The only contestant with the Xfactor in the UK version is Misha. The rest of them are crap.

OliviaMumsnet · 14/10/2011 23:04

Ooh what channel?

FearfulYank · 14/10/2011 23:12

Pure they are definitely not auto-tuned! You can tell the difference...watch Glee! :) They're just good singers.

LadyEvilEyes · 14/10/2011 23:21

You've missed it Olivia.Sad Smile
Thursday and Friday ITV 2.
And yes, Misha is the only one that stands out by a mile in UK X Factor..

banana87 · 14/10/2011 23:26

I'm enjoying my 4 days of x factor Grin
I don't know any of the names in the US version.
The UK version is sucking so far, NO real talent other than Misha. And the UK judges are pretty full of themselves, ESP tulisa.....

midnightexpress · 15/10/2011 09:23

I think this week they've switched days haven't they? There was a clash with a baseball match in the US or something and the first show got piushed back a day. So int he US they're showing it Thurs and Sun and here it's Friday and...dunno, Sunday? Monday?

I definitely thought there was something going on with the sound last night. Some of the backing tracks had singers on them for one thing. But that aside, some of them were so good. The Purple Rain lady was ace. I fear the combination of Nicole Scherzinger and Enrique Iglesias though - it's like asking two slightly dopy sheep to judge.

forehead · 15/10/2011 20:12

The woman who sang Purple rain was fanrastic. She was 42 fgs,. She looked fantastic.
There's so much talent on the US version.
I really cannot bear NS,she irritates the hell out of me.

NotInTheMood · 17/10/2011 11:18

The purple rain women is called Stacey Francis she looks so much like Diana Ross she is one of my favourites. I saw the judges home part 1 on friday but when are they showing part 2?

midnightexpress · 17/10/2011 12:00

I don't know. I think it was on in the States last night, so perhaps tonight?

YY to Stacey channelling Diana Ross. I thought that too. Love her. It's interesting that the overs category is sooo much better than it ever is in the UK. That 'last chance' thing seems much more powerful in the land of the American Dream, somehow. Though I am perhaps reading too much into it. And I could happily do without the James Brown man and his platform boots in the live shows, tbh.

popadop · 17/10/2011 19:50

Thurs at 8 and Fri at 9.

Two more episodes at judges houses.

midnightexpress · 19/10/2011 10:32

ooooh SPOILER ALERT - DON'T CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHO GOES THROUGH.. HERE

popadop · 19/10/2011 19:23

Some suprises there for me.....................one in particular............

PumpkinIroning · 19/10/2011 19:50

Louis has wrecked the UK version by putting Goldie and Johnnie through. It annoys me that real talent will be lost. He's only fit to judge 'Britains got talent'.

FearfulYank · 20/10/2011 01:05

Ooooh...EXCITING!

Nothing to say, just marking my place :)

StickyGhost · 20/10/2011 19:45

Damn, just ruined it for myself by reading the article! Couple of shocks in there I agree

NotInTheMood · 20/10/2011 23:38

Oh no don't know if I want to read the spoiler or not eek. So hard to choose who will go through!!!

OP posts:
midnightexpress · 21/10/2011 14:56

Oh bother. I watched pretty much the whole show last night and still somehow managed to miss Melanie Amaro, my favourite. Was she good?

Love Josh too. His voice is like warm treacle. Mmmmm.

SootySweepandSue · 21/10/2011 15:02

Definitely not watching the UK one. It is embarrassing....

I do believe what I read about Cheryl Cole being kicked off the US one as she was "overwhelmed" (Simon Cowell). Well yes as the contestants have 10x more talent than her!

I love the precocious 13 yr old too even though I hate myself a bit for doing so.

midnightexpress · 21/10/2011 15:14

True about Cheryl, though Nicole S is not exactly overflowing with talent, is she? I hate the way she looks so confused once she's heard them sing and asks if they are marketable. As if nobody who is not perfectly coiffed and 7 stone nothing could possibly be a hit with the public.

FearfulYank · 21/10/2011 15:31

I love Rachel and don't think she's bratty at all!

I miss Cheryl actually, and still wonder why she had to leave.

Was shocked to see that Josh has a thirteen year old daughter! Holy buckets.

LeBOOOf · 21/10/2011 15:34

The American version is so over-produced though. They are singing to full backing groups (with crowd noise and autotune/reverb etc, I'm cconvinced), and it just doesn't seem very authentic to me.

FearfulYank · 21/10/2011 15:37

The judges house performances did seem a bit echo-y...but I've seen some of Cher Lloyd's later performances (and others) and there are definitely backing vocals. I think it's just what they do.

I'm pretty sure they're not autotuned though. But that's why the auditions are my favorite part really...they just stand there and sing.

FearfulYank · 21/10/2011 15:40

Apparently auto tune has been banned on the XFactor. Allegedly.

PureBloodMuggle · 21/10/2011 21:34

without a shadow of doubt it's auto tuned, not even the singers who can sing get every pitch right.

Odd that everone of then at this stage get it spot on, every single time. Even wth all the dancing in some cases.

Not buying the 'they are simply better in the usa'. It all sounds like it's been done in a studio already

PureBloodMuggle · 21/10/2011 21:35

*that's pitch right all the time
