noddyholder · 02/01/2012 16:31

So looking forward to this.

cocoachannel · 02/01/2012 18:08

Is there only one?

LottieJenkins · 02/01/2012 21:42

Only one so far. Im loving how he met Max for the first time. Also the scene with John Thaw's daughter when she asks in character if she has met Morse before..........Bittersweet......

I'm really impressed at how he's got the intonation and accent just spot on, ooohI'm a fan already

changingnicknameforxmas · 02/01/2012 21:44

The young Max was very good - had the older Max character to a T I thought

And yes, very bittersweet when she asked

ElphabaisWicked · 02/01/2012 21:44

I'm liking it. I didn't ever get into Lewis - this is very much in the spirit of Morse and has lots of references in without being too obvious/cliched.

LottieJenkins · 02/01/2012 21:48

I Just spotted Colin Dexter doing his "Hitchcock appearance" Will be back later as Wilf wants to go on OOVO!!!!!!!

I'm loving it. It has a very sentimental feel and I love everything sixties. He seems to have all the same characteristics too. I'm loving all the dramas coming up I better start sorting the plus box so I don't miss any Smile

ElphabaisWicked · 02/01/2012 22:09

I have no method of recording anything so have to watch it when on as my netbook is too slow for iplayer.

What good dramas are coming up?

FlightRisk · 02/01/2012 22:33

that eternal law looks very good and Law and order uk is back on friday. Also I saw a few things advertised on bbc but I can't remember all of them Xx

LottieJenkins · 02/01/2012 22:39

Ive sneaked on again for a few minutes. They have been been very methodical, they have mentioned Susan the fiancee who turns up in Morse. It must be set after 1963 as they mentioned Profumo affair!

OP posts:
purpleknittingmum · 02/01/2012 22:42

My daughter asked when it was set and according to my TV guide it is 1965

Foxinsocks · 02/01/2012 22:55

It's great isn't it

snowwombat · 02/01/2012 22:58

This is fabulous. Are there going to be more?

ElphabaisWicked · 02/01/2012 23:00

Got goosebumps at theimage inthe car mirror

Althalus · 02/01/2012 23:02

It's supposed to be a one off, but the creator, Colin Dexter said if there was a good reception for this, then there could be a TV Series made. To be honest, that was as good as the Morse TV Series when John Shaw was alive in my opinion. I loved it!

ElphabaisWicked · 02/01/2012 23:04

In some ways it felt more in the spirit of the books than Morse did. I could never get my head around Lewis being so young - in the books he was older than Morse

slartybartfast · 02/01/2012 23:04

i lvoed it too, couldnt quite see the intonations of morse but did like the actor.

plus i saw the programme on morse last night, loved morse. he was so young when he died. Sad

Althalus · 02/01/2012 23:07

I noticed the typo in his name Slartyl I blame the Bailey's milkshakes I've been drinking tonight all 10 of them

Apologies to John Thaw for getting his name wrong Blush

BehindLockNumberNine · 02/01/2012 23:07

We (dh and I) absolutely loved it. Got goosebumps at the image in the car rearview mirror - beautifully done.

Hope there will be more as this was beautiful.

DigOfTheStump · 02/01/2012 23:11

Loved it, mirror bit at the end and his daughter in the newsroom, so good.

Max and Morse were v believable as their younger characters.

More more more Morse!

Butkin · 02/01/2012 23:14

Loved it - brought back so many happy memories of watching the original series and showed us how he got into opera, crosswords and even drinking real ale!

Hope they can work out a way of making a series using these characters. I like period crime series where it not all about forensics.
