Do 14 yr old boys wear jeans?

Do any of your 14 yr old boys own a pair of jeans??

My son only wear sports bottoms and hoodies. Probably 2 winters ago he would wear a shirt and jeans but now he owns neither.

He is going on a theatre visit with school and they stipulate no sportswear or hoodies.

Are jeans a real no go for teenage boys nowadays?

My teen boys only wear tracksuit bottoms - they've not worn jeans in years!

CoffeeIsForClosers · 14/10/2022 00:23

My 14yo does, yeah. He's always refused to wear jogging bottoms for some reason. It's not fashion, he doesn't care about that. He just likes jeans, t-shirts and hoodies.

NoYouSirName · 14/10/2022 00:38

Mine does, but has no interest in fashion or clothes whatsoever. He would wear anything.

ClaryFairchild · 14/10/2022 00:43

My 15 and 13 year olds don't, but that's more comfort than fashion.

StillNotWarm · 14/10/2022 06:50

Interesting to hear about all the joggers. They are a nightmare in this house, as to be long enough, we need seriously adjustable waists, and can't achieve that.
Where to skinny joggers wearers buy from? I'm talking 165 tall, with a 23 inch waist.

Oblomov22 · 14/10/2022 07:44

Yes. Most do. Some don't and don't like them. Apparently on a recent 2 night year trip, year 9, most boys had a pair of jeans packed, and then worn.

Oblomov22 · 14/10/2022 07:47

Joggers and sports shorts for day wear is common, the norm. But they are casual. chinos or jeans are smarter, that or a smart pair of trousers might be required if you went somewhere smarter? Say a posh restaurant?

Hoppinggreen · 14/10/2022 07:49

Mine doesn’t wear jeans.
Hes got a couple of pairs of trousers from Uniqlo that are kind of half trackies half trousers which he wears when full trackies aren’t acceptable

PinkHeadphones · 14/10/2022 07:50

Mine does. He has two pairs of skinny jeans from Next.
My 12 year old doesn’t, he prefers tracksuit bottoms/ joggers/ whatever they are called now.

itsalwayscycling · 14/10/2022 07:58

Mine wears black skinny jeans to school so
will wear the least wrecked pair of those if we have to go somewhere where trackies not appropriate boy otherwise it’s trackies or shorts all the time.

statetrooperstacey · 14/10/2022 08:00

My 16 yr old hasn’t worn them in years and neither do any of his friends.

toomanyflapjacks · 14/10/2022 08:02

Mine lives in joggers but has a couple of pairs of skinny jeans - i insist on the jeans if we're going out for a meal or similar!

For fellow mums of beanpoles- mine used to wear John Lewis' own brand joggers which were fairly narrow in the waist. Those ones are now too short for him and we've moved onto Jack and Jones and one random pair with a brand name I'm trying to remember (I want to say Faded?? Got them from Next, anyway). None are perfect but they're not ridiculously baggy at least!

RedToothBrush · 14/10/2022 08:06

Teenagers here seem to go to school in uniform and then wear black Nike uniform after school. It's completely hilarious

Damnautocorrect · 14/10/2022 08:08

mine doesn’t own joggers. Only jeans. Mixture of skinny ones and wide leg skater.

illiterato · 14/10/2022 08:09

@RedToothBrush I drove past the boys' school on mufty day and honestly they made it look like a jail - 1,200 boys in identical grey tracksuits Grin

MrsDrSpencerReid · 14/10/2022 08:14

My DS13 wears jeans when we go out, as do most teenage boys around here (Aus, beach town)

Tracksuit bottoms (what you call joggers I think?) around the house/popping to local shops. Denim shorts or board shorts in the summer.

We went to the theatre 2 weeks ago and he wore lightish blue jeans with a navy blazer and a plain white tee underneath, he looked amazing and I got lots of lovely pics of him for the Grandparents along Sydney Harbour while we were there too 😄

alrightfella · 14/10/2022 08:52

Nope would never wear jeans...

I actually did laugh at previous post at the thought of ds or any of his friends wearing jeans and a blazer unless under absolute duress or threat.

I would just buy a pair of v cheap black skinny jeans

Glittertwins · 14/10/2022 11:12

Mine used to but now lives in joggers. Proving to be a bit of a problem with an up coming wedding as he's not wearing them!!!

Blanketpolicy · 14/10/2022 13:33

from 10-17 ds, at any point in time, had just one pair of black (or very dark washed blue) jeans that he only wore for parties, christmas type things.

Now he is 18 he has a few pairs for socialising, but still wears sports bottoms for uni and when generally out and about.

thedoofus · 14/10/2022 15:09

14yr old DS here - never wears jeans, lives in tracksuit bottoms/shorts in summer.

I've bought him a pair of the jean-joggers mentioned up thread, but can't even get him to wear them really.

DH is almost the same - but will wear jeans/trousers if, e.g., going to a restaurant.

Chasingsquirrels · 14/10/2022 15:12

My now 20 & 16yos have always worn jeans.

GingerPushkin · 14/10/2022 15:48

My 16 year old has spent the last few years in shorts and t-shirt- absolute bare minimum- for comfort I guess
Now at 6th form he has to wear jeans and actually doesn't mind. I bought a pack of 5 slim fit jeans for about £50 from H and M. They fit well and obviously much cheaper than actual school uniform

Sunfunsurf · 14/10/2022 15:55

Is anyone buying branded joggers for a 28’’ waist and 34” inside leg?? I’ve given up looking. Jeans or black combats only things I find for those sizes.

Rooster67 · 14/10/2022 15:58

2Tall do 30/34 if that’s any good. They go up to 38” leg!

zighead · 14/10/2022 16:00

My 16 year old DS does and has lots of different pairs. He is not interested in the Nike tracksuit look that lots of teenage boys like though.
