I heard her on the radio today, I think I will watch!

yes i am. i loved her BBC2 show, 'mary queen of shops' and teh charity shop one aswell.

Yes i'll be watching, I love Mary.

She goes undercover, wigs included, as a sort of mystery shopper. Preview showed her in Primark asking for harem pants.

I'm watching. I missed last weeks though. I loved Mary Queen of Shops. She's ace.

Did she just use the word 'bunfight'?

why pick oxford street primark?! you expect chaos in there!

That was Nottingham primark.

it looked like our local Primark as well... same crap on the floor, same crazy queues...

Chaos exists in every Primark.

The term fast fashion is making my teeth itch a bit.

This is a bit boring TBH.

minimum wage, poor job security, no training, poor career advancement, snotty customers - and Mary wonders why they are not smiling!

I'm not sure I even agree with her so far. Who wants cringey sales assistants coming up to you all the time? I like being left alone thanks.

And the changing rooms were a disgrace??

I really don't WANT shop assistants jumping on me while I'm browsing, so I hope she's not going to tell them all to do that... hate that...

I hate being approached. My local Hobbs know that if they approach me more than once (and I decline to be assisted) I will walk out.

I once saw one run across the floor tomstopna new girl approaching me. The more that I am left alone the more than I spend.

I don't want shopping assisstants constantly asking me if I'm OK either.. I DO want them to be available and to be helpful if I need some help looking for something/finding the right size etc.

Her website is a bit strange. Retailers are ranked by comment. Mappin and Webb is first but only has one review ( for a £4.5k ring!)

I hate being approached too (thought it was only me) and if I want something I am more than capable of asking for help.

My number one hate is when shop assistants try to recommend a look.

TBH I generally get good customer service as I treat shop assistants as my equal.

it is sweet/slightly mad how mary porter seems to genuinely believe that her campaign is on a par with Jamie's school dinners or hugh factory chickens.

I have worked in shitty low paid retail jobs ( pre minimum wage )
WHy would I not be friendly and smiley to the customers?

He doesn't want to spend a million on customer service - look at his face! He doesn't care as long as he carries on making a profit!

The programme would have been improved by only being half an hour long. It is just full of waffley bullshit now.

Service will improve in this country when managers put down their pens and spend a bit more quality time on the shop floor.

Her changing room idea is naffola. Patronising.
