Yes it's definitely the 'manhandling'. I think I have personal space issues anyway TBH.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/10/2012 13:26

Am I a weirdo? I'm not at all freaked out by the idea of lifts and general physical closeness in the context of dance. I'm certainly not the most tactile person in everyday life, and I'm quite reserved, but I imagine that if I were learning a partner dance I'd just accept all that body contact and everything as part of the deal.

I'm assuming here of course that my partners would not be smelly and I would like them. Grin

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 29/10/2012 13:37

When you dance, you just get on with it. I take ballroom lessons with my husband but several times a lesson my female teacher will take us each aside separately to dance through a sequence with us to make sure we've got it right. She's the same height as me, and old enough to be my mum, and we end up with our boobs squashed against each others Grin

You can't dance the figures, particularly in ballroom, if you aren't in close body contact.

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 15:02

This was ballet which is probably more similar to the ice dancing that sparkling was talking about. It was DISGUSTING, I wasn't in a contest with a cute guy partner though [hgrin] I'm usually quite a tactile person in RL. But a hug is not someone with out any timing skills grabbing you with sweaty hands and nearly dropping you (you HAVE to trust them).

Sparklingbroomstick · 29/10/2012 15:19

Shock and yuk ppeat. It is a good job not everyone feels like I do because there wouldn't be any dancing/skating to watch.

I would freak out if I had to squash my boobs up anyone male or female. I appreciate I am in the minority and probably have ishoos. Sad

OoooOoooOoood · 29/10/2012 15:43

Y I'm not a touchy person either. Also would not like dh being all close to someone either.

ScatterChasse · 29/10/2012 18:15

You get used to it very quickly I think. Obviously it's easy on Strictly too as it's always the same partner.

I have to admit I used to go out of my way to avoid dancing ballroom with other girls though (I'd do latin though). I just couldn't get past the bust thing Blush But some of my friends dance as girl-girl couples and it doesn't bother them at all.

ppeatfruit · 30/10/2012 08:42

Blimey did anyone see CRH dancing on TT2 last night ? He's AMAZING [hshock] he should do an exhibition dance on SCD.He'd be a brilliant partner as long as his breath doesn't smell [hgrin]

AndDIEMacDuff · 30/10/2012 08:59

He's in the panto near me. I have to buy tickets so I can see him dance in high heels!

ppeatfruit · 30/10/2012 09:26

Lucky you Andie!!

ppeatfruit · 31/10/2012 15:38

Have I killed the thread [hgrin]? Does anyone else get annoyed by the dance critic Karen on TT2? She is either really nervous because she gabbles and gets her words mixed up or she can't remember her notes. (I can't make out if she's reading an autocue or not).

I noticed that Julien the fashion critic has a VERY welsh accent I never noticed before and i wasn't sure about the red riding hood dress he chose as his fave Hmm

OoooOoooOoood · 31/10/2012 16:30

Julian drives me mad, can't watch him.

Sparklingbroomstick · 31/10/2012 16:54

Me neither Oood. Sad

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 31/10/2012 18:34

Julian makes Bruno look butch Grin

AndDIEMacDuff · 31/10/2012 19:04

I remember he was on a few times last year and I don't recall him being so ditzy. I think they've told him to camp it up, because he really doesn't seem comfortable doing it.

MsInterpret · 31/10/2012 19:30

I thought Julian was mildly less annoying last night or whenever he was on. COuldn't believe it last week (first time I'd seen him)!

RedZombie · 31/10/2012 19:56

Oh I love Karen, she's so fab.
Julien not so much

MsInterpret · 31/10/2012 22:09

Love Karen too.

Did she used to be on the main show as a pro?

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2012 08:20

Anyone about? ITV1 in a minute-DVO and James.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2012 08:26

She has made sure we know how different this is to anything she's ever done. Hmm

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2012 08:27

She hasn't had that much dance training. There wasn't much dancing in Chicago. Blah blah blah.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2012 08:28

The presenters have just said 'Vote Richard'. Grin

OP posts:
Mrsjay · 01/11/2012 09:20

To save you talking to yourself here i am Grin yes I saw DVO blathering on she really isn't a warm person is she I just don't like her at all which is a shame cos i really like james he has a very dry sense of humour, and what has she had done to her face Shock

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2012 09:23

Hi Mrsjay. Grin And what has Kate Garraway done to her hair? So many questions. Daybreak is awful.
