I know there is another thread and have posted on it and been ignored, probably as I am a strictly novice and have only just started watching it this series, I can't be the only one who is new. please come talk to me .

noddyholder · 20/11/2011 15:36

I am a strictly fanatic What do you want to know?

Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 15:39

ahh see I know you are an old hand, I remember you leaving a meet up once so that you can see it:o
just wanted to talk about it really.

OP posts:
Pan · 20/11/2011 15:40

oh, sorry you feel that way, Sevenfold. tbh A lot of posts go un-responded to as it's people just chucking out their informed and well-thought out opinions tuppence worth.Grin. Unless you've asked something of someone specifically and been ignored, which is a bit bad.

noddyholder · 20/11/2011 15:43

I would leave my own wedding to see it Grin. It is the only reality show where I think at least they have learned something and I find the judges hilarious whereas I hate the ones on x factor etc.

Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 15:43

your all too clever for me, I only noticed Jason going wrong last night, other than that I go on whether I like the dance rather that the real rules iynwim, so think I just feel thick on the other thread.

but why hasn't Russell gone yet???

OP posts:
Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 15:44

noddy I know what you mean Craig has me lol, especially his comments on Russell

OP posts:
noddyholder · 20/11/2011 15:50

After you have watched it for years you do pick up the 'dance' stuff. I am amazed what I know yet everything I learned at uni I have forgotten! I would love to learn to dance now but the thought of dp stepping all over my feet maybe not!

Pan · 20/11/2011 15:53

I think it comes with a bit of 'putting the hours in', in part, and of course it helps if you have had classes yourself. But there isn't any need to feel thick tho' - lots of posters just go with the flow and post about what they like, and there's nothing wrong with that!!

you just pick up pointers as you go, like the rise-and-fall of the waltz, neat foot work, body posture, how some dances should have some 'gap' between the couple's bodies, some not. I've had ball room and Latin calsses and a friend of mine used to be a dance-instructor - but you still learn something new from most dances shown, and listening carefully to the judge's comments. excpeting Aliesha about Harry as she has trouble enunciating her words from amongst her drool.Smile

Pan · 20/11/2011 15:57

Russel? Is popular with the public and as a large proportion of the final vote is for the public he gets to stay. It's part of the tension between it being a dance competition and a popular entertainment show.

noddyholder · 20/11/2011 15:58

Russel is my least favourite tbh and not keen on anita. Love robbie though he has a look of a footballer who has just realised there is a whole other world outside football where you can be yourself and have fun without it being tabloid fodder. Also like Harry and chelsee is lovely. Jason is a big head but v good

Pan · 20/11/2011 16:04

Jon Seargeant, the tv journalist was almost as bad as Russel ( though Russel can dance when he tries to), and voluntarily stepped out of the competition due to his intergrity re dance-skill and otehr people being booted off instead of him.
What chance of Russel doing that??

noddyholder · 20/11/2011 16:05

None Pan he thinks he is the show with all his bowing to the audience etc. He just can't do the steps. My dp and ds love Holly but I think she is very average no real wow.

CaveMum · 20/11/2011 16:09

Sevenfold sorry you've felt ignored on the other thread, as Pan says on show night it can get very busy and it is easy to miss the comments from some people.

Do feel free to ask any questions you want about the dances, there is no such thing as a stupid question and in my opinion we all need to help spread the knoweldge, and therefore love, of dancing Grin

HarrietJones · 20/11/2011 16:15

I'll jump on this one too as I don't always understand keep up with the other thread!

I've no idea about dancing except bits picked up from watching, I just know I can see who tries , who doesn't and what I like

Pan · 20/11/2011 16:19

oh and if you only have time to watch one It Takes Two in the week, watch it on Wednesdays when Ian Waite ( one of the pros who isn't in the show this year) does a round up of how the contestants are training, complete wit ha tv graphic thingumybob to make it all very visually clear.

VeniVidiVino · 20/11/2011 16:26

Ooh goody, a Strictly thread that I can jump on early :)
I love the show but have only really watched it for 2 or 3 series. Love Russel as he is so clearly absolutely loving being there (though I do think that perhaps the cannon was a little OTT!).
How about anyone's Strictly crushes? Alisha clearly drools over Harry but personally I cannot stop obsessing over enjoy watching Robin Windsor the most Wink

noddyholder · 20/11/2011 16:27

I like the new bloke and also think he is an amazing dancer

Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 18:37

CaveMum thanks
I must say Harry is my fave(and I hate mcflythatlookjustlikebusted) I couldn't quite get why Anita's dance last week was deemed better than his.
I think robbie needs to stop sliding on the floor, i am sure the show has cleaners.
I am not sure why but not keen on Holly(her dancing not her)

OP posts:
Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 18:38

Robin Windsor is so hot.

OP posts:
CaveMum · 20/11/2011 19:36

But sadly very very gay Grin

The problem a lot of people (me, me and me!) have is with Aliona - her choreography is very selfish at times. The job of the pro is to show their celebrity off to their best advantage, but quite often Aliona seems to highlight her own dance ability to the detriment of her partner. She has done it every year so far and doesn't seem to get the message.

AmIthatbad · 20/11/2011 20:30

Another fan here.............I have watched all except the first series.

I find that my favourites change as the weeks go on.

Last year, I thought I might like Scott Maslen, then Matt Baker appeared...his second week foxtrot had my mouth open withlust awe. And then I just became his hugest fan.

This year, I thought I would like Jason......but for some reason I don't

And I thought I would hate Chelsee.............but I love her

And as for Pasha Kovalev, the new professional. Well, what can I say. I love him Grin

ScatterChasse · 20/11/2011 20:51

Yep, I rather like him too. Very handsome.

Sorry you were ignored Sevenfold, come and jump in again if you feel like it. I just keep posting whether anybody listens to me or not...Grin.

Agree with Pan that Wednesday's a good ITT, unfortunately I'm always out! I always try and watch Tuesday's when Karen Hardy very good Latin dancer and ex-Strictly pro come in to do Choreography Corner.

Sevenfold · 20/11/2011 20:52

I call Chelsee and Pasha, the children lol,
Is Aliona Harry's partner?

I was glad Russel went

OP posts:
SweetieDoesIt · 20/11/2011 20:58

Another strictly fan here too. Am loving this years line up and I am thinking it is too close to call. I can not even think who might make the final might be me being a bit thick Blush

I think it is really telling who the celeb gets partnered with, for example would chelsee be as good without pasha, although all the male dancer seem very good, or imagine how good Harry would be with kristina or ola. The mind boggles.

I havent watched takes two this year as I can not stand Zoe ball, I really loved claudia so refuse to watch without her. I know it was her choice but I feel guilty.

ScatterChasse · 20/11/2011 21:15

Yep, Aliona's the redhead partnered with Harry. This is her third series.

James (cocky one with Alex) is married to Ola (dancing with Robbie). Ola has won once, James has never won.

I think there are quite a few of us who could keep on about Strictly for hours, so if you want a crash course in who's who etc, just ask!
