Don't tell me it's back and I missed it! Angry

Repeats???

Whenisitmysleepytime · 07/02/2012 14:34

Wednesday is the second half of the current season. (if that makes sense) it's back from its stupid mid season break.

I bloody hate mid season breaks! Whose bright idea were they?!? Hmm

anonacfr · 07/02/2012 14:48

Stupid American TV networks. They have shows that run from september till may. Problem is most of them are no more than 24 weeks so they have to have multiple breaks.

So it starts tomorrow night then??? yay!

Anyone knows if theyre going to carry on the show? Apparently it's too expensive to produce and they were talks of it ending at the end of this season unless it could be pick up by a different network?

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2012 17:44

yes starts tomorrow night again and hopefully will re cap it for thick blondes Grin

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 15/02/2012 11:37

so any explanations ??

OP posts:
anonacfr · 17/02/2012 23:56

You'll have to be more specific.... What I'm concerned about is that Peter is so desperate to get home- but does he actually have a home to go back to? He seems to think he's from a third dimension where he and Olivia are in love, but from the viewers' perspective he was definitely from this world. But then why doesn't he remember Fauxlivia and the affair?
It is very confusing isn't it?

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2012 12:38

fringe always confuses me - but im blonde Grin

but yes, why so desperate to go home

Hi Blondes. Wallflower was basically a bit of a dull filler episode. I think the only real points to take from it are that Olivia is having migraines, she is having feelings for yet another one of her partners at work. The man who the episode centred around was experimented on as a baby by Cyprox Inc, a subsidary of Kelvin Genetics which later became MAssive Dynamic. It left him emotionally stunted and Olivia is worried that the cortexiphan trials have done the same to her (Astrid said she has regular therapy sessions to deal with what she sees working at Fringe whereas Olivia isn't phased by anything at all). She discusses her concerns with Nina. At the end, Olivia is knocked out and injected with cortexiphan so that she won't remember the last two hours, Nina is behind the hit team.

Next episodes continue the whole 'Olivia's head hurts a lot' thing and it turns out Walternate is not behind the new shapeshifters but it is David Robert Jones who has crossed between universes before and was thought dead. He seems to be working with alternate Boyles and evil Nina Sharp. We see an observer telling Olivia she has to die in all futures, but he doesn't actually say why and for what purpose. We now know that Fauxlivia's powers are not as developed and she cannot/is not aware that she can cross sides at will.

This is all very vague and probably very obvious to you but it's all I've got!
Most importantly this week we learnt that Gene still exists and is living with Walter at Harvard, yay!

I don't think Peter's universe exists, this was his universe but he changed it when he went into the machine.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2012 13:43

Thanks and no none of it was obvious to me lol

But was fab to see gene again :)

Bloody hell, missed episode 8 which i think it restarted at as didnt know it was back on, so just watched last weeks episode 9.

Can anyone clear up the following:

Is broyles a shape shifter now?
How is broyles on the other side, hes dead over there.
In fact how are peter, lincoln and broyles going fom obe side to the other seemingly quite easily?
What happened to faux-livias baby (that i think was peters from when she was over ths side pretendng to be olivia)

I am more confused than when i was watching lost Grin

please help?

GeneCowan · 22/02/2012 08:05

Disclaimer: this is my own personal take on Fringe and is probably entirely wrong.

When Peter entered the machine and then disappeared the universes changed. Peter seems to think he has come from a third universe and needs to get back. Whether that is the case of whether the machine just altered these two universes time lines I don't know but we do know that:
Broyles is now alive on both sides as the event where he was killed didn't happen,
Peter never existed so Fauxlivia never slept with him and baby Peter never came about.

There is a special room in an underground secret cave under a top secret FBI building where both sides can come together and meet.

They also have equipment they can use to cross over to the other side in certain 'soft spots', such as the theatre.

anonacfr · 22/02/2012 09:54

At last someone who thinks like me! Peter doesn't have a home, he already is home but refuses to accept it.
Have we ever heard anything about an AlterNina and AlterBell by the way?

And wouldn't it be funny if Fauxlivia and 'our' agent Lee got together?

I'm wondering if AlterBroyles is a shapeshifter or just a traitor who works with Jones. And what Jones actually wants- is he just trying to stay alive or does he have an evil agenda- and what the hell does he want with Olivia? I can't believe Evil Nina adopted her only to use her and secretly program her for whatever evil purpose. But Peter willl save her.... Grin I love Fringe!

