Who filled up the last thread? Hmm?

All I wanted to say was Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

No!! I don't like him and he's a pants actor.

OP posts:

it´s been quite a tedious series, hasn´t it?

Violet seems to be just nasty now.

M&M are boring.

Lord G is a ridiculous twat.

Could have done something with Ethel but hasn´t & the Lord & Lady G rift-could have done something with Cora-but that was soon resolved.

I wonder if there is something in the contracts that certain characters get more air time?

diddl · 30/10/2012 15:40

Meant Edith, not Ethel.

Animation · 30/10/2012 15:58

Still don't understand how Bates got let off just because some person said his wife made a poisonous pie and then scoffed it. Confused

diddl · 30/10/2012 16:00

Reasonable doubt?

Chubfuddler · 30/10/2012 16:11

His conviction was unsafe because the neighbour gave incomplete evidence to the court. By rights she should be done for perjury.

He may of course still have killed her....

VirginiaDare · 30/10/2012 16:20

There were 10 eps in the series 2, so why would next week (ep 8) be the last? Aren't there three more?

diddl · 30/10/2012 16:43

Didn´t it say at the end of Sunday nights that next week is the last?

Thought that there were only 8 in series 1&2 also?

ZombieArmsDragOnTheFloor · 30/10/2012 17:16

Yes, it did say that this coming week would be the last.

SuePurblybilt · 30/10/2012 17:35

There'll still be a Christmas Special though

SlanketySlank · 31/10/2012 07:35

I just watched that downstairs at downton link 3 times, it's brilliant!

SlanketySlank · 31/10/2012 07:41

Just googled, look like there will be a christmas special and some new characters in it judging by the cast list.

Re the nanny pushing the pram in the grounds. If that had been my DM and DF they would have rushed over - pushed nanny out the way, took GBS for a walk whilst tickling her under the chin cooing 'my little babyyyyy' Grin

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2012 10:04

Of course martha [hgrin] IMO the wet nurse \nanny hasn't got a speaking part (we never see her in the baby's room ) They don't have to pay proper wages to the" non-speakers". Well they didn't when our DDs were on telly.

squoosh · 31/10/2012 10:30

Yep, spear carriers just get the statutory amount that they pay to extras.

MarthasHarbour · 31/10/2012 11:59

oh i loooove how you slipped in that you are the mother of potential slebs ppeatfruit

we shall be seeing you in sleb twaddle in years to come 'mother of DDs in lycra with saggy arse shock' Shock Grin Wink

I think what has happened between Thomas and O'brien is that O'brien had a change of hart with regard to the family after the soap incident, and Thomas came back from the war thinking that he was better than O'brien. I think I remember her asking for help and he telling that she should sort things for her on her own. So there was a clear end to thei alliance. Then, when nephew came in, thomas start immediatly trying to take him down, and O'brien decide to get him back for it.... One may say is a little over the top revenge - but compared to what those two did before, it seems quite tame....

I also tought that Jimme went too far in masculinizing himeself, and made me think..... But then, he clearly have shown dislike of Thomas touching him to O'brien, and I thought he seemed interested in Daisy in the previous episode?
I am confused....

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2012 15:25

Martha [hblush] No they've got more sense [hgrin] they work behind the scenes "controlling not being controlled' is what DDI says. [hgrin] It would be fun though !!

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2012 15:26

I'm not a pushy Mum honest !!!

MarthasHarbour · 31/10/2012 16:12

high fiiiiive to ppeatfruits DD1! [hgrin]

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2012 16:24

[hgrin]

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 01/11/2012 00:46

Soap incident was tripe was it not. What are the chances of 1. Her maj, Cora stepping on soap. 2. Cora slipping on said bar. 3. Miscarriage resulting.
Answer: very slim. Like a sliver. Of soap.

diddl · 01/11/2012 08:16

I think that Jimmy is gay, but the protestations to Obrien are to try to hide it.

Yes the mc thing very very unlikely-& these days we know that.

Not really what the point of that was.

To show up Mary´s doubts?

And yet they are together now anyway!

Matthew deciding he loved her as he was about to marry Lavinia.
This is why I dislike them & hope they end up not being the heirs.

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2012 10:06

But didn't Mathew always love Mary and she him? And because she was being a rebellious teenager, not wanting to please her parents, she said she didn't love him.So he went off and found Lavinia.

I got the feeling that poor Lavie was always 2nd best; lucky for M&M she was rich and highly principled and dead Shock.

diddl · 01/11/2012 10:24

He "went off" when Mary wouldn´t give him an answer whilst Cora was pregnant, didn´t he?

I thought Mary more or less said she wanted to wait & see if Cora had a boy.

Could be wrong though.

They are just so dull together.

Now that everyone is stuck in Downton all day everyday doing nothing, it shows them up for the crashing bores they are!

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2012 10:33

But I LIKE the slower more thoughtful telly and films. (boring old fart emoticom)Grin Though usually the nobility did some time in town AND country every year didn't they?

One subject they don't talk about (which they def. would being as it's a (or was) female heavy family is fashion;bobbing yr hair, shortening the skirts etc. and wouldn't Lord FB have been raging at the short hair and skirts?

Or have I missed the conversation Grin?
