Who let's there young teenager keep there phone in their room at night? My Son is 13 and is adamant everyone is allowed their phones in room and all his friends talk at night and he's the only one not allowed.

We turn wifi off at 11 and limit data. 15 year old phone is handed in. 17 year old keeps his. He’s often tired so I know he’s reading /on his phone anyway. We just try to get him to think about cause and effect and don’t give him too much data!

No my girls have to hand it in. They are unable to regulate their time on it and if not in a routine my eldest's behaviour is dire. By dire I mean physically and verbally aggressive with violent meltdowns.

Mine aren't - and it's a discussion we have fairly regularly. Mainly because DD1's best friend (who is a kid that we love to bits too but is parented differently to mine) has pretty much unpriced tech access and has in the past tried to call DD at like midnight, and she can be a bit pushy leading DD into stuff and it's a hell of a lot easier on DD if I'm in the vicinity and can play bad cop for her.

Don't want to block the friendship as the girls are incredibly close and they're lovely kids - but it does need someone to keep a bit of a handle on it at times (they've moved away so it's all via phone these days) and I know the parents of the friend are dealing with a lot of shit at the moment so the kids are left to their own devices pretty regularly.

Nope. Ours are not allowed tech upstairs. Solves lots of problems. Also both have google family installed and phones are very regularly checked. When they pay for their own phone they can make their own rules but at 13/11 they need to be guided/protected.

Not at all for ds12, only weekends and holidays for ds16 and that will become not at all as exams get closer.