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 22/02/2012 12:20

Hello,
I am newly hooked on Fringe having caught season 1 late night repeats on sky 1. (mainly for Joshua Jackson fix!)
Does anyone know if Sky will be showing season 2&3? Or will I need to buy/rent/download them?

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 26/02/2012 00:24

Anyone?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2012 12:36

tbh i dont know, they do show repeats sometimes

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2012 23:47

Blondes is bumping this as needs explanations as usual Grin

OP posts:
GeneCowan · 23/03/2012 13:34

Anything in particular Blondes?? I can give you a general overview from my point of view, but whether I am right I have no idea! I am loving Fringe at the moment but think a lot of it is going straight over my head!

So, Jones kidnapped Olivia and tortured Nina in an effort to trigger Olivia's cortexiphan induced powers. Olivia seems to be able to recall both Peter Olivia's (Polivia?) memories as well her ones of being brought up with Nina. Turns out this Nina is the alternate one and is working with Jones, whilst Broyles and co are interrogating the real Nina. Peter is brought in and Olivia uses her powers not only to turn on the lights in the box but to help them escape. Jones and AlterNina cross over back to the other side after Jones seemingly caught a bullet when Olivia shot him Hmm

Peter meanwhile had gone into the Observer's mind where we learnt his codename was September and he was from one possible future of the human race who had developed the technology/power to travel all the way through/inside/outside of time to learn about their origins. Peter learns that he had a son with Fauxlivia, that it was a relationship that was never meant to happen, and Henry was someone who was never meant to exist. We learn that September thinks Peter is incredibly important, that he was always meant to live but it was he who distracted Walternate from finding the cure to save him which is why he interfered later so that Walter would save him. He stressed how important it was the Peter ends up with the original Olivia which leads to Peter once again rejecting this Olivia, saying he has to go home.

However... I definitely think that this is the original Olivia. When they were trying to search through the videotape for old underlying footage, Walter compared it to a 'palimpsest' (SP?), a scraped manuscript, where what was underneath can sometimes bleed through. This seems to be a metaphor for what is happening to Olivia, that her old original memories are beginning to bleed through her new persona. Perhaps it is happening to her because of the cortexiphan that Jones and AlterNina have been secretly injecting her with, and that's why it is not happening with anyone else?

I'm sure I have missed loads of important things so hopefully someone else can fill us in on the rest. Is AnnieK still around??

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/03/2012 20:54

Omfg

How do you work these things out or do you google it for an easy explanation lol :-)

OP posts:
Anniek · 25/03/2012 19:52

Genecowan.... Yes that is pretty much my take on it, that there are only two universes we care about, and Peter some how can't / won't die, and that because of the injections Olivia is remembering the "life" she lead before.

Still not 100% how / why Peter is so important, now he has "corrected" Septembers mistake by not exisiting in Walters "the blue" universe, I don't get why he still matters so much Confused

I've returned to full time work now, so working pretty long hours, so not on here anywhere near as much as I used to be sorry Blush I do miss discussing this show with you ladies Thanks

GeneCowan · 26/03/2012 05:30

Glad you are still keeping an eye on the thread AnnieK to keep us on track!

I sometimes google the episodes Blondes but whenever I do I realise how much is going straight over my head! Apparently there are 'glyphs' (letters I believe) hidden throughout the episode and you are meant to find them and they create a word that links to the storyline or something. Even after I'd read about them I have still never actually seen one Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/03/2012 21:31

we need you annie to explain, so come on every wed night/thur am and discuss x

OP posts:
anonacfr · 27/03/2012 10:46

Well Peter isn't meant to exist in any universe. If he hadn't gone to the blue universe as a child, he would have died in the red anyway.

I think this Olivia is his but because he had a glimpse of Fauxlivia and his betrayal he thinks he's about to do the same to the 'real' Olivia and wants to go back to what he thinks is his world.

I think he's important because ultimately Olivia has something to do and she needs Peter to trigger her powers.
So we now know that FauxNina and FauxBroyles both work with Jones. Still not sure what their purpose is though, and who exactly is in charge of the shapeshifters? Where's the typewriter???

GeneCowan · 27/03/2012 13:03

My understanding is that Peter WAS meant to exist in the red universe as Walternate had invented the cure to save him, this was an important event so September wanted to witness it and in the process distracted Walternate from seeing he had discovered the cure. That's why September has gone out of his way to save Peter because he was not meant to die in the red world.

I've no idea about Jones/shapeshifters/typewriters etc, absolutely clueless!! Interesting thought that Peter is only important because he is a trigger for Olivia, I like that idea.
