So apparently Ronnies baby will die of SIDS she will run to vic for help realise Kats baby is crying and swaps babies .

What a load of shite ! Fact !

I don't watch EE anyway but I have never heard anything so stupid . Now ok it is only what I have read in the paper but it is ridiculous to think that a mum would find her baby like that and do something so insane .

MayorNaze · 12/11/2010 10:20

sick.i may boycott ee if that is true :(

travellingwilbury · 12/11/2010 10:29

I agree about it being sick , hard to know the whole story because obv it has not been on yet and I know they have to make shocking storylines but is a baby dying not shocking enough for them ? They have to go and make it ridiculous .

4andnotout · 12/11/2010 10:31

That's horrid :( I wont be watching it if it is true.

MayorNaze · 12/11/2010 10:31

maybe it is just me but it seems to be getting more and more far fetched of late (yes yes know its not real)but stil, there are lines and i think this crosses it :(

Jdore · 12/11/2010 11:18

I'd better not watch, thanks for the warning x

serajen · 12/11/2010 11:36

'tis a pile of shite, think producers or directors or whoever are desperately trying to win viewers back, it's not working

lazarusb · 12/11/2010 11:53

That is obscene if it's true. What do the writers and producers think they are achieving by screening stories like this?

nomorecake · 12/11/2010 12:10

do the babies look identical???

pile of shit story line.

Can't belive the FSID guy is pleased! Surely they are going to have to realise straight away what's happened. Who isn't going to realise their baby's been swapped? I assume they are both the same sex Hmm

forevervacuuming · 12/11/2010 12:30

WTF?!

I am going to write to both Eastenders and FSID and point out that while it is of course it's good to raise awareness of cot death, to portray and stigmatise parents who have sadly gone through it like this is just wrong Shock

Eastenders - Contact us
FSID - Contact us

Surely this story relies on Ronnie not bonding with her baby in the first place, so relies more on the issue of post natal depression anyway.

QueenOfTheNight · 12/11/2010 12:35

Hasn't this already been done by Sunset Beach and Footballer's Wives?

It was shite and in very poor taste when they did years ago. I don't often watch EE but think I'll be avoiding it totally from now on.

And Hollyoaks QueenOfTheNight

forevervacuuming · 12/11/2010 12:49

Have emailed FSID with the following:

'Dear Sir or Madam,

I have just read an article on the announcement of the intended Eastenders New Year's Eve storyline, which quotes your director's gratitude for this depiction.

I am writing to register my dismay that this is an angle supported by the FSID and, for your information, have also written to the Eastenders team with the following feedback:

"I was very sad and angered to read of the storyline proposed for New Year's Eve, when Ronnie is due to swap Kat's baby for her own, which has died from cot death.

The awareness raised about cot death will be completely overshadowed by the issue of the post natal depression which has presumably prevented Ronnie from bonding with her baby enough that she would refrain from doing this.

Your broadcast will further stigmatise parents who have already suffered from this sad experience, including relatives of mine, and I find it obscene that you would portray them in this way.

If you do go ahead our family will not be watching Eastenders in the future."

Yours faithfully,

forevervacuuming.'

tillywee · 12/11/2010 12:58

I also can't believe Kat wouldn't know it wasn't her son....you would know something like that

bathbuns · 12/11/2010 14:12

I can't believe this sort of thing is supposed to be entertaining. I stopped watching EE a couple of years ago because I wanted to slit my wrists after every episode. I have a very poor opinion of the writers and producers but I'm afraid of the actors and actresses too if they don't protest about hideous storylines like this. It's just grief porn. Horrible, horrible stuff.

potplant · 12/11/2010 15:40

It doesn't say anything about Kat not noticing that the baby isn't hers, I don't think they would do that .

I agree with Pixie though - in the context of Ronnie's backstory, I can see how it would be believable ie she would do it, rather than it be the norm for other parents.

Lydwatt · 12/11/2010 17:51

Dear lord, this sounds pants!!!

I will not be watching..... Sad

Northernlurker · 12/11/2010 20:05

This is a dreadful storyline. Apparently the idiot executive producer said ''Although EastEnders is a fictional drama we have, of course, taken great care to thoroughly research this storyline, which will reflect a issue close to the hearts of some of our audience.'

Eh? Eh? Exactly how many people do they think have responded to the death of their child by nicking somebody else's?

Hmm Angry

blametheparents · 12/11/2010 20:27

That's horrible.
What a terrible storyline, and can't bear to see Ronnie with anymore sadness.

PotPourri · 12/11/2010 20:39

ta for link, Have emailed. It's sick and I'll stop watching if it goes ahead. Cot death, yes. Cot death then mad crazy storyline of nicking another baby - swapping fgs - no. Ronnie already rejected someone elses baby (sam's) - no way would she walk away from her own baby to pretend someone elses is hers. They're not replaceable - don't they know that? They're not a friggin doll!

I am so pleased to see others who agree that this is madness . I will also be e mailing them my feelings on this .

It was stupid enough when Carol Jackson slept with his sons friend after he died , also a daft story line .

Bereaved mums instantly lose all morals and turn into idiots apparently .
