Who filled up the last thread? Hmm?

All I wanted to say was Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

No!! I don't like him and he's a pants actor.

OP posts:

Is there going to be a Christmas special?

tribpot · 29/10/2012 23:21

They all seem a bit lost without a war to fight, don't they? At least Isabel's flying the flag with her socially edgy moral crusades. They could have done a shedload about women's suffrage this season if they'd wanted :-/

The lurve pentagon below stairs is nearly as excruciatingly tedious as the Bates prison saga. I also don't get why Thomas was so willing to believe O'Brien, too contrived for plot purposes.

SuePurblybilt · 30/10/2012 07:22

fuck all has happened? Grin They fit a whole season's plot into one episode. It just feels like nothing's happened.

Bound to be a Christmas special. Apart from anything else, what would be the point of introducing a new character otherwise?

diddl · 30/10/2012 07:23

I do think it´s right for Ethel to leave-but why go behind Isobel´s back?

So-who could work for Isobel?

And Edith resigns next week???

Was that it for her being interesting??

And Thomas-I suppose he wanted to believe it-so he did!

And new people being introduced in the last ep?

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/10/2012 08:34

Can Thomas cook?.............................

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/10/2012 08:35
Wink
ppeatfruit · 30/10/2012 08:36

Yeah it's weird to bring in new characters in the last episode Diddl .

and the 'going behind Isobel's and Edith's back ' is nasty; Lady Violet has a definite nasty streak doesn't she? Poor Edith passed around like a parcelGrin

I like Mary but she's always been a bit meh [hhmm] IMO she's the dowager in waiting and plays the part to the hilt.

diddl · 30/10/2012 09:11

I think that Violet has been quite nasty this series tbh.

Maybe Edith resigning is something to do with the new character´s behaviour & it isn´t accepted?

I like how Matthew seems to be getting on with her.

But this whole "spare Papa´s feelings" from Mary-he´s a fucking adult!!

Obviously now that he has the money again, he is happy just as long as he can hand the estate over intact.

Never mind in what state!

Animation · 30/10/2012 09:16

"And apart from Sybil dying-fuck all has happened really."

Grin

Been more of a socio-economic-psychological drama this time - shining a torch on the prejudice, patriarchy and not so nice traits of the upper classes...and the O'Brien types.

ppeatfruit · 30/10/2012 09:32

Yes Animation I'm a supporter of slow and intelligent T.V. and films (not that D.A. is THAT intelligent but it leaves the soaps way behind IMHO) I'm going to miss it Sad I hope there's a Christmas special.

diddl · 30/10/2012 09:40

I´m not so sure it does leave the soaps that far behind.

There have been some absolute howlers.

ZZZenAgain · 30/10/2012 09:50

of course they will have a Christmas special.

diddl · 30/10/2012 09:52

How about Cora dies, Lord G marries again & produces a son??

The end!

Animation · 30/10/2012 10:06

I will miss it - and hope a Christmas Special will be a bit lighter and airy, and right some wrongs.

Yes, this series seems fixed on highlighting their complete superior complex!! Think they've covered nearly every prejudice that you could discriminate against...disability,age, catholicism, race/Irish/Americans, working women, single mothers, homosexuals, prostitution, medical profession, journalism....

What TERRIBLE people they were!!

Animation · 30/10/2012 10:11

I'd like to see Lord G lose an arm - and see what that feels like!

Animation · 30/10/2012 10:18

oh, and then Cora dies but no woman will want Lord G because he's too old AND he only has one arm...

diddl · 30/10/2012 10:42

Oh yes there will be a CS-to announce that M&M are going to have a baby-awwwwww!

There´s probably a series 4&5 lined up.

Animation · 30/10/2012 11:18

Mary might have to have it off with the 'rough diamond' (Branson's bother) to get pregnant. She said she liked a bit of rough diamond.

Mary and Matthew are not easy to care about right now though - and it's like if she gets pregnant who cares .. they could just help out a bit with little Sybil.

tribpot · 30/10/2012 11:58

Correction: Mary said she was fond of diamonds, not rough diamonds like the Drunk Brother :)

diddl · 30/10/2012 12:04

Yes the Sybil thing-nanny in the background & GPs just ignoreConfused

guess it was a sign of the times.

Can you imagine M&M-can´t agree how to run the estate/how to bring up a baby.

That´s why I wish he´d married MC Lavinia & fucked them all right off!

SuePurblybilt · 30/10/2012 14:36

I think Matthew will shag Edith, she will get PG and they will bring it up as their own. While she flits off to become the Jiz Loans of her time.

GeorginaWorsley · 30/10/2012 14:40

I thought it odd that nanny in grounds and they ignored her!
Didn't even go and peep at baby.
Thought there would have been more of Cora cooing over baby Sybil tbh.
Sppose aristos in 1920's didn't 'do' children much!

Northernlurkerisbehindyouboo · 30/10/2012 14:50

The return of Bates is so tedious. I wish they'd hung him now. Would have been much less painful.

diddl · 30/10/2012 14:55

Edith give up a child to the ghastly Ms???

SuePurblybilt · 30/10/2012 15:12

YY to Tedious Bates. I wish he had perished inside. Even Anna and her suspiciously bright hair is pissing me off now.
Maybe I am Too Grumpy for Downton.
