Can anyone explain what's going on? What's the deal between Gavin and Peter? Why's Cassie suddenly snogging Gavin? Did Peter have something to do with Paula?

Well, I think we find out next week. I suspected Gavin was Peters son but, that would be too freaky.

Interesting theory...He certainly seems to be punishing Peter for something heinous.

Did you not see the version that was on tv in the 1970's. I'm guessing not. I was only a young child but I can remember the story line being very risque at the time.

I wasn't allowed to watch it either yet I clearly remember Frank Findlay and Susan Penhaligon as Peter and Pru.

This time round I am recording them all on V plus as they are not being shown in Scotland. I will watch them all on a rainy Saturday when DH takes the boys out. I only hope that Gavin is as yummy as I remember.

gavin cannot be peters son he was talking to cassie about paula being sat next to him in peter's tutorial group. i guess peter slept wiht paula when he was a lecturere and she was s tudent , she then comitted suicide and gavin is either her old boyfrined or brother out to get revenge on peter by taking away his daughter ? but wot the hell granny in th enursing home has to do with it i am not sure, please can someone tell me i cannot wait until next week. i do not like pru she is ver manipulative of both her father and her clearly troubled husband....

I don't think I particularly like any of them but Trevor the programme is quite compelling.

They've changed the plot so much for this adaptation. I've read the book & last saw the original series 3 years ago. All the Paula thing & the stabbing of Gavin is new. I'd read an article which said that they were adding a thriller plot for today's audience. The original plot is so good that i don't think that it is necessary, but I am enjoying this new version.

mummydoc, i reckoned gavin is peters son, was he not saying that peter was sitting next to paula at tutorial - when they were both students? Alternatively Gavin could be paulas brother, but then why would the gran know about him?

I think all of the characters are hateful. And the interaction between the main characters is totally unrealistic. People just don't talk to one another like they do in this. I know they are obviously trying to re-tell the original but I haven't seen it and I just find the behaviour of the Gavin character utterly absurd. Having said that I am still watching it.

I don't think Paula is Gavin's sister. Why would he punch Pru in the face when she asked him what happened to Paula if Paula was his sister? And why would you have a tattoe with your sisters name?

I reckon that Gavin is Peters son, Paula was his mother. Will turn out that Pru is adopted or isn't Peters daughter. I could be wrong. Granny knows about him but the family never did as Peter kept them away from Granny. Don't know if Peter knows he had a son.

Gavin is young enough to be Peter's son.

still do not think gac is peters son he said that peter and paula could be heard all through the halls of residence one night ...however of course that would make gaving old enouhgt to be at uni with peter which doesn't work - i still reckon peter was a lecturer who had an affair with paula. and gav is somehow related to paula and is now re inacting scenario with peters daughter to get revenge ....though as my husband pointed out not to hard to seduce beautiful, nubile 18 yr old hardly a hardship for old gav, especially as he is now enjoying the beautiful Hermoine Norris too :)

But why has Cassie suddenly fallen for Gavin, even though she knows he punched Pru? She's supposed to be a relationship counsellor FGS and it's not like she's someone who can't control her feelings. Seems very unrealistic to me.

If Gavin's Peter's son that means he and Pru are committing incest, but surely if that's where they were going with this they'd have picked two actors who look like they could be biologically related? Can't wait for all to be revealed...

well, we know from the uproar of the original that incest was strongly hinted. Im not getting it from the father and daughter - yet!! Unless, he isnt her father?
