Thought was brilliant. Very touching and makes you feel sorry for Rae / but gawd she's got guts like the duke box saga - slide in pool and downing a pint of snakebite

God I rem that drink !!!

Based on a true story/diary

Her mum made me laugh with the bloke in the boot - recognised her / what else has Claire rushbrook been in?

Series linked on planner / prob more fun then girls which was also on tonight

Well worth watching this if you missed tonight's

Reminded me of a female Adrian mole tho tad older but also the humour of inbetweeners

Yes I agree. In the book she has a sort of vulnerability. She comes across as bolshy and loud in front of people but when she's alone she wants to look pretty and have a boyfriend. In the TV series she was just bolshy and sullen.

yes that's it you.

also, that scene where she walked into the leisure centre and threatened to punch the person behind the desk was awful. did that happen in the book?

Nope.

i wonder why they did that. i'm guessing the real rae earl was involved in the making of the show and agreed this should go in. i just wonder why they did it? it was uncomfortable viewing tbh. i could understand if they were staying true to the book but to add something like that is odd.

I love the show - but havent read the book so am not put off by differences. I was Raes age when I went to Knebworth & was so gutted for her that she didnt go! Love remembering all the music of my younger days, good times! Really really want her to get a nice boyfriend!

She's not violent in the book and never goes to a leisure centre. The show had a different screenwriter who wasn't Rae Earl so I'm not sure what she would have made of that.

Loving it, but I haven't read the original.

did she really hijack her mum's wedding reception like that?

i dislike her character more and more with every episode. really thought i would grow to like her but it hasn't happened.

Blimey my stomach did a flip on the bridge part

I thought the ending was a bit so so but paved the way for a second series

i did think she woffled a bit at her mums wedding, but she gave her blessing

did like the flashbacks into the future if rae was dead

assume her anorexic friend is still in a coma :(

I dont think was announced til yesterday that there was going to be a second series so I guess they ended it like that so the story was finished incase there wasnt.
I loved it (although didnt see the first episode) and thought Sharon Rooney is a great actress, cant wait til the next series.

did people genuinely think that was good acting from SR? i'm really shocked by this tbh and no-one i know IRL has watched it so that i could get their opinions. i felt continually let down by the acting. i really expected far better.

I thought the acting was great - very natural

Report
Booyhoo · 19/02/2013 23:14

see i thought the opposite. i saw alot of her responding to lines before they were said and alot of repitition of the same expressions where they weren't a natural expression for what was being said. it all felt very GCSE drama class to me.

I know what you mean about the repetition of facial expressions - she rolled her eyes and looked sideways a lot.

I thought all the young people in it were very natural and believable.
