Neither. What age is he @needanearlynight and what do you think he needs it for?

I'd be tempted to snaffle it up when it arrives and see if he mentions it 😉

EchoedSilence · 23/10/2025 10:19

How old is he?

needanearlynight · 23/10/2025 10:20

hes 15! wants to buy cider

Daisymay8 · 23/10/2025 10:20

Is he an illegal immigrant?

BeachLife2 · 23/10/2025 10:21

I would be more concerned about you hacking his Snapchat account tbh. Could be very nasty consequences for that.

Daisymay8 · 23/10/2025 10:21

Sorry read first as DH not DS

Buiderswoe · 23/10/2025 10:23

15 is on the young side but getting a fake ID is a bit of a right of passage. It was quite the industry at my school…amazing what you could do with an Apple Mac and a laminator 😂. I suspect they are much more sophisticated these days though!

needanearlynight · 23/10/2025 10:23

hes not an immigrant. hes a 15yo with a penchant for strongbow. i dont want to reveal my hand re the snapchat.. but he DID add the payee to his bank account and i was notified about it.. so i can kinda keep my powder dry on that.

Don't worry, it will look shocking and be taken off him the first time he tries to use it. Mine spent £90 on one and it lasted two attempts. Sympathy was extremely limited (although I do have some sympathy that he is young in his year and all his friends are 18 now, it's much harder to get in to bars etc than it was when I was their age!)

flossydog · 23/10/2025 10:24

A 15 year old would likely see his private communications being spied on as a serious breach of trust. The risk of a breakdown in your relationship is probably bigger than whatever mischief he might manage with a fake ID.

shutuporsaysomething · 23/10/2025 10:25

its quite common to be honest. I have some sympathy with teenagers these days, we used to be able to sit in a lovely warm pub at 15 with our cider.

I’d turn a blind eye as long as it’s just a couple of drinks with friends and he wasn’t up to anything anti social or dangerous but have a conversation about alcohol.

shutuporsaysomething · 23/10/2025 10:27

agree the secret access to Snapchat is more of a worry- it’s basically like your mum reading your diary and picking up the extension to hear your phone conversations was back in our day.

WhoaaaBodyform · 23/10/2025 10:50

Who are you going to grass him up to?!

BadgernTheGarden · 23/10/2025 10:52

He shouldn't be drinking, so if that's why he's getting id you have to stop it.

utamea · 23/10/2025 10:58

15 is too young to drink. Brain (evidently) and liver aren’t fully developed.

Ivyy · 23/10/2025 12:36

How on earth do you have secret access to his Snapchat op, or do you just know his password? I’m half impressed and half disapproving!

Rollergirl11 · 23/10/2025 14:27

I thought that you can only be logged in to Snapchat on one device at a time so if you log in from your phone it will log him out of his?

I do think it’s potentially damaging to your relationship with your DS if he finds out you’re snooping, which is very much what you are doing!!

needanearlynight · 23/10/2025 17:52

don't open @needanearlynight hide it in the biscuit tin 😊

londongirl12 · 23/10/2025 18:12

Me and my friends all have fake NUS cards when they were accepted to get into clubs. This type of thing has been around for years!

Vodkamartini3olives · 23/10/2025 18:16

No, don't open. Plucking up the courage to take those ciders up to the till and holding your breath to see if they accept the ID is a life experience isn't it?. I remember the 1st time I used someone else's National Insurance card to buy fags I almost passed out!

Flamethrowers · 23/10/2025 18:20

all the kids do it now. at my Childrens school one students organised about twenty people together and they sent them off in bulk to an instagram fake ID person and got them all a discount. lasted for two years 16-18 of pubs and clubs.

CrikeyMajikey · 23/10/2025 18:50

He’ll likely be able to buy booze in a corner shop if he looks old enough and confident but probably won’t get into bar. At least that’s what I’ve found with my 2 DC. You could report the shop I suppose. But kids have always done this, doesn’t make it right.

needanearlynight · 24/10/2025 10:35

Ffs. I went on his snap again (don’t judge me). His mates on about getting tattoos now they have fake ids

OP posts:
Twoshoesnewshoes · 24/10/2025 10:39

Haha
