If I want my house sold, I wanted presented in the best light....Mary, if a dress in a shop was modelled by a trog, in bad lighting, you wouldn't be impressed, and would have words with the retailer.

If I want to buy a dress for £9.99 I acept I will have to queue on a Saturday afternoon to pay fo0r it as the store can't budget for masses of staff.

Loved the last series, am disappointed in this one. Mary, you are starting to make a tit of yourself. Shock

LynetteScavo · 09/02/2011 21:19

OOps...the Op reads like I have been drinking Wine.

Which I have.

i like her

philip however and his dicky hair....

bettiejane · 09/02/2011 21:22

This show is utter bollocks!

cyb · 09/02/2011 21:22

I dont quite understand the structure of her latest series.

Mary goes into branches, has crap service.

One chain of (unknown) shops decides to ask for her help, help duly given.

THEN Mary and all her hangers on march down Oxford Street with loud hailers and stampede into the other shops.

Whats the point?

SueWhite · 09/02/2011 21:23

YANBU I have a massive lack of sympathy for the entire premise of this new series. You want to buy a pair of jeans for 7 pounds AND great service. Well tough shit, you can't have it. You won't die if the shop assistants don't smile at you.

LynetteScavo · 09/02/2011 21:27

DH became strangely defensive of Philip's hair and said "How much dye do you have on your hair , love?"

As DH is a bit of a short back and sides man, and I dye mine, I kept quiet.

Hmm Grin

That was when She commented of Philips hair gel use.

Incase you weren't following.

I have never liked her although she has some good shoes!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/02/2011 21:33

This series is crap. Don't understand what she's trying to achieve here really.

MmeLindt · 09/02/2011 21:33

I loved the last series, but am not even watching anymore this series. Just too silly.

TheCrackFox · 09/02/2011 21:34

I only watched the first in the series. We might have crap customer service in this country but it is surpassed by the amount of shite TV on offer.

sheeplikessleep · 09/02/2011 21:34

she scares me Grin

Ivette · 09/02/2011 21:40

she is brilliant!

BellaMagnificat · 09/02/2011 21:41

I love her actually but do agree this series is a bit all over the place.

I'm with her on the old agent-lingo though.

Katisha · 09/02/2011 21:43

I haven't watched since the first one.
Call me over-British but actually I don't want to be chatted to merrily by shop assistants. It embarrasses me. I wish they'd stop doing it in JOhn Lewis.

itssnotfunny · 09/02/2011 21:49

i only saw the csl one which i thought was just a big PR thing for CSL in the end.

ng1412 · 09/02/2011 22:03

If you check Martyn Gerrard's sales particulars on Rightmove (can't get on their own website as it keeps crashing), you will see that they are still using the jargon, so not sure it achieved anything.

Shame as I do like Mary!

turnitup · 10/02/2011 08:58

Agree with others, this series is crap.....shame I really liked the last one where she actually helped people run better businesses

1234ThumbWar · 10/02/2011 09:02

Sadly I agree too. I love Mary, she's my girl crush but this series is a bit pointless. It smacks of 'aren't I great'.

What would be fab would be Mary giving style advice - now that I would even pay for.

kittya · 10/02/2011 09:29

I love Mary but, I hate to say this, I watched the first episode of this new series and never bothered again.

Of course Primark is like a jumble sale, is what we expect and will put up with for the cheapo fashions!

thenightsky · 10/02/2011 09:43

I agree that this latest series is a bit of a waste of time.

I'd love to know whether mad cake shop woman from the last series (i've been in this business 34 years) is still actually in business though.

ReturnOfTheBoomBap · 10/02/2011 09:48

Very funny watching this episode, as I know a few f the people involved Grin. I don't think Mary Portas achieved a single thing.
The whole shebang was strictly for the cameras, and has given Martyn Gerrard a good bit of publicity, basically.

oiwhatsoccuring · 10/02/2011 09:53

She has also taken a dive fashion wise too. She used to look great, imho, but now looks like a belisha beacon who got dressed in the dark.
I think this series is just an ego massage for her,a chance for her to shout and be rude to lots of men. Please note that there have been no women bosses on this series.
I have to say the changing rooms she came up with in the first programme, were pretty swish,
and loved the idea of paying for items as you come out of the changing booths, rather than having to queue at the tills again.

teta · 10/02/2011 10:02

I think Martyn Gerrard came over as a total idiot [i hour training!].I though Mary Portas [while looking increasingly like Cruella de Ville] did well not thumping him at one point.
