Just starting a new thread before tonight's elimination, as I'm sure we'll all have something to say about that.

OP posts:
chipstick10 · 24/11/2012 20:12

I'm voting dani

digerd · 24/11/2012 20:14

My vote is for Louis and Kimberly

TheHumancatapult · 24/11/2012 20:30

We voted Dani here . Dd likes her but tbh has grown on me and I thought she looked good tonight as well more grown up and I enjoy seeing how her and Vincent get on . Would like to see them Win

Anyone else think back to first show when Brendan was really chuffed he got Victoria but who wants to bet wished had someone else . She is very pretty and obviously talented at cycling but dancing is just not her thing

Horsemad · 24/11/2012 20:31

Completely missed DVO, will have to watch on iPlayer.

EdgarAllanPond · 24/11/2012 20:39

i think Victoria is just too serious a person to warm up to the silliness of dancing - the costumes, the show-yness, the heels - she looks very uncomfortable in heels

and she seems to lack the feel for the rhythmn which is strange as you'd have thought as a cyclist it is all about rhythmn,,,

Louis i would just love to see more emotion from - he's pretty technically perfect.

Rachel - again great.

still i don't feel truly wowed by anything this evening - some have the performance down but not the dance, and some vice versa - no-one really produced an all-round stunner.

Tess dress ok today i thought.

MrsJamin · 24/11/2012 20:42

Nicky - overmarked and now I can't stand him because of his me/myself/I attitude which really stinks
Louis and Kimberly - undermarked
Victoria - she really should be going this weekend.
Michael - better than expected.

Judges annoyed me this week, they seem to have their favourites and vote accordingly.

EdgarAllanPond · 24/11/2012 20:55

i thought that dress looked much nicer on natalie than it did on Aliona - she has fantastic legs, even compared to other dancers.

and i hated Alionas choreography - Harry had loads of talent and she didn't show case it as much as she could.

i may have bitched about that enough last year though.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 24/11/2012 21:02

Every now and then I hear someone say "Oh anyone can dance, you just need to relax/have the right teacher/feel the music" and I think "Have you never seen Strictly?" Every single year a fit, motivated young sportsperson with a highly experienced teacher works their socks off for hundreds of hours only to prove that some people just ain't got it.

Though to be fair Mark "plank of wood" Foster kept at it for several more years and is now apparently quite passable.

digerd · 24/11/2012 21:09

I loved Harry and could see he had great potential, but was so shy at the beginning - I rooted for him every week last year.
Natalie is a beautiful dancer - known as the most graceful and elegant especially in the ballroom -

AndiMac · 24/11/2012 21:17

Sadly, Nicky is the only male celebrity left who seems able to show any emotion when dancing. Colin Salmon was also good at it, just not great at the dancing bit. But Louis is always blank-faced (yes, I saw his attempted snarl in the Paso, but it wasn't much and it was one second) and Michael is too busy counting and keeping up with Natalie half the time.

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2012 21:27

Watched it live as I was keeping my sister updated through her staff ball! Left the room during Brucie's bits.

Dani - I like her but it didn't seem like a samba to me, although it was good. I said to DH that I didn't see any bounce in it which was then contradicted by the judges. Overmarked I thought.

Kimberley - didn't particularly like the tango. Was good but a bit blah. Odd choice of colour for the dress too.

Victoria - nothing against her but it was an awful dance. I always thought she'd have strong legs but there doesn't seem to be much strength in them IYSWIM. Her time to go now.

Louis - dreadful music. Far too slow IMO. He really does need to give it some oomph. He needs a Gethinesque breakthrough. Have voted for him several times

Lisa - thought it was quite nice.

Michael - not bad, not brilliant. Scored a little on the low side I thought but only a bit.

Nicky - hate to say it but it was quite good. Still can't see any connection whatsoever with Karen. Overmarked.

DvO - as I've said before re James's choreography, dull dull dull. Well-danced. Not sure how Bruno could give it a 10 when Len had spotted footwork errors, but I'm biased as I don't like DvO.

