chipstick10 · 27/10/2012 20:13

there is something about Louis i dont like and i cant take to.

Sparklingbroomstick · 27/10/2012 20:14

Thank goodness for that. It's over. I am off to get my Rio CD out to listen to how it should have been sung. Angry

cocolepew · 27/10/2012 20:14

I usually think the singers are quite good, but not this week.
I hated Duran Duran but loved that song

digerd · 27/10/2012 20:14

Oh, it's over, don't feel excited at all, as I usually have done over the years.

TheHumancatapult · 27/10/2012 20:15

Think what's missing this year is in previous years at least one set of very obvious chemistry and just seems missing this year

Sparklingbroomstick · 27/10/2012 20:16

I am glad I haven't got tickets for the tour.

minxthemanx · 27/10/2012 20:16

Anyone else finding it dull and naff tonight? What's with all the lame, silly 'spooky' bits during rehearsals - is this aimed at the adults watching, or the kids? My DC aged 6 and 11 find it cringy.

Loved Michael Vaughan - that's what SCD is all about. People learning to dance, surprising us - also Lisa. And that's why I'm glad Denise isn't top of the blardy leader board again - sorry, anyone that's been in Chicago and therefore choreographed by West End finest, shouldn't be competing against the Michael's and Lisa's.

Rant over, time for the wine.

Fiderer · 27/10/2012 20:17

Why were Fern and Artem marked so low? Putting aside any lustful thoughts I may have for Artem, I do think their dance was undermarked.

minxthemanx · 27/10/2012 20:18

Sorry, forgot to add into the rant, Darcy's voice. Drives me NUTS. Wink

cocolepew · 27/10/2012 20:19

Fern is quite elegant I think. She's loosing weight to

suburbandream · 27/10/2012 20:57

Loved Louis and Flavia, they seemed to have more of a connection this week. Felt sorry for Fern, I thought she was quite good.

It wasn't as good as previous Halloween specials though, I think they've used up all the spooky songs already!

plus3 · 27/10/2012 21:18

Agree Fiderer thought Fern & Artm were marked too low. Hope they don't end up in the dance off not ready to see the end of Artem yet

OoooOoooOoood · 27/10/2012 21:40

Thought Sid was marked low too. Is there something obvious he is doing bad or do they just not like him?

TheSmallClanger · 27/10/2012 21:59

I thought Sid was much better than his marks suggested. Their routine was a bit gimmicky and silly, but there was some recognisable cha cha cha (it was a ccc wasn't it?) in there.
Lisa was a disappointment this week, but it was Robin's fault for the rubbish choreography that didn't include much Charleston, and only badly-done Charleston at that. The only contestant who has ever attempted the proper partnered Charleston is Holly.
Kimberly was very good. Victoria is improving. I think the stylists hate her though, as her costumes never seem right for her and her hair was getting in her way tonight.

Mrsjay · 27/10/2012 22:36

goes to DVO just after Kimberely's dance.

followed by fake slow clapping Grin DVO does my head in,

I liked victoria tonight she is getting better isnt she more relaxed , I love dani and vincent they are my favourites and i am infatuated with Vincents buttocks Blush

ScatterChasse · 27/10/2012 23:25

I didn't find it that gripping tonight.

I don't know if the dances helped particularly. I always thought the Viennese waltzes worked well for the Hallowe'en theme, chacha seemed to work...less well.

MaryZcary · 27/10/2012 23:27

I have just watched it and am going back to read the thread.

But I found the costumes waaaaaay over the top - some of them did very little dancing, and an awful lot of posing and acting.

And as for the little vignettes between the dances - they have ceased to be merely annoying and are now deeply frustrating, so much so that I can't watch it live any more, I have to whizz through them.

I do feel sorry for Sid.

notyummy · 27/10/2012 23:33

Loved Louis, Michael and Kimberley. Not too keen on Sid. Little vignettes now really annoying. Just ff through them all. Disappointed by Colin. Seems like a nice chap and I want him to do well.

Mrsjay · 27/10/2012 23:34

there is something about Louis i dont like and i cant take to.

he doesn't seem to have a personality you need to be able to warm to people to like them

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/10/2012 23:40

I think theme nights twice in a row was a mistake, should have just had the Hallowwe'en one. i agree that the vignettes are tedious, when the DCs were younger I used to record it and wqtch it once they were in bed and skip those bits, they started watching it last year so I have to watch it live and endure all the crap bits. Although I quite like Brucie, his jokes are too frequent and some of them are too laboured, that one about talking like kids tonight would have been ok with one punchline, not about 5.

Most other of these elimination type shows (Masterchef, Apprentice etc) shake the format up every now and then, I think it's time Strictly did too. Just changing between dance-off and no dance-off and changing the female judge everry now and then isn't enough. Get rid of Bruce and Tess, get in Anton and Claudia, make them all do the same dance on the same night, perhaps preceded by a couple of professionals demonstrating the key steps and the judges telling us what they will be looking for in that particular dance and cut the rehearsal crap bits down to about 20s. That technical stuff is what's missing for me, I have been watching it for years and still know very little about the rules of each dance, just the odd snippet that the judges make. Whereas, for example, I have learnt lots about baking from just a couple of seasons of GBBO.

ScatterChasse · 27/10/2012 23:41

I thought Richard and Erin were unlucky going second. He did have problems with his technique, but compared to some of the others they did a lot more dancing! (Especially considering it was a paso, where you could get away with a fair amount of posing.) I think if they'd gone later on, their score would probably have been higher.

MaryZcary · 27/10/2012 23:42

dd announced tonight she didn't like Louis.

I couldn't quite get what she was on about, but it was something to do with him being gay but denying he was gay Confused. The assumption among her friends is that he is, but is ashamed to be, or something.

What that has to do with dancing I have no idea. I think he is amazingly flexible, he does the steps and moves very well, but to me he looks over-rehearsed - it doesn't seem to be natural.

I thought Kimberley was lovely tonight.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 27/10/2012 23:50

I like Louis, I saw a short programme about him a few months ago where he talked about how much his mum had sacrificed for him, his ADHD etc and he seemed so genuine and honest. He is great technically on Strictly but needs to get the acting part a bit more to the fore.

MaryZcary · 27/10/2012 23:57

I am warming to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he won - I would certainly prefer him to DvO.
