backyardigans etc) but she doesn't and it is nice to see that she is making her own decisions.

Now we are used to Lazytown it is much better than some of the rot on and is energetic, fun and appealing to youngsters.

We took an instant dislike to Doodlebops on Playhouse Disney this morning (follows Bear in the Big Blue House) so I expect this will prove popular with DD!

hulababy · 25/04/2006 13:16

DD, just 4, loves the singing and dancing in it. Drives me mad, but it is harmless enough. Not sure why it woulsn't be suitable for CBeebies age though???

dinny · 25/04/2006 20:33

dd, nearly 4, adores it. when I first saw it I thought "bleurgh" but I quite like it now. at least it's a positive message. and Sportacus is twinkly and lovely.

and dd thinks Robbie Rotten is fantastic.

maninsweden · 28/02/2008 16:53

You lot have had it easy . Try enduring this series dubbed into Swedish . Much better to turn the sound off .

NoBiggy · 28/02/2008 16:58

The puppets get given English accents for our benefit don't they?

Noticeable in the episode where there's a machine spewing out sweets and the puppets call it toffee, while the live actors call it taffee.

No, I don't get out much.

IndigoMoon · 28/02/2008 16:58

dd love it and goes to sleep with the album on every night
