..In case it's rubbish.

It's one of my favourite Stephen King books and it's on tonight. I didn't know it'd been made into a film. Anyone know what it's like?

Some SK books have been awful on film, some better. I'll feel so Hmm if they've messed it up.

I'm waiting for it too. Haven't read the book (I'm a scairdy cat) but I like most of his stuff. I know what you mean about them messing up with some films, (have you seen "Thinner"? Shocking!) I'm hoping its not as frightening as Pet Cemetary or I'll never sleep tonight!

digerd · 29/12/2012 21:17

Just about to put it on. Yes his films are often not as good as the books.
Love a good horror, but not a weird one I lose interest in as too itty bitty.
Pet Cemetry was a bit sick, but did find that compelling viewing.
Is it Spielberg, that makes brilliant horror films?

redlac · 29/12/2012 21:22

It's one of my favourite SK books and I have seen the film it's pants and Piers Brosnan is not and never will be Mike Noonan

BendyBobsBrusselsSprouts · 29/12/2012 21:22

Oh my word- that was horrible Shock

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 21:28

Does SK make a cameo appearance in this like he usually does.

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 21:32

I remember watching Carrie which was made by Brian de Palma ( watch Brian de Palmas film Obsession if you ever get the chance) and then i read the book Carrie by SK when i was a teenager and the book was bloody excellent.

BOFingSanta · 29/12/2012 21:34

I've only read his latest one, the time travel Kennedy one, and I really enjoyed it.

digerd · 29/12/2012 21:34

I remember Mary (?) Rose with Anthony Hopkins.

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 21:37

ooh Mary Rose was a film my parents wouldnt let me watch when i was a kid. Didnt get around to seeing it till i was in my twenties.

redlac · 29/12/2012 21:38

It was originally a TV mini series. Melissa George is quite good and the actress who plays Sara Tidwell is excellent but as it was one of my favourites it could never have lived up to what I had in my head. I am dreading if they ever get round to making films of The Dark Tower or Insomnia

Just seen on IMDB that they are doing a remake of Carrie :(

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 21:41

Oh god no. How on earth do they expect to top Sissy Spaceks performance.

digerd · 29/12/2012 21:42

Or was it Emily Rose. ?

redlac · 29/12/2012 21:44

It's Julieanne Moore playing Carries mum and Chloe Grace Moritiz playing Carrie.

AND someone is remaking IT - not cast as yet but Tim Currys Pennywise will be a hard act to follow

BluelightsAndSirens · 29/12/2012 21:45

I've sol (screamed out loud) twice already.

I used to love a good horror film but I'm literally shaking on the sofa Sad

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 21:45

Audrey Rose. It was Audrey Rose. The one with Anthony Hopkins in about a little girl who dies in a burning car. And they believe she has been reincarnated in another little girl.

redlac · 29/12/2012 21:50

I need to step away from IMDB. There are remakes planned for Pet Semetary, Firestarter and The Stand!!

mrmump · 29/12/2012 21:53

Oh yes, the scene at the end of Audrey Rose when they are transgressing the little girl to her former life. terrifying.

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 21:57

Oh redlac you are joking. Thats ridiculous. Cant these film execs come up with some new ideas.
They should make a film of The Mask by Dean Koontz. I read that as a teen too and it was bloody brilliant.

digerd · 29/12/2012 22:00

Bag of bones is boring me, I'm afraid. It has no continuity. And is too slow.

Pity, began so well. Have seen it before, so recording it as can't remember it all, and now going to bed to stop munching .

redlac · 29/12/2012 22:00

I wish I was joking! Apparently IT already has a director and writer and Ben Affleck is hoping to remake the Stand

Darkesteyes · 29/12/2012 22:00

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mask_(novel)

digerd · 29/12/2012 22:03

Oh Audrey Rose - well I am getting on a bit. Got it in the end thanks to mump.

Piemother · 29/12/2012 22:19

I liked the stand. M o o n spells moon!
