Anyone else going to watch?

OP posts:
McDreamy · 19/01/2011 20:07

I heard her on the radio today, I think I will watch!

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 19/01/2011 20:08

yes i am. i loved her BBC2 show, 'mary queen of shops' and teh charity shop one aswell.

what is this new one called?

bluebump · 19/01/2011 20:10

Yes i'll be watching, I love Mary.

Sherbert37 · 19/01/2011 20:40

She goes undercover, wigs included, as a sort of mystery shopper. Preview showed her in Primark asking for harem pants.

MrsChemist · 19/01/2011 21:04

I'm watching. I missed last weeks though. I loved Mary Queen of Shops. She's ace.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/01/2011 21:06

Did she just use the word 'bunfight'?

Grin
dustycups · 19/01/2011 21:08

why pick oxford street primark?! you expect chaos in there!

PuppyMonkey · 19/01/2011 21:10

That was Nottingham primark.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/01/2011 21:11

it looked like our local Primark as well... same crap on the floor, same crazy queues...

MrsChemist · 19/01/2011 21:15

Chaos exists in every Primark.

PuppyMonkey · 19/01/2011 21:16

The term fast fashion is making my teeth itch a bit.

TheCrackFox · 19/01/2011 21:22

This is a bit boring TBH.

TheCrunchyside · 19/01/2011 21:24

minimum wage, poor job security, no training, poor career advancement, snotty customers - and Mary wonders why they are not smiling!

PuppyMonkey · 19/01/2011 21:27

I'm not sure I even agree with her so far. Who wants cringey sales assistants coming up to you all the time? I like being left alone thanks.

And the changing rooms were a disgrace?? Hmm

TheMightyToosh · 19/01/2011 21:27

I really don't WANT shop assistants jumping on me while I'm browsing, so I hope she's not going to tell them all to do that... hate that...

Changeisagoodthing · 19/01/2011 21:31

I hate being approached. My local Hobbs know that if they approach me more than once (and I decline to be assisted) I will walk out.

I once saw one run across the floor tomstopna new girl approaching me. The more that I am left alone the more than I spend.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/01/2011 21:33

I don't want shopping assisstants constantly asking me if I'm OK either.. I DO want them to be available and to be helpful if I need some help looking for something/finding the right size etc.

Sherbert37 · 19/01/2011 21:34

Her website is a bit strange. Retailers are ranked by comment. Mappin and Webb is first but only has one review ( for a £4.5k ring!)

OP posts:
TheCrackFox · 19/01/2011 21:34

I hate being approached too (thought it was only me) and if I want something I am more than capable of asking for help.

My number one hate is when shop assistants try to recommend a look.

TBH I generally get good customer service as I treat shop assistants as my equal.

applecrumbleandcream · 19/01/2011 21:40

How right you are The Crunchyside - I wouldn't be smiling on £5.90 an hour!!

TheCrunchyside · 19/01/2011 21:42

it is sweet/slightly mad how mary porter seems to genuinely believe that her campaign is on a par with Jamie's school dinners or hugh factory chickens.

jasper · 19/01/2011 21:43

I have to disagree.
I have worked in shitty low paid retail jobs ( pre minimum wage )
WHy would I not be friendly and smiley to the customers?

applecrumbleandcream · 19/01/2011 21:44

He doesn't want to spend a million on customer service - look at his face! He doesn't care as long as he carries on making a profit!

TheCrackFox · 19/01/2011 21:45

The programme would have been improved by only being half an hour long. It is just full of waffley bullshit now.

Service will improve in this country when managers put down their pens and spend a bit more quality time on the shop floor.

PuppyMonkey · 19/01/2011 21:45

Her changing room idea is naffola. Patronising.
