Cast lists don't mean a thing though do they

For example- Thomas could bugger off to another posting and there could be flashbacks to Lavinia - (picking two random characters) yet Thomas would be alive and Lavinia dead

I am such a Spoiler Tart, I have been searching

I can't find anything definitive, but Wikipedia has cast lists for Series 1 and 2. It looks as though ongoing characters are listed as '1-present', and others are listed as '1,2' or just '2'.

That doesn't mean they'll necessarily die, I suppose, but they won't be in Series 3?

The actor who plays Thomas has signed up for a starring role in a new tv show next year, so I'm doubtful he'll be back. Not that he has to die, of course.

I've found the cast list for series 3 and the person missing is.....

You know what's been missing from this series? A dramatic throwing of something in the fire followed by the finding of said item tantalisingly half burned the next morning...
