Reminded me of a female Adrian mole tho tad older but also the humour of inbetweeners

I'm not sure what I think of it as yet though I agree to do all that she was very brave.

have to disagree. found it dull as fuck tbh. i know quite a few 15/16/17 year olds aswell and think they'd be switching over too.

Can´t remember the names of all the programmes I´m thinking of, but she was in Whitechapel, something about a group of friends where someone dies (her character´s husband?), Carrie & Barry, & something with Liza Tarbuck some time ago.

Am still to watch it. The main character is being played by someone who I talk to via Twitter occasionally. Am wantinv good reviews for her as she seems lovely.

i found it upsetting. definitely not funny. some of it was way to try hard. i dont mean the actual events, as i could easily see them happening, i mean the way it was scripted. not convinced by the actress. i dunno. maybe i'm coming at it from the wrong place/angle. it's just my take on it.

I liked it. Agree it's somewhere between Adrian Mole and Inbetweeners Grin . Music good too. But wonder if I liked it as a 40something then its target audience (15-24 yr olds??) won't like it...

I liked it although it reminded me of being a teen and desperately wanting to fit in. It didn't remind me of the inbetweeners at all.

The mum was in mrs Biggs.

Finally got around to watching the first.

It made me laugh although some of the voiceover language was a bit cringey for me (nearly 50).

I´d watch it again, but wouldn´t be too bothered if I missed it iyswim.

I want to slap her MumBlush

Wonder if she was/is that bad or if it´s the daughter´s perception.

Iam definitely not in the target age group but am watching because DD1 is editing. The actress is 22 and looks it (she is very good and a younger girl would probably not be able to act as well) but her age may make it hard for the younger audience to identify with her. Iam enjoying it; it's well directed and written on the whole.

Agree the mother is very hard to like but then her DD wouldn't be so messed up if she'd been more sympathetic (hopefully). BTW It is true.

Love this show, I had mental health problems as a teen (late 20s now) so I can say that it's really convincing and relatable. Massive well done to all involved, especially Sharon Rooney.

I am 24 and I liked it.

I liked the mum to thought she was funny, the on the run from immigration comment and £35 pounds worth of food being chucked back on the table did make me crack up.

I've only seen the first episode but read the book ages ago and really enjoyed it. I'd have thought the target age would be people who were teenagers then (late 30s, early 40s) rather than people who are teenagers now.

I read the book about 5 years ago; it reminded me of myself! I am enjoying the TV series, but I have a feeling the book was set earlier - mid 80s rather than mid 90s, although that would not give it such a good soundtrack.

It would have such an amazingly better soundtrack if truer to the book IMHO! So annoyed Rae is supposed to love bleeding oasis rather than the smiths. The time is now is her song!! So disappointed having adored the book for a few yrs now.
