Do 14 yr old boys wear jeans?

Do any of your 14 yr old boys own a pair of jeans??

My son only wear sports bottoms and hoodies. Probably 2 winters ago he would wear a shirt and jeans but now he owns neither.

He is going on a theatre visit with school and they stipulate no sportswear or hoodies.

Are jeans a real no go for teenage boys nowadays?

My boys wear cargo pants pretty much exclusively

hippoherostandinghere · 14/10/2022 16:30

No, not at all. Tracksuit bottoms or shorts here. Under duress for special occasions he may wear a chino type trouser if he can't get away with shorts. Even DD (11) doesn't wear jeans.

littleducks · 14/10/2022 16:33

Like a pp mine hasn't worn jeans or proper trousers since lockdowns apart from to school. Lives in joggers, mainly unbranded plain ones so not really sportswear more lounge wear

fudgefiesta · 14/10/2022 17:00

I find it really frustrating that my DCs will only every wear trakkie bottoms or sports shorts, but reading through this thread it seems to be the norm. Some of their friends wear baggy skater type jeans but that's be cause they are skateboarders.
However we went to a wedding recently and both of mine were very up for wearing a three piece suit for the day. With trainers, of course Grin

Marblessolveeverything · 14/10/2022 17:31

We had this earlier this year - compromise made was combat trousers and v neck fitted plain top, Vans and a smart(ish!) jacket.

NotMeNoNo · 14/10/2022 17:43

I think they are either a jeans kid or they aren't

One of mine only wears jeans and black hoodies of obscure bands.
The other only wears joggers and sports like gear.

If it's a sensory thing I would go for the least sporty pull on trousers possible like these faux jeans and a non logo sweatshirt.

Interesting to hear about all the joggers. They are a nightmare in this house, as to be long enough, we need seriously adjustable waists, and can't achieve that.
Where to skinny joggers wearers buy from? I'm talking 165 tall, with a 23 inch waist.

Fellow mum of a beanpole here too - I think my son is very similar in build to yours with ridiculously long legs 😂I posted a while ago asking the same question and ended up with some age 14 John Lewis joggers - they are still way too baggy but not totally hideously so. No idea about smart trousers although at a push the JL school
trousers in slim/long could work?

Damnautocorrect · 14/10/2022 17:54

Who do these clothes fit?
there seems a real market for teen boy beanpole clothes

slimiscoming · 14/10/2022 20:43

Nope, my son is 12 and a sport fanatic. Jeans are too restrictive (apparently) I always had him
Dressed gorgeous she he was a toddler- wee jumpers and shirts with body warmers and chinos and swore he'd never be a tracksuit wearing child.... how silly of me 🤔

EssexCat · 14/10/2022 20:47

mine does for ‘formal’ wear - but is much more likely to wear combats. Joggers are for casual.

TinaYouFatLard · 14/10/2022 21:16

14 year old DS refuses anything except joggers and shorts. He goes to a school without a uniform so this is every day!

fastandthecurious1 · 14/10/2022 21:41

Mine SS didn't wear jeans from 11-15! Now they do at 16&19

Passthecake30 · 15/10/2022 07:27

My 14 yr old has recently requested jeans, he’s very skinny. I managed to find black slim/skinny river island jeans in next that are 26” waist 32” leg and he wears a belt (he’s more like a 24” waist, 5ft 8). They don’t look that different to his black skinny joggers while on tbh.

whiteroseredrose · 15/10/2022 08:44

This is a revelation, a fashion shift.

Mine (now 19 and 22) live in jeans, as do I. Always have. Never had joggers except for PE.

Is this an after effect of lock down?

MrsDrSpencerReid · 15/10/2022 08:56

alrightfella · 14/10/2022 08:52

Nope would never wear jeans...

I actually did laugh at previous post at the thought of ds or any of his friends wearing jeans and a blazer unless under absolute duress or threat.

I would just buy a pair of v cheap black skinny jeans

Why would this make you laugh?

We went to a theatre with a dress code, he didn’t wear a blazer to the bloody supermarket!

NormalNans · 15/10/2022 08:58

Mine never wore sports stuff, we would have to go and buy some for any sporting related activities outside of PE kit.

Always jeans, mainly skinny.

FruitPastilleNut · 15/10/2022 09:03

Ds 14 does own 2 pairs of jeans - but he is forced into them under duress when we're going somewhere that he absolutely can't wear joggers or cargo shorts to.

He would absolutely never choose to wear them!

Glittertwins · 15/10/2022 17:32

Success, he found a pair he liked and will wear!

CactusPeach · 03/11/2022 12:11

Mine doesn’t, he will wear cargo shorts and slim cargo trousers though.

spiderlight · 03/11/2022 13:59

Mine does. Refuses to leave the house in joggers/tracksuit bottoms. If he has PE last lesson and walks home in his kit, he changes into jeans as soon as he gets in. A year or two ago he refused to wear jeans and lived in joggers, though!

Claretmum · 03/11/2022 14:07

My almost 18 year old looks like he has fallen out of of JD sports most of the time, the rest of the time he is wearing CP Company (the new Stone Island) which is smart but has it's connotations 🙄🙄... He does own a pair of jeans from H&M which he will wear if he is going to a party or the like..he's quickly realising that he needs some 'going out' bottoms! 😄

Notplayingball · 03/11/2022 14:10

DS lives in black jeans. Occasionally black combats.

wingsandstrings · 08/11/2022 14:21

At 14 my DS was in head to two nylon sport-wear - he was a walking adidas advert. However now he's 15 and has a cool girlfriend. He's generally in jeans when they go to gigs or out to eat or into London. I notice that quite a few of his friends are also wearing jeans at social events (London state school . . . . dunno what the trend is elsewhere).
