I expected so much more from it. Such a brilliant cast. The music is so shouty though and, I dont even get the plot. If Im honest.

No, you wouldnt. He wouldve been perfect but, I guess it wouldve been abit weird. He couldve had a cameo, as the pianist in rehearsals Smile

I fast forward through the songs too.

Once I've started watching something I'm compelled to watch to the bitter end no matter how duff it is. I'm doing the same with Touch.

The only thing I abandoned was Falling Skies. That was a pile of shite.

Lexiesgirl · 31/05/2012 17:53

Ditto, limited - I am known for watching an awful lot of shite TV, but Falling Skies was the one thing I gave up too. That was absolutely shocking.

SleepyFergus · 31/05/2012 17:59

Oh, I'm quite enjoying it. The episodes seem to whizz by. I love the songs and gave just downloaded the album....

The writers assistant is creepy, I agree. But what has Debra Messing done, she looks so different from her W&G days, like a bit of dodgy facial surgery. Me and DH can't quite figure out what exactly it is....

Think Angelica Houston is looking amazing!

BrightnessFalls · 31/05/2012 20:04

My idea of hell would be having to listen to an album!! I loathe their voices. DM looks great I think, even though she looks younger than she did when she was Grace!

This thread has just reminded me that I have a couple of episodes on the sky + so it can't be that good.

limitedperiodonly · 31/05/2012 21:23

Lexie I advise you to be washing your hair for an hour at 9pm from 3 July on FX for the next 12 weeks because season 2 has inexplicably been commissioned.

Lexiesgirl · 31/05/2012 21:31

What?! S2? Did they sign the cheque without seeing the show?

And to think I used to love Noah Wyle in ER....

TheNightWatch · 10/06/2012 16:16

I've no idea what happened in this weeks!!!

TheNightWatch · 10/06/2012 16:33

Ps I sat through that all the time wondering if Angelica Houstons daughter was some relative of Meryl Streep she's her double. Turns out its her daughter in rl. Whether she will ever be as good as her mother, is another thing.

FrillyMilly · 10/06/2012 23:09

TheNightWatch I'm so glad you posted that. It was bugging me who we reminded me of.

I like it. It's got potential but at the moment there's not enough to make me go 'I must watch smash'. At the end of the episode I'm not really left wanting more. I do have to see things through though once I start watching.

TheNightWatch · 10/06/2012 23:39

Me too. I dont know where on earth its going!! Its been signed for a second season as well.

iloveACK · 10/06/2012 23:49

I'm really enjoying it Grin. Perfect trash telly to do my ironing to & I enjoy the singing!

pollyteapot · 11/06/2012 18:20

I quite like it - it's grown on me, after being totally non plussed at ep 1, gave ep 2 a chance and am glad i did.

Is it just me who can't see why Karen would be a better Marilyn than Ivy? I like her voice, but I think Ivy's in incredible!!! I loathe the pop tunes inbetween though and the album has more than a few of them on it, cos I was going to download it this afternoon, now not so sure.

Jack Davenport is pretty yummy though

GitAwfMayLend · 11/06/2012 18:37

Oh I have given up on it now. That lantern-jawed Marilyn was getting on my nerves.

Shame as it started so well.

TheNightWatch · 11/06/2012 18:42

So is Grace not seeing that singer anymore, just like that?

Lexiesgirl · 12/06/2012 21:56

Nightwatch, I think so. They just fired him and he was quite happy about the whole thing? Confused

I'm still watching because it is inoffensive but it is pretty shite now. I like the musical numbers that turn into proper show tunes but the pop songs... That 'Touch Me' song was like watching a car crash, I had to skip that. I think I'm actually still watching (Jack Davenport aside) because I can't understand where it is going, so now I have to see.

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 22:04

Ive got no idea as to the point of it. So is the Marilyn lookie likey out of the picture as well now? Whats that Karen's bf (the wooden actor) up to? wh is his boring job relevant to the plot? and, why isnt that male secretary gay? he has to be gay.

SleepyFergus · 12/06/2012 22:04

I had to fast forward through the impromptu singing at the bowling alley - it was all a bit squirm 'Glee' for me.

SleepyFergus · 12/06/2012 22:08

Yeah, there's a lot I can't see where it's going...I guess because they've signed up for S2 they can weave more 'intricate' story lines but it's a bit irritating.

The male secretary gets my bloody goat. I want to punch his smarmy little face and choke him with his bow tie. At least Grace (or whatever her name in this is, can't remember off hand!) sees what a little shit he is!

TheNightWatch · 12/06/2012 22:21

Oh, I stick to Grace and I want to call her partner Jack.

I cant stand it really. I hate all the singer. ALL of it. I fast forward as soon as one of them opens their gob to screech. i didnt get the point of the cringey pop song in the warehouse and why they were pissed off.

iloveACK · 16/06/2012 23:30

Just watched to tonight's - I love this show Grin.

I do always watch it after some wine, but think I'd love it regardless as I'm all about the good looking American cheese Grin

TheNightWatch · 16/06/2012 23:36

Im just watching now and have already fast forwarded the chorus line singing. I could do without any tunes. I take it her husband has found out.

I dont warm to Karen at all.

Im just onto my second glass. I need it to get through it. Even though I could just switch off Smile

wheresthepopcorn · 17/06/2012 22:37

BrightnessFalls Dev was in Sex and the City 2 as Carrie's butler. Also, the show writer (grace's partner) was an extra in Sex and the City TV series. He worked behind the counter in the pet shop that Charlotte went to and told her that her dog Elizabeth Taylor was pregnant. (yes, I do need to get out more)
