OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 02/11/2012 22:56

Ooh that was a good spooky end.

Lori looks like she does something dumb next episode, what a surprise Hmm

wintera · 02/11/2012 22:56

Is it just me who can't stand Andrea? Husband is laughing cos I just shouted 'you effing dim bitch' at the tele.

That's some aquarium that the governor has eh? Judging by the trailer for next week, Rick and the gang should have killed them two prisoners when they had the chance.

susiedaisy · 02/11/2012 22:57

Wow another fab episode, harsh shooting all those soldiers, and what's the fecks with all the heads in water??

TwllBach · 02/11/2012 22:59

Oh Andrea is such a whiny loser. Two minutes in a new place and she is already harping on at the cool lady "you know everything about me, tell me you love me, whinge whinge whinge"

susiedaisy · 02/11/2012 23:00

I think women would get a shit deal!

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 02/11/2012 23:01

Why did they kill the soldiers. Surely if you're going to have any new people, soldiers would be who you'd want. Suppose they may have taken charge.

susiedaisy · 02/11/2012 23:02

Yep it would be a power struggle,

ILovePonyo · 02/11/2012 23:04

Soldiers may be too regimented... Have a stronger sense of right and wrong...? Wink

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 02/11/2012 23:07

Overthrow the governor and have them all doing push ups at 6am

wintera · 02/11/2012 23:09

The way they took out those soldiers makes me even more suspicious about why they took in two women just like that. I can't wait to see where it all goes now. Especially when Merle and Darryl are reunited!

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 02/11/2012 23:12

ExaCtly. Either they don't see the women as a thread (best case) or they specifically want them...

susiedaisy · 02/11/2012 23:28

I think they want the women for several reasons, cooking, cleaning, havin kids, etc

NoHank · 03/11/2012 07:55

Enjoyed it again but have to admit I did miss Rick and the gang.

I think susiedaisy has it right about the soldiers. They wanted their guns and ammunition but not them. They might feel they have managed to defend themselves so far and don't want to have to explain themselves to anyone else coming in. It did get my goat a bit the way they kept talking about how "the men" defend the walls and "the men" keep everyone safe. Did give the impression the women were surplus to requirements / not really necessary.

I'd like to think come the apocalypse I will be in Michonne's gang waving around a baddass sword and helping to defend whatever walls need defending not babysitting all the kids or learning to make bread which is probably much more likely Grin

BeyondGoesOffWithABigBang · 03/11/2012 10:39

I assumed it was for breeding, the less tough men could always do cooking and cleaning otherwise. Especially spotting a heavily pregnant woman...

wintera · 03/11/2012 11:16

How funny that Rick's gang are probably the less mysogynistic of the two. Last season we were pretty much all complaining about how crap the women characters were. I think there has definitely been a concerted effort to improve the female characters this season though definitely.

How different is the attitude now though that its ok to just kill people? Remember Rick in season one? We don't kill people?! Sad reflection that now its kind of kill or be killed isn't it?

susiedaisy · 03/11/2012 11:42

Yeh I agree I think women would be used for breeding and to service men's needs,

Didn't want to say it out loud for fear of derailing the thread!

HarlettOScara · 03/11/2012 11:58

Considering the comparative lack of action, that was a fantastic episode! I don't recall ever seeing David Morrissey in anything before but he seems well cast as the psychopathic Governor. Something about him and his engineered community reminded me a bit of Animal Farm.

It's also nice to have a bit of a break from Rick et al. Although looking forward to having them back next week and having to sit on my hands to prevent me watching online before then!

wintera · 03/11/2012 12:30

I'm amazed at how many of you have never seen David Morrissey before! He's fab in everything he's in! Did none of you see him in State of Play with Jon Simm then? Or Doctor Who even? I really rate him. First saw him years ago in One Summer on the tele, about two scouse lads running off to Wales. Have had a soft spot for him ever since then.

HarlettOScara · 03/11/2012 12:43

State of Play - heard of it but never watched it.
Dr Who - only ever seen a few episodes when Christopher Eccleson was the Dr so unless he was in it then, nope.
One Summer - never heard of it.

Will certainly look out for anything he's in in future, based on just his performance in this one episode.

wintera · 03/11/2012 13:16

Don't think many people have heard of One Summer to be honest. It just meant a lot to me when I was a kid. Me and my sister watched it together and it really made an impression on me. Watched it again recently too on DVD. I would definitely give State of play a go though, its really good. Very gripping I seem to recall. Much better than the movie with Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe.

David Morrissey was on radio five live with Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode around the time the movie of State of play was out. They asked him if he would go and see it and he said 'no, it would be like going to the wedding of an ex girlfriend that I was still in love with' I always thought that was a great thing to say!

wintera · 03/11/2012 13:19

I would also recommend the BBC's version of Our mutual friend for David Morrissey too. He played a teacher who turned into a stalker type. He was very good in that, very creepy when he was following people around in the shadows.

Nightwish · 03/11/2012 13:42

Who was David Morrissey in Doctor Who?
I watch it but didn't really recognise him.

I am waiting eagerly for Monday to get back to Rick and the group.
The version I watched didn't have a preview of next week though so I have no idea what is happening.

wintera · 03/11/2012 13:57

For your pleasure - clip of David Morrissey in doctor who
