Honestly, if you like a good drama (with cheesy acting) about rich people in the Hamptons getting up to allsorts, this is for you.

E4 9pm tonight.

Is it just me or is Nolan getting more attractive every week?

AmIthatbad · 25/08/2012 17:46

Not just you, Nolan really is lovely.

I think Victoria really did love David, but loved the money/status more. Plus wants Daniel's sympathy. Bitch

.....and I love Madeline Stowe, but what's with the twitchy eye ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2012 19:36

Think she said it for sympathy rather then if she said I loved him but left him to rot after your dad and I lied about the plane crash

tribpot · 26/08/2012 19:48

Yes, I'd imagine it doesn't seem like it would do any harm to further tarnish the image of a dead (alleged) terrorist, and she obviously needs to keep Daniel on side to do her secret investigation of Conrad.

I'm convinced Nolan is up to something. Mind you, I'm convinced they're all up to something! Except Daniel who appears to be the attractive and well-meaning village idiot.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2012 21:16

Why is Nolan so intent on helping her. Surely can't be because of her dad helping him Years ago

And where did all her money come from?? To buy a place in the hamptons????

tribpot · 26/08/2012 21:19

Well I thought originally he was in love with Amanda-Emily (what do we call the one who is the main character?) but it would surely be ludicrous to have him, Daniel and Jack all in love with her?

Her money is very mysterious, although highly useful as a plot device Grin I'm guessing it must be her mother's, as her father's assets would have been seized, presumably. No-one mentioned her/Emily-Amanda benefiting from a terrorist's will or anything like that ...

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 26/08/2012 21:43

tribpot love the attractive village idiot description for Daniel! Still loving Nolan, especially when he almost hugged Amanda on the beach. I think he is just lonely.

BartletForTeamGB · 26/08/2012 22:59

Nolan told Amanda when she got out of juvie that she now owned half his company after her father died.

BartletForTeamGB · 26/08/2012 23:00

Nolan told Amanda when she got out of juvie that she now owned half his company after her father died. He'd invested in Nolan when he was a teenage wonder kid.

TwllBach · 27/08/2012 06:25

What's with the relationship between Amanda/Emily and emily/Amanda? Obviously the curly one really does care about the straight one, but I got te feeling that (even though she would have fed her to the dogs anyway) the real Amanda did love her...

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 27/08/2012 06:52

I think real Amanda does love her, but is trying to remain cold and apathetic to achieve what she needs to. I quite liked fake Amanda in the end, before she left Jack, she was another lonely soul who would have done anything for real Amanda. Over-thinking this way too much!

whatkungfuthat · 27/08/2012 09:59

The part I don't get is what did the Graysons do to make the plane crash and why?

tribpot · 27/08/2012 10:34

I don't think we've uncovered anything to do with the plane crash yet, other than David was framed for it having crashed and the Graysons were behind it.

If I had to guess (given this is utterly preposterous anyway) it was either an act of corporate sabotage (i.e. Conrad wanted to devalue the shares in the airline for some reason) or fear-mongering (i.e. if Grayson had a Hallburton-style security arm that would benefit from the heightened state of security. But we shall see. The use of the word 'terrorism' suggests a political motivation that has mysteriously never been mentioned - David as a white supremacist? In the Hamptons? There'd be no point. David as an environmental terrorist?

In terms of Amanda-Emily and Emily-Amanda, it's not really clear why hard-nosed 'real Emily' was so keen to fall under the spell of 'real Amanda' - perhaps juvie was like the prison in the dire Ashley Judd film Double Jeopardy, where they literally sat around all day plaiting each others' hair and talking about how great it was going to be when they got out. One minute you're a wiseass juvenile offender, next thing you're BFFs with a terrorist's daughter.

Oblomov · 27/08/2012 10:55

Am loving this series. Although it does wear a bit thin at times. I too can't understand why Nolan doesn't tell fake Emily/Amanda to get lost.
And Daniel's mum never SAID David raped her, she just implied a bit and Daniel leaped ....
But the look of ice on Emily's face when Daniel told her what his mum had said, was pricless.

tribpot · 27/08/2012 11:03

Yes, you can kind of tell the series was extended slightly unexpectedly, as the first few eps are very thematic - revenge on this person, revenge on that person (hey, I wonder how they came up with the title 'Revenge'? Wink). Now it's rather floundering trying to work out how to fill in the bit til we get back to the beginning and Daniel being shot.

I love the fact it takes itself so seriously. Yet isn't afraid to stretch credibility to breaking point.

In terms of double lives and twisty-turny-mad plots, has anyone else seen Ringer? Also great fun and very silly.

fussychica · 27/08/2012 12:02

I'm a fan but can't read any of the recent posts in this thread in case of spoilers as I'm several episodes behind so I had to scroll down without looking to post this.

tribpot · 27/08/2012 12:09

fussychica - you could start a 'NO SPOILERS' thread, we do that with the West Wing so that people coming to it for the first time don't have to wade through all the plot points they haven't seen yet :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/08/2012 12:52

Duh. Forgot owned half the company

What did happen to her mum? Assuming dead

And yes love ringer. Hope comes back soon

MurielTheActor · 27/08/2012 13:25

Yes Oblomov that's what I thought and was going to post same.
Victoria didn't say it - Daniel, I reckon, has made that up himself. What son, especially one as devoted as him Hmm wants to believe that his mother didn't love his father and had another child by someone else she was really in love with?
This is going to get interesting... Grin

mizu · 27/08/2012 20:08

Nolan IS looking more attractive every episode Grin

tribpot · 27/08/2012 21:48

Can I just say how pleased I am Revenge is sponsored by one of the most ridiculous drinks I've ever heard of?

PfftTheMagicDraco · 27/08/2012 21:58

I enjoy this a lot. Very old school soapy drama, done quite well. I love Nolan, and I enjoy Van Camp. Victoria and Emanda could do so well together, scheming, if they weren't such enemies.

The only downer for me was the Tyler storyline. That was dull. The show makes a nice change though. You don't see much like it these days.

tribpot · 27/08/2012 22:04

I also liked 'Revenge-da'. Good pun that doesn't quite work!

I imagine at some point Victoria and Emily-Amanda will be united against a common foe, probably someone threatening Village Idiot Daniel. Interesting to see she has been pursuing him for a while, despite her claims to Nolan that Daniel isn't part of the Revenge-fest.

whatkungfuthat · 28/08/2012 09:43

Do you think she really has feeling for Daniel? I didn't really see the flashback as pursuing him, more like doing groundwork for her revenge onslaught and looking for a weak point or an 'in'.

Oblomov · 28/08/2012 10:31

I think her feelings for Daniel are minimal. Or, rather, she feels them occassionally, and then she dismisses those emotions, (like her japanese mentor reminded her to do, when he feared her emotions were becoming involved) and reminds herself to focus on the task in hand, the main objective here.

Did you see in the opening episode, her face ,when they announce Daniel as dead. NOTHING. She may shed a tear, after a few days, because she is not totally heartless, and she doesn't like it when innocents get caught up in her scheme, but generally she really is only using him to get what she wants.

Talking of what her main objective is, what do you think it is?
I don't even think that hurting Victoria is her main objective. I think its clearing her dads name. And I think she knows that she needs to get proof to show that he was not a terrorist and did not blow up the plane. But does that evidence even exist anymore. Victoria and Conrad will have surely disposed of everyhting to exonerate them from that crime.
