It’s going to be a busy weekend for him!

Keep your powder dry - you'll need it for when he pulls out the big guns.

Has he used his own name? You could have fun with that.

needanearlynight · 24/10/2025 11:54

Yes. What do you suggest ?

Seriously I know everyone is very ‘oh don’t look at their Snapchat it’s an invasion of privacy’ I m through these years but I believe you should look at their Snapchat if you are concerned! I didn’t my child was buying coke on it. I didn’t look- this would have seemed impossible to me - but if I learnt anything from the horrific teen years we had it would be check their phone.

So. Quick update. Looks like ds has been scammed to the tune of £20. Or 5 shifts of his paper round.
No fake id and a life lesson for him
And I didn’t have to show my hand re Snapchat

so. We’ll see what next week/month brings in the roller coaster world of teen parenting

Missing the point of this thread, but 5 shifts of paper round? How many papers does he deliver, as that seems very low?

My DC deliver 25 papers each weekday and get paid £7 a day.

Awwww bless

SirChenjins · 26/10/2025 11:52

Oh dear OP - a hard life lesson for him 😂

labradorservant · 26/10/2025 12:45

Has he fessed up then? Or has no post arrived? Unless he sent it to a friend…..
DS managed without fake ID much to our surprise. Think DD might proceed differently. I used to borrow my friends driving license. Think we’ve all done it.

needanearlynight · 27/10/2025 11:11

Nothing arrived and I think he’s been scammed. Seems the seller has pocketed his £25 and blocked him
I don’t think he sent it to a friend. And it also looks like he gave the scammer his real name
. what a div. So now a scammer had his name addrsss and his cash. Ffs

I’m intrigued by all the “invasion of his privacy” comments.
my ds is 13 and I believed I was being a good parent by thoroughly checking his phone, so is there a cut off between 13 and 15 or do the invasion of privacy people also think I shouldn’t be checking a 13
year old’s phone?

TheaBrandt1 · 27/10/2025 12:14

Sorry to break it to you but most of them have it. Well the ones that want to socialise do.

Goosyloosy · 27/10/2025 12:20

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs of snooping in his snapchat, if you say he’s been scammed, is there not a risk if the scammer has his bank details they can scam him of more cash?

15 is on the young side but getting a fake ID is a bit of a right of passage. It was quite the industry at my school…amazing what you could do with an Apple Mac and a laminator 😂. I suspect they are much more sophisticated these days though!

I had quite the little business running in school. My Mum used to work in a university library and for some reason was forever bringing home this laminate stuff to cover our school books and things.

Our country used to do these "Validate" Cards to give to kids, had the age you turned 12, 15, and 18 on them, handwritten by the teacher, with a photo on then laminated. God knows why they issued them, I suppose so we could get into 12 or 15 rated films! Anyway, I'd carefully paper over the dates, rewrite them, and relaminate them. £20 a pop, and I was minted!

Went spectacularly until my 18th birthday. Ripped the fake bit off my Validate card to reveal the original dates. Didn't bother taking my drivers licence out because didn't want to risk losing it and didn't need it with my trusty Validate Card. Rolled up to the nightclub we'd been going to for the last 2 years, handed over my card to the bouncer who took one look at todays date on it, recognised me as someone who'd been showing up for years, and said "Nah, we don't accept these any more. Too easily faked."

Home by 11:30pm on my birthday. Gutted.

Ehhba · 27/10/2025 14:39

I'd cut the fake ID with scissors

I would be more concerned about you hacking his Snapchat account tbh. Could be very nasty consequences for that.

You’ll soon change your tune when you’re a mother of a teenager.

I am the mother of a teenager. It’s illegal to hack someone’s social media account, regardless of whether they’re your child.
