Anyone else going to watch?

OP posts:
jasper · 19/01/2011 21:46

The bored clothes shop girls who are all smiles in the cafe - that's down to the fact that they are the taking part in an experiment and are on TV - a well documented psychological phenomenon!

TheCrackFox · 19/01/2011 21:47

"Do you feel like a Gaga moment this morning".

No, now fuck off.

MrsChemist · 19/01/2011 21:47

I agree with jasper. I've posted about this on another thread, but money earned doesn't necessarily equate to effort.

Although getting paid more would make dealing with abusive customers perhaps more tolerable.

KurriKurri · 19/01/2011 21:47

DD has just said 'I am the target market for shop like this and changing rooms called Kylie Cheryl and Rihanna would make me vomit.'

Changeisagoodthing · 19/01/2011 21:47

The customers look more like they want cliff Richard rather than lady gaga.

TheCrunchyside · 19/01/2011 21:48

lol at KK's dd

Katiekitty · 19/01/2011 21:49

Imagine the state of the fitting rooms afrer seven days though.

And (I've worked in retail) after a customer has done a poo in Kylie or Lady GaGa...

TheCrackFox · 19/01/2011 21:49

I did raise an eye brow at the vomititous names of the changing rooms. Britney? Puhlease.

Changeisagoodthing · 19/01/2011 21:51

Nice ring on mary- I wonder where that came from.

PuppyMonkey · 19/01/2011 21:59

Well that was awful. Why on earth did she leave the Beeb?

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 19/01/2011 22:01

that was shite. i was clock watching the whole way through, waiting for the good bit to start. disappointed is an understatement.

TheCrackFox · 19/01/2011 22:02

Don't think I'll bother next week.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/01/2011 22:05

I think the changing room idea is genius. I'm guessing it'll appear a bit more to the teenage/early 20's market of Pilot (rather than us lot Wink) and the idea of being able to buy what you've tried on, on exit from the changing room is brilliant.

Everything she's talked about is the reason I don't shop on the high street anymore.. I hate the fucking free-for-all C&A jumble sale feeling to shopping.

jasper · 19/01/2011 22:28

jareth I agree with all of what you said!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/01/2011 22:47

I love it when people say that!

begonyabampot · 20/01/2011 00:11

I couldn't really understand this. The customers of these kind of shops generally don't care less about being greeted on entry etc. they are usually young, or skint and just want cheap clothes. The owners are raking in a fortune as it is and she want's then to spend a few million on CS when it won't necessary generate any more sales? Agree i've been put off by queues and just left the shop but would the majority care? The only winners are the shop assistants as i think this could make their job better, give them a sense of self esteem and pride in their work.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 20/01/2011 00:18

begonya - I disagree.

As a teen, shopping in Topshop/Miss Selfridge etc I always got pissed off at not being able to try things on. jeez... I remember being 8 and in C&A and being pissed off with the jumble sale style of merchansiding and huge queues for the changing rooms/tills.

Teenagers generally only have the weekend to shop, why should they put up with shitty customer service? They may not complain, but that might be because they don't want to/don't feel confident enough to.

Having worked in retail for many years it makes a very big difference as an employee to feel valued and to have pride in your work. Having an arsehole manager who doesn't give a shit really makes your working life hell...

begonyabampot · 20/01/2011 00:22

Just wonder what the impetus is to the owners if they are already raking it in. I said i agree that it will benefit the workers and make their job better.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 20/01/2011 00:36

Lower staff turnover will be the biggie, but you're right, people like that don't give a shit about their staff..

PuppyMonkey · 20/01/2011 06:53

Well, if kids are pissing about in the sparkly new style changing rooms and nipping in and out to have their photo taken on that camera thing, I imagine the queues to the changing rooms are going to be even worse. That would piss me off.

GandalfyCarawak · 20/01/2011 08:55

Absolute turd. And I am usually a fan of Mary.

I feel she's lost her grip on what the public actually feel. I don't expect to swan into Primark and have an assistant at my beck and call. I expect to have to look for what I want.

The changing rooms would appeal to seven-year-olds. They would just get on my nerves. And I don't know anyone of any age thatwould tweet a picture of themselves trying crap on.

"We have to do something about this." No, not really. She could have gone after the ethical side of cheap fast fashion, but instead it made us look like moaning indulged arseholes that couldn't be arsed to look for a coat ourselves.

Oh, and Mary- If queuing at a H and M makes you feel "clinically depressed", I suggest you get help.

cornflower123 · 20/01/2011 09:41

Just posted on the other AIBU thread. Had to turn off half way through as found the programme too annoying. I don't think there's too much wrong with service in shops generally in this country, and if there's occasionally bad service I just put the item down and walk out. The whole thing was just patronising. I already know I don't have to spend my money there thanks! I don't like being followed round shops by assistants and feeling pestered either. Just feels insincere and false. I did agree with not really liking hugely untidy stores . ie Primark on a Saturday, but then those shops make their money by having minimum staff numbers on the floor, but making sure there's enough people on the till. In my book, they get it right. If I want top customer service (and prices) I'll go into John Lewis.

mousymouse · 20/01/2011 10:09

I want to be acknowleged in a shop not jumped on. if I need something I ask. if queues are too long I leave the shop and don't buy there. simples.

found the show boring btw.
