why do most of the leading men, Lord wotsit, prince of wales, lustful yank - all look so similar?
No disrespect but is Ed Stoppard's mouth slightly obscenely full o' the lip.
Is the lady of the house not as pretty as that maid?
Does the lady of the house have two expressions? Smiling and smiling with a grimace?

OP posts:
Calamityboo · 15/03/2012 15:06

I want to know why the lady of the houses shoulders turn a corner before her head!!

lowlandlady · 15/03/2012 15:12
Grin and the lesbianism, didn't it seem a bit out of place, a bit stuck in for some racynees?

Love Lady Percy she's so bad and I think she can act.
But the Butler's piles, really? Do we need his piles?
I like the society for servants coming in and getting them a sofa.

OP posts:
Calamityboo · 15/03/2012 19:34

Well there was no need for piles or lesbians! Give Mr armanjit (probly spelt wrong sorry) more, and Defo more servant boys with no tops on! :)

I am definitely a downton girl!

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2012 14:00

The thread that goes into these details has disappeared, but we were all confused by most of the posh male actors looking so similar (it seems odd that no producers or directors noticed this).
I've stopped watching this it annoys me soo much and I love a good costume drama usually (agree with calamity about Downton also Call the Midwife now that's how dramas SHOULD be Grin

Stpatricksprincess · 17/03/2012 00:10

Unbelievable how alike the blokes lookConfused.I struggled through the first two episodes and have now stopped watching. Its not a patch on Downton. Not at all convincing as a period drama-very disappointing!

MsMarple · 17/03/2012 00:19

Really? I don't think its as bad as all that.

I liked the Spargo boxing bit last week - and this whole Sir Hallam becoming a love rat thing makes him much more interesting. Can't wait for the fall out!

NowWeKnow · 17/03/2012 01:15

I'm so glad it's not just me who gets the men mixed up.

I'm still not sure who's who and I'm losing the thread/interest because of it. I thought it was just me. By Sunday evening I'm not up to anything too complicatedBlush.

lowlandlady · 17/03/2012 09:06

I'm so pleased everyone noticed.

i mean it can't be hard to cast more diversely can it?
This country's full of good posh actors with not enough work - I imagine!

OP posts:
Tooblunt2012 · 17/03/2012 09:11

So glad I'm not alone in thinking all the men look alike. I keep persevering with UD thinking that it should be better, but it just doesn't feel right at all. Downton is a million times better.

And am I the only one that thinks the servant looks like Angelina Jolie (the one who went to the Girls Friendly Society to complain)?? Find her very off putting!

lowlandlady · 17/03/2012 09:23

yeah that maid is pretty than Lady Strumpetta of the stockings ad.
It doesn't work somehow and the all the palpitations of the chauffer Lawks a mercy!

I'm quite into it now but I can't quite get my head round Ed Stoppard. I think he's an able actor but he's TOO SHORT for lady Dooda and he's not sexy enough. She needs a tall sexy man surely?
I hate it when the cast the lead shorter than his trouble and strife, it never works for me, it's as sexy as Cruise/Kidman.

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 17/03/2012 09:23

The maid is much much prettier than either of the ladies of the house. And would she have been allowed to wear that much make up?

lowlandlady · 17/03/2012 09:24

But surely we all love Lady Percy and her tragic abortion at the savoy?

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 17/03/2012 10:30

The problem with the actress who plays lady P. (she's in White Heat too BTW) is that she can't actually act; her face is always a blank; I tell you who helps her acting and should get the BAFTA for Lady P is the MAKE UP ARTIST she's brilliant !!! Grin.

Agree with Chubfuddler That maid is only maiding to get free board while she saves for a hairdressers (or something) so not the run of the mill type IYSWIM.

lowlandlady · 18/03/2012 17:25

ppeat, I think you're right actually, she does startled doe doesn't she? and sometimes slightly peeved doe?

OP posts:
diddl · 18/03/2012 17:55

Oh God I loathe Lady P.

Longstocking2 · 18/03/2012 17:57

I've changed my mind now, I'm easily led - are we watching it tonight?

Shall there be Sapphic struggles and brutality in the lower orders?

No one is going to make me like Ed Stoppard's mouth, it looks very rude. Am I alone with my mouth issues?

I'm bored with Lady wotsits small range of expressions. pulling on tights face, patronising the servants face etc

RabidEchidna · 18/03/2012 18:05

Not only is lady P a trollop, my money is on her being a Nazi spy Grin

tumbleweedblowing · 18/03/2012 18:12

Definitely a spy!

diddl · 18/03/2012 19:43

"she's in White Heat too BTW"-don´t like her in that either!

Don´t know if it´s because she´s a rubbish actress, but I just couldn´t give a crap about her characters.

And her Lady P character-shagged the chauffeur, became a "kept woman"(?), & now shagging her BIL-lovely!

alemci · 18/03/2012 20:40

yes i was commenting today to MIL about how the men looked all the same and they are all short. Hallam is annoying

Lady P is annoying.

Chubfuddler · 18/03/2012 20:43

I want to punch Hallam in the face. He makes me very very angry, smug hypocritical cunt.

Sorry, I'm not sure if we ate meant to feel so stabby about it.

GeorginaWorsley · 18/03/2012 21:26

Am enjoying it now,but hate the Hallam/Persy storyline.
Loving Sarah Lancashire.

Chubfuddler · 18/03/2012 21:28

I hate you Hallam Holland.

Chubfuddler · 18/03/2012 21:28

Ha ha lady Percy. Up yours.

Chubfuddler · 18/03/2012 21:31

Oh you cow Percy. Very clever.
