Soooooooooooooo I still reckon Cora to kick the bucket, shuffle of this mortal coil, sing with the choir eternal etc etc

I bet Jane is handy with a shorehorn for Lord 6, he's been out of action for a while so may need some help.

Sybil came out just before the war started, so in 1914. Last night's episode was in 1919 so she would have come out when she was 16. That's a bit of a tight squeak but doable, especially if she's a summer baby and had only just turned 17 and is now very nearly 22.

Agreed that quite a few of the story lines are yawn yawn yawn. Bates and Anna? Don't care. Just get the heck on with it. Ditto Lord G & Jane, Isobel's philanthropy, Thomas' misdeeds, Sybil and her pickle. Do care: M&M, Edith's future husband, who dies, Lavvy-poo's links with Sir R.

NorfolkNChance · 31/10/2011 21:33

Loving the Matthew and Edith idea

Just seen the latest ad.......M & M SNOGGING!!!

Lord G doing the stern father forbidding Pickle from "ruining her life"

...and a Cora-like hand flopping dead-like on the bed covers Sad

NorfolkNChance · 31/10/2011 21:38

Maybe M&M will go to Gretna?

AKMD · 31/10/2011 21:39

I didn't see snogging, just dancing. What did I miss?

Bossybritches22 · 31/10/2011 21:47

Well it looked like a snog...will look more closely next time!!

ScatterChasse · 31/10/2011 21:50

Was Mary ever really interested in P though? She was marrying him, but I don't know how well they actually knew each other.

And she hasn't seen him for 7 years, thinking he was dead, and now she's so protective of Matthew. She was very close to tears in that scene saying how unfair for Matthew it was.

plupervert · 31/10/2011 21:53

I'd like to know what happened to Sybill's trousers! Why is she wearing outdated, uncomfortable clothes from her long-ago Season, when she had a pair of rather splendid trousers made? I seem to remember that they were peacock blue. Surely she can't be too shy to re-make a statement she has already made?

OliviaTwist · 31/10/2011 22:00

'You're 21' could equally mean 'you are over 21' as mean 21, I reckon.

LeBOOOf · 31/10/2011 22:04

Yes, I took it to mean she was over 21.

LeBOOOf · 31/10/2011 22:05

Oh, and yy to the trousers! Maybe Sybil will sport the trendy new hair of the Parisiennes?

bubbleschimp · 31/10/2011 22:17

oooh i just found / saw spoilers sits on hands to avoid posting . its gonna be a tear jerker

plupervert · 31/10/2011 22:20

"trendy new hair"

It would be a shame for Sybill to lose her lovely locks, though. Edith and Mary and Cora would all look nicer with bobs. Bates would look like Grayson Perry.

LeBOOOf · 31/10/2011 22:20

Yes, I've seen some corkers.

funnyperson · 31/10/2011 22:24

May I join in? I think Bates murdered his wife and Carlisle is gay. Mary marries Matthew who throws over Lavinia who marries Carlisle. Lord whatshisname has an affair with the maid and produces an heir throwing Matthew's nose out of joint. Cora dies. Daisy turns out to love Thomas. Four weddings and a funeral: Sorted, do you think? Except for the lack of cake, perhaps.

LadyHarrietDeSpook · 31/10/2011 23:44

can someone pls pm me the juicest spoilers? One in particular i'd like to see...have found one site but...

TipOfTheSlung · 31/10/2011 23:46

and me please

TipOfTheSlung · 31/10/2011 23:58

Thanks BoF

LadyHarrietDeSpook · 01/11/2011 00:00

yep!

(watching it again. Fecking creepy the way Sir R calls Anna into what I think is Pamuk's old room. Closes the door. Then offers the bribe. You can tell she's got the heebies. BUT weirdly he doesn't seem to be in the spoilers. so what happens to him?)

Good thing this ends next week...

LadyHarrietDeSpook · 01/11/2011 00:15

okay michelle dockery is laughing at the scene where matthew stands up. She is actually laughing. worth rewatching. amaze that ds can keep straight face.

BustersOfDoom · 01/11/2011 00:49

Yes diddl Mrs Hughes and Mr Bryant senior are married in real life. Many years ago, in a past life, I worked with Phyllis Logan (Mrs H) and she was lovely.

I am really wanting something unpleasant to happen to Sir R but I fear the flu will not get him. And Mary was spectacularly unpleasant in the last episode but as others have said it could just be her realisation at being forced into a corner and having to marry the odious git making her lash out.

Can't believe we're on to the last episode already though. So unfair why can't JF write it like Casualty or Holby so it just keeps on going and we can keep having a weekly fix?

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 01/11/2011 07:09

Watched it last night with DD. What a pile of poo. It really has begun to resemble a soap opera.
DD was particularly unimpressed by Pickles and Ethel stopping for the night. She said that if you were on the run to GG you would keep going. In her 10 YO mind, Pickles could teach her to drive so they could take it in turns.
I think Bates killed Mrs Bates and hope Anna gets a lucky escape.
I am off to look for spoilers now.

diddl · 01/11/2011 07:33

So is it going to be that Lavinia dies & Sir R gets found guilty of murder,/Edith accidentally runs him over thus leaving M&M free to marry?

Will Lavinia die before or after marrying Matthew?

I think Mary would look awful with short hair-she´s got a really jutting chin.

I only care about Edith tbh!

diddl · 01/11/2011 07:39

Could someone also pm/link/point me in the direction of spoilers?

Very pretty please?

KeepInMindTheFireworkCode · 01/11/2011 07:49

Branson is a wife beater if ever you saw one, also voted most likely to start an IRA cell

Thomas is a nasty little so and so I hope he tops himself

Anna needs to stop saying how happy they are going to be/are as every time she does it all come crashing down

Jane (in todays world ) would either drag "your lordship" to a tribunal or tell all to the NOTW

Bates wife deserved to die

O'Brian needs the slapping of her life (send he to Branson)

Mary is a bitch, I like her Grin

Edith

Sybil needs to grow up, maybe marry someone called Basil and open a hotel by the sea
