Is anyone else watching this? It's about the abuse that people with learning difficulties are subject to.

It's by Rosa Monckton who made the excellent 'When A Mother's Love Is Not Enough' documentary.

It's not going to be easy viewing.

I am but it's so bloody depressing, as the mum of an autistic boy Sad Angry

maxybrown · 19/10/2010 22:47

yes me Hmm what's the matter with people eh?

daisy5678 · 19/10/2010 22:47

Well, it would be depressing anyway - just gives it an added twist of depressingness.

siblingrivalry · 19/10/2010 22:48

I have a daughter with Asperger's. I wanted to watch this, but just couldn't do it -am frustrated at myself Sad

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 22:50

It's horrific,and sickening.

I can't understand what these people get out of tormenting others like that.

OP posts:
maxybrown · 19/10/2010 22:51

I can't even begin to imagine what causes people to do this. How shit

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 22:55

I really like Rosa Monckton. She seems so lovely.

I want to punch all of those idiots who were shouting at Kelly. I'd enjoy it,bunch of tossers.Angry

OP posts:
MrsChemist · 19/10/2010 22:58

This is sickening Sad

theywillgrowup · 19/10/2010 23:01

thought things had improved, obviously i was wrong

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 23:02

I don't know why constant verbal abuse is considered to be 'low level'. It's frightening, demeaning and can wear one down as much as physical abuse.

OP posts:
varicoseveined · 19/10/2010 23:02

WTH is wrong with people? It's 2010 and society is still barbaric.

theywillgrowup · 19/10/2010 23:04

the carers/faimilys should get a medal, take my hat of to you MNers who deal with this crap daily, makes embarrassing viewing to think others can do such terrible things

maxybrown · 19/10/2010 23:04

They should come round near me - plenty of dog sh** they could be picking up instead of treating people like this Angry

That poor lad feeling guilty for his family Sad

theywillgrowup · 19/10/2010 23:07

oh their at Moores Valley near me,bet he had a fab day there

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 23:10

What use is there in putting up five more cameras if sod all is done about the behaviour?

OP posts:
Meglet · 19/10/2010 23:12

I was watching it but wimped out halfway through as I've already cried too much today.
I will try and get it on iplayer, should have taped it really.

Has anyone from the police been on to explain why they don't take it seriously?

ThighsWideShitItsAGhost · 19/10/2010 23:12

It makes me feel ashamed that these animals breath the same air as me and you. This issue of hate crime has been ignored for far too long.

shabbadabbadingdong · 19/10/2010 23:13

I am ashamed that I am British - revolting specimens who are abusing these people. Im sorry, because I know its not very PC, but if any of my 4 sons abused people like this I would beat the shite out of them.....Angry thing is I have wonderful sons who are compassionate and caring BUT I would come down like a ton of bricks on them if they ever dared to do this.

My friends lad is autistic and I fear for him as he grows up (he is 10) and goes into this god awful world we live in.

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 23:16

It's those thugs who need to be separated from the rest of society, not those with learning difficulties.

I'd be happy to donate towards purchasing an island that we can dump them on,and leave them to torment each other.

shabbadabbadingdong · 19/10/2010 23:18

Count me in with that brilliant idea Letthere

maxybrown · 19/10/2010 23:21

Oh poor Christopher Sad

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 23:24

What did Christopher say, that made Rosa reply 'You don't really mean that'? I missed it.

OP posts:
shabbadabbadingdong · 19/10/2010 23:24

Christopher keeps making me smile - he is very witty - hope he gets the job.

shabbadabbadingdong · 19/10/2010 23:25

Whoo Hoo well done Christopher - thank gawd there are some people who 'get it'

LetThereBeRock · 19/10/2010 23:27

I'm thrilled for Christopher. He'll be an excellent employee. It's frustrating and sad that it's taken so long for someone to realise that.

I hope there's a follow up documentary. I'd love to know how he's getting on.
