I expected so much more from it. Such a brilliant cast. The music is so shouty though and, I dont even get the plot. If Im honest.

I quite like it, enough to still be watching it anyway Grin

slalomsuki · 12/05/2012 07:39

Plot is a bit slow but I quite like it also. Just right for easy watching from the sofa on a rainy afternoon.

WhatMakesYouSay · 12/05/2012 16:17

It gets better. The first few episodes are really uneven, but by the time you get to the last 5 or so, it gets really quite good.

stickytoffee · 14/05/2012 21:42

I'm quite enjoying it if only because every other sky+ recording is either legal drama /crime thriller / hospital drama/ nothing of any lighthearted variety and for that reason sometimes its just a nice change !.....and quite enjoy the singing and dancing and also love the lady who used to play Grace in Will &

nickiminja · 15/05/2012 11:44

I am really liking it a lot, nice change like Sticky says.

FrillyMilly · 15/05/2012 12:42

I'm enjoying it. It's light relief and a much better than Glee

BrightnessFalls · 16/05/2012 18:13

I get that its better than Glee, I just cant lose myself in these all singing, dancing shows. I must be a right misery guts. I mean when the four of them take to the stage in the biker bar to do a dance routine, if I was in that pub I would be out of there like a shot. I hate show offs!!

I dont even get the story was she supposed to be provincial and the other dancers are making her into a Marilyn? There was nothing wrong with her that I could see!

episode three was shit

loved 1 and 2

AndiMac · 16/05/2012 22:20

I'm really enjoying it so far. The stories of all the characters are all fairly developed, which can be a bit boring when it's the story about one you don't care about, but I think it's weaving an interesting tale. But then again, I also love Glee.

I hate the music writer's assistant, I can totally see why he gives Debra Messing's character the creeps.

Get0rfMoiLand · 17/05/2012 19:32

I really, really liked it at first, I thought the first episode was fantastic, and the second one was nearly as good.

But now - pah. It is just a load of formulaic crap. And from the brilliant routines (the first one with marilyn and all the baseball players going from the studio to the stage was brilliant) - all the songs are now really dull and I FF through them.

The only thing that is keeping me watching is Angelica Huston and Debra Messing.

BrightnessFalls · 17/05/2012 20:12

Angelica looks strange, though.

OP posts:
Get0rfMoiLand · 17/05/2012 20:22

Do you think so?

I think she comes across as so warm, as does Debra Messing. And I really disliked Will and Grace, but she is brilliant in this.

Oh and I love the english guy Dev as well, he is lovely.

I just think it is turning into Glee (which I hate).

Lexiesgirl · 17/05/2012 20:24

I loved the first episode, I was excited to have some vaguely decent but trashy TV and then... god, episode 3 was appalling. The dialogue is dire! And, really, if you had been married that long but had an affair and then we're forced to work with the guy again, you'd try behaving a little less like a 7 year old.

Still, Jack Davenport is yummy. And the songs can be good.

BrightnessFalls · 17/05/2012 20:37

What has Dev been in before? Ive seen Marilyn as well.

I really cant stand the story of the runner up to Marilyn, why are they acting as if she wasnt good enough or part of their crowd? did they didnt make her stand out enough for her transformation to be in anyway realistic.

Is it a one of then? I hope so

He was in Mistresses. He was husband to Siobhan (?)

Lexiesgirl · 17/05/2012 20:45

He was in Spooks as well.

BrightnessFalls · 17/05/2012 20:57

Yes, thats right. I was getting him mixed up with the guy from East is East.

OP posts:
lumbago · 17/05/2012 22:34

liked ep 4 but am finding the @ hey musicians its in G youll play@ suspension of disbelief a bit trying

plus spooks guys character is SO one dimensional he is almost flat stanley

BrightnessFalls · 21/05/2012 07:31

Well, this weeks was no better. I've practically given up on it. Too screechy for me.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 21/05/2012 07:50

I quite like it. As does dd. I record it and watch it on Sunday morning - its perfect Sunday morning telly.

Ivy irritates me though. Angelica marvellous (caught her in the original Witches on ch4 I think it was, last week!).

I don't know. It's not brilliant but I certainly keep on watching.

BrightnessFalls · 28/05/2012 22:02

Ive just caught up with the last two. I could really do without the singing, it really grates on me.

OP posts:
moonblushtomato · 28/05/2012 22:09

Its predictable, highly mainstream, unchallenging fare.

I LOVE IT!!

The characters are completely one dimensional and the writing is utterly hopeless. I think its literary equivalent would something along the lines of Danielle Steele/Maeve Binchy.

Lexiesgirl · 28/05/2012 22:09

I like the Marilyn singing, but I could do without the random singing of pop songs at odd moments...

BrightnessFalls · 28/05/2012 22:12

I keep wanting Jack from Will and Grace to pop up Grin

Lexiesgirl · 28/05/2012 22:18

God, yes - you wouldn't even notice he was in the wrong show, would you?
