Borgen Series 2

Anyone else looking forward to this starting tomorrow night (BBC4, 9pm)?

I loved the first series and have been using serious willpower to stop myself buying the second series or looking up spoilers online (Denmark and some other countries are a year ahead of us). Have to confess that I have read some articles which give info of some of the plot lines but I won't put on any spoilers other than to say that it sounds good but a bit hard going at times, a lot darker than series 1.

Seriously don't think I've ever been this excited about a television programme, I actually wish the BBC would just show one episode a week rather than two back to back to draw it out for longer!

It was really odd watching the two Statsministers together on screen!

It´s not a good picture, but I love how she has her hair <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=If0&sa=X&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1252&bih=609&tbm=isch&tbnid=6BmqEG2jv12R9M:&imgrefurl=www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/9042669/Borgen-Sidse-Babett-Knudsen-interview.html&docid=8HitO0t9PHwrQM&imgurl=i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02121/Borgen_2121056b.jpg&w=620&h=388&ei=BzrrULzOB4mTswb92oCIBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=937&vpy=302&dur=662&hovh=177&hovw=284&tx=185&ty=78&sig=117809274861365110405&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=196&start=0&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:0,i:123" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">here-sort of like a fan.

Anyone know how to do it?

I think you need some sort of bun type gadget to do that hair style. I'd forgotten how good it is, the acting is amazing and it is so moving at times. It puts British drama to shame.

Anyone else screaming at the scream for someone to ask Bent if he was ok when he was about to collapse?!

Yes I was thinking-look at him-CALL AN AMBULANCE

And then crying a bitBlush

I like Bent!

Bent is so lovely. In fact the characterisation all round is just superb. Will we see more of STB ex do you think? He was a big part of series 1 and it seems a little unbalanced without him. Or maybe the emphasis will be more on Birgitte's relationship with Kaspar.

Yay! It's Borgen night again, looking forward to the next two episodes.

diddl I share your admiration for Birgette's many immaculate but probably-unachievable-with-out-a-hairdresser hairstyles. May look a bit closer at those weird spongey hair roll things next time I'm in in Boots though... I did find myself dressing slightly 'sharper' for work on Monday morning, she looks great despite heartbreak and running the country!

There's a trailer on the BBC4 website for tonight's first episode with Birgette's ex in it, suggests that we're going to keep on seeing him as they work out how to be divorced.

I was really struck by how involved Kasper seems to have become in Birgette's decision making process, he's her press adviser not a politician and in one of he early episodes of S1 (the Greenland one) she made a point of saying to him when he disagreed with something that it was her job to make the policies and his to sell them to the press or something along those lines. She seems so lost without Bent or Philip to consult, and it seems that everyone else is out to stab her in the back as we saw with Kruse last week, so she's relying on Kasper heavily. I can't help but think that it's going to end badly though, he'll make a bad decision on her behalf at some point or maybe go to far leaking information to Katrine and it will all blow up. The script writers seemed to signpost trouble ahead quite clearly showing that Kasper's still lying about his past and Lotte's point about him opening the second bottle of wine. I hope not because I like the way the relationship between Birgette and Kasper has developed, the bit last week where he said "in Brussels no one can hear you scream" followed by the synchronised coffee drinking was brilliant.

Anyway, enjoy viewing tonight.

Tak!

Great acting by the actor playing Troels, could feel his despair rolling off in waves.

I'm obsessed with listening to the Danish accent and the funny names esp, Troels Hoxenhavn. It sounds so Geordie. Can hear Cheryl Curl's 'noo amoonia' hair advert voice in the accent.

Brilliant two episodes last night, all very relevant to us here in the UK - dodgy politicians, corrupt press, bribery, membership of the EU, sound familiar? I love to watch her, she seems to handle everything so confidently, whilst all her personal life plays out underneath, I know I couldnt do it! Really felt for her as she sat on the steps and wept whilst the rest of the family were out meeting the new girlfriend < was furious when she appeared in the flat with the front door key with Max looking for his PSP - would she really be allowed to walk in the PMs house like that? Wouldnt there be security at the door?> - although I guess that is the point, Brigitte is a 'normal' woman living in a 'normal' house - and a relatively normal life, in touch with normal people - loved it when she jumped upon Kim mending the sink!!! Good for her, although fairly predictable that he lost HIS job - lots of parallels with illicit sex,(K and K, Hox and photographer, B and Kim) and the difference in the effects of these liaisons) - so well written......

Haven't read any of the thread but wanted to ask if watching this series without watching the first would be possible. It sounds just up my street but I haven't the money to buy the first series!

Hi - as you can see great enthusiasts here - can you get it on iplayer/catch up etc? I guess you would still enjoy it without the background, but its a bit like the West Wing, in that it spent the last series scrupulously building up the characters and their predicaments, so you might lose the brilliance of it overall - if that makes sense? But give it a go anyway, its fabulous.

Loved last nights episodes.

Did anyone else feel really sorry for Marrot, after all those silly rumours and then him losing it at the seminar. Just really felt for him. Labour lost two leaders in a short time.

Will Kasper and Katrine ever get it together?

Amazing episode. Loved how she jumped her driver, Hanne/Katrine playing detectives, Marrot/Hox drama and of course the tragic ending - poor Troels Hmm

And am loving hating Laugesen in a boo hiss panto manner. What an odious vile man Shockhope he gets what's coming to him at the end of the series!

I have a major crush on Philip, I'm sorry I know he is portrayed as weak and vain, but he is very human.... I can see why she can't let him go. She looked so gorgeous in her leather trousers with her thick tresses, surely they will realise what a mess it all is and work it out.

Agree MooMin - do hope Laugesen gets strung out, but look at Leveson over here, he will retire as a multi millionaire and nothing will change with his paper.

I really miss all Katrine's colleagues at TVE1 and hope, somehow she and Hanne will end up going back there. Right, back to the ironing!!!!:)

Love Kaspar! He's so sad underneath, I'm sure his traumatic childhood will come out at some point this series.

Everything about this show is brilliant.

Kasper must have done something to himself in the intervening months between S1and S2 because he's definatley newly hot! Yum.

Oh god I love the women on this show so much. Best line of he week goes to Hanne "should have thought of that before you started drinking with an alcoholic". Loving the burgeoning friendship between her and Katrine, it makes me warm to Katrine more.

Don't like Philip at all this series, his insensitivity to Birgittes feelings don't fit with how we saw him at the beginning.

Can't wait til next week- is Laugeson going to make another play for the labour leadership?

I have to confess I'm a bit obsessed with Borgen - it's just so well done. I even love the fact it doesn't gloss over the political nitty gritty, but shows the complexity of the important decisions that are made in government.

But I have to watch it on my own - I don't want to share it with any one Blush

Enjoying series 2! Much as I enjoy the crime thrillers, Borgen is so good Smile.

Felt Birgitte's discomfort being ambushed at home in domestic chaos by Philip and gf after two failed attempts when she had the house and herself looking lovely...

Oh dear jumping her driver's bones, scene straight out of Bored Housewife and Randy Plumber. Not in the least surprised when Kim scuttled off to the press after Kasper's clumsy handling of the clearing up.

Will Katrine and Kasper end up together? Imagine Lotte writing in to MN Relationships:
My DP is so secretive, we have been happy but I am beginning to think he is too friendly with his ex, Katrine...

Kaspar loves Katrine, he should just finish it with Lotte and tell Katrine, dammit Kaspar tell her!
