It starts again tonight at 7:50 tonight :)
Will any one else be watching?

OP posts:

I'm glad Uther's stuck in a chair not running on. Honestly, too many episodes have a plot line of Uther pouting and shouting about magic being evil and then having to let magic save the day before redeclaring magic as evil again. All summed up with Gaius raising an eyebow and intoning 'sossery!'

I really enjoyed it. Tis bunkum, but fab bunkum.

ShowOfHands · 03/10/2011 10:57

And Arthur, fgs, if your uncle turns up just as your Dad's having a breakdown and seems all nicey, nicey, he bloody isn't. Have you learnt nothing?

Dumbledoresgirl · 03/10/2011 11:02

LOL SOH, to both your posts! Grin

I can't imagine Uther is going to stay stuck in his chair gaga, can he? I mean, not much of a part for Anthony Head, if he does. And only so many times Arthur can come and weep over his father and give Gwen a sneaky kiss on leaving (is Uther blind as well as gaga?) I am hoping Uther will rally enough to decry magic at least one more time (preferably, just at the point when Merlin's magic has become apparent to one and all, and yes, I include Arthur).

Agravaine - man in black. Why do characters in stories never grasp that a person who chooses to attire themselves entirely in black is always a baddun?

Loving these posts!

I liked the 1st episode though I think they tried just a tad too hard. I mean- us girlies didn't have to wait long for a bit of Arthur-torso action, did we? Grin. As for the darkness- def. darker- in fact, imho, exactly as scary as Dr Who was when I was 9, 40 years ago (whereas the new Dr Who, over the past 3 odd years is waaay too scary for primary aged kids, all psychological mind-messing... at least, for those kids who don't get to play on Call of Duty and who haven't seen 'Saw', thus apparently thrusting them into the minority...).

I am a bit disappointed in the new easiness of Arthur and Merlin's relationship- I liked the servant/master tension. And when Snape walked on (or whatever Uncle's name is) I wanted to shout at the telly 'Oh FFS, Arthur, HOW dumb ARE YOU?'

However, DSs, 10 and 12 liked it and let's face it, it's aimed at them, not me, Arthur's body notwithstanding!

widdles · 06/10/2011 16:05

dd2 and i have just spent an hour with the cast whilst they were filming.
They film all the forest scenes at a local attraction called puzzlewood and i stopped to take a photo froma distance and a man asked if we would like to meet arthur and his noble knights.
How amazing and gorgeous they all were

Erebus · 07/10/2011 11:36

Erebus faints. Yum.

NinkyNonker · 08/10/2011 20:46

Lancelot is dead! How does that work!

Erebus · 08/10/2011 20:50

But is he really 'never to be seen again'?!

FeelMyWraith · 08/10/2011 20:52

widdles, did you lick touch fondle get to say much to them?

Lance ain't dead.

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/10/2011 21:32

Ooh Widdles, did you touch them? Can I come and touch you?

I live relatively near Puzzlewood too and the kids and I always shout "puzzlewood!" when it comes up in the show, it is so distinctive. I wouldn't have the nerve to go there during filming though. I would make an utter fool of myself if I ever had to share air-space with Bradley James.

Lancelot ain't dead. Noble sacrifices always end in life being restored. Anyway, the series trailer shows him having a snog with Gwen.

smugmumofboys · 08/10/2011 21:43

Seriously. Could Lancelot be any more gorgeous?

Was swooning like a daft thing. At least I'm not quite old enough to be his mother.

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/10/2011 21:48

Haha! I just googled Santiago Cabrera (what a sexy name even!) fully expecting to be old enough to be his mother, but actually I just miss out on that - hooray!

Arthur and Merlin, on the other hand....Sad

smugmumofboys · 08/10/2011 21:52

Me too. Sad

FeelMyWraith · 08/10/2011 22:22

Santiago Cabrera is 2 years older than me. Blimey. I blame my hard paper round.

Loved that episode, my god Lancelot is hot. Blush

HoneyPablo · 09/10/2011 08:02

Lancelot
[swoon]

widdles · 09/10/2011 08:03

Dumbledoresgirl spent loads of time with arthur and tom hopper who plays percival, the others where doing choreography for a fight scene. we do the same thing and everytime puzzlewood is on we shout "we have walked there" or "we know where that bit is", it is very surreal.

A few months ago we got to meet ewan mcgregor and nicholas hoult cos they were filmig a new film called jack and the giant so can't wait for that one.

lagrandissima · 09/10/2011 08:03

The version of Merlin that is broadcast now and then on CBBC seems to be re-edited - i.e. when someone gets a knifed, you see an angry face, someone raising a weapon, then the baddy lying on the floor with his eyes closed. I swear that sometimes I think the background music jumps too.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, will a cut-down version of the new series, suitable for 5-6 y.o.'s be ready for CBBC soon?

Dumbledoresgirl · 09/10/2011 09:45

Lagrandissima - I once saw one episode on CBBC and can confirm that it is definitely edited - I know the original episodes rather too well Blush. They cut violent bits (in so far as you can say any of the original was violent...) and sometimes miss out whole scenes. The original episodes are about 43 minutes long and I think the CBBC cuts make them about 30 mins? I have no idea if they will continue to do this though, as this series seems much darker. If you cut the scary bits, you might not be left with much!

Widdles - Arthur and Percival - omg. Any nice stories to tell about them? And Ewan McGregor too. Ye gods, I might start hanging out at Puzzlewood.

mrsbossyboots · 09/10/2011 14:06

Why have they killed off Lancelot????

I swooned with you HoneyPablo and am now in mourning...

scaevola · 09/10/2011 16:41

Lancelot can't be killed off.

We don't really know the effect of stepping through the smoke, but he'll step out again at some point.

Ripeberry · 09/10/2011 18:58

Is puzzlewood open at this time of year?

widdles · 10/10/2011 08:05

Puzzlewood is open nearly all year round now. Last year we did a haloween pumpkin hunt and went to see father christmas. We get alot of discount vouchers in our local free paper which is really good too.

Dumbledoresgirl i just stood swooning and they spent ages talking to dd about her merlin obsession, let her hold their swords and that sort of thing.