Victoria or Nicky can go. I always check the spoiler so I probably won't post again until the results show as I'm paranoid I'll think I've hinted as something!

jennymac · 24/11/2012 22:44

I love Nicky and don't think he is full of himself at all - just naturally confident and open. He was really good tonight and deserved the high marks. Don't think he is the best dancer but glad to see him doing well tonight.

EdgarAllanPond · 24/11/2012 22:45

this dress? not quite the same

EdgarAllanPond · 24/11/2012 22:46

although OMG that womans fan site is unsubtle.

AmIthatScary · 24/11/2012 22:55

Missed it tonight, so will catch up on i-player. Useful to get other's thoughts before I watch it. I take it Forsyth was on form as usual Hmm

TheSmallClanger · 24/11/2012 23:02

Nicky's Charleston was crap, very light on Charleston elements and relying far too much on gymnastics. The judges aren't very clued up on the Charleston, or any of the swing dances which they've included in the past. The hold and stance are completely different to ballroom and latin, for a start.

I felt that Louis was under-marked - he and Flavia did quite a traditional paso with lots of footwork, and although he isn't the most expressive dancer, he did come across as very powerful. He reminded me of one of the Engineers from Prometheus for some reason.

DVO's dance deserved its marks as it was proficient and lovely to watch. However, I don't understand how she was let off her lack of "storytelling" and "Hollywood feel", which others have been criticised for and lost marks.

Michael wasn't great. He and Natalie had decent music, for a change, but their dance relied too much on lifts and dragging Natalie around like a wheelie bin.

Dani was good, Lisa looked a bit lost and Kimberly's bouncy jerky head movements were very distracting. Victoria was terrible and I think she will go this week.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/11/2012 23:07

We voted Lisa at the behest of the DCs. They messed about a lot while it was on tonight so I didn't hear half the judges comments or Too much of Bruce and Tess (small mercies).

I liked Dani but she still doesn't look like a winner to me

Kimberley, there's just something missing, no sizzle with Pasha

Victoria just can't dance very well and Brendan can't compensate enough

Louis - bad music choice, he just can't get into character, again no sizzle with Flavia, she seems more of a mothere figure to him

Lisa - good but not brilliant, again she doesn't look like a winner

Michael - ditto really, looked a bit strained in places

Nicky- that was one of the better dances of the series for him and one of the better ones tonight, good entertainment.

Denise - was very good, but there just isn't a wow there for me, I don't feel anything watching her dance.

TheSmallClanger · 24/11/2012 23:16

There is definitely some chemistry between Louis and Flavia. When they are waiting for the judges' comments, and during eliminations, look at where he has his hands. He also seems to like nuzzling her hair.

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2012 23:19

I agree TheSmallClanger - there is some chemistry there between Louis and Flavia. It's taken a while and it's not that sort of chemistry but there's something there. Thought it was sweet the way he nuzzled (good word) into her hair at the Wemberlee results show when their names were called.

It's time to bring out the acting coach.

Disclaimer: I may have a slight bias towards Louis and Flavia.

EdgarAllanPond · 24/11/2012 23:36

i think Flavia likes dancing with someone who actually leads, doesn't stand on her feet, and has it physically.

he's no Vincent in terms of expression, but he can dance. it's his acting that lets Louis down.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/11/2012 23:48

I agree there is some chemistry with Flavia when they are not dancing but it isn't evident in the performances, apart from possibly the Hallowe'en one.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/11/2012 23:49

I still want Louis to win though, I think he's lovely and Flavia is one of my favourite pros.

AmIthatScary · 25/11/2012 00:55

"I don't like hecklers, I deal with them in a nasty way" Shock

WTF. And he meant it

Bye bye Brucie, I think

Wingedharpy · 25/11/2012 01:59

Aliona is teaching Fabrice Muamba (the Bolton footballer who had a cardiac arrest during a game earlier this year) to dance in preparation for the Strictly Christmas special according to today's Daily Mail.
That should be worth a watch.

Minimammoth · 25/11/2012 06:33

Pleeease can we get someone to sort Brucie. he has to GO. Can't he 'Want to spend time with his family' or be kidnapped or something.
