Drunk teen!

My DD is 18 next month. Yesterday she met up with a friend in the park- first time since lockdown. She came home drunk at 8pm after 3 hours out and got sick on her bedroom carpet!
They went to a supermarket and bought 8 cans of cider, which they drank in the park! I can't believe it!
How should I handle it? I'm in shock! She's normally fairly reserved!

Depth charges. Pint of cider with a shot glass of Pernod dropped into it - still in the glass. Lethal.

Coldemort · 15/05/2020 17:35

Do they still sell reef? Tasted just like orange juice. And Red Square I think was the predecessor of vodka and red bull...
Ah memory lane. I remember our student union selling half pints of baileys for £1 as they'd found a crate in the back that was out of date... had to get the train to Nottingham the next day doing little bailwys sicks in my mouth.
Anyway OP your kid will be fine. We're all still here x

softjellycell · 15/05/2020 17:46

These kids don’t know how good they have it with craft beers and nice gin

We had craft beers when I got very drunk had a couple at a beer festival back in the 1980s.

madmumofteens · 15/05/2020 17:46

Martini 🤢 still can't stand the smell 30 years later

DrDavidBanner · 15/05/2020 17:51

Does anyone remember Thunderbird?
I'm feeling a bit sick thinking about it!

RobertSmithdoesmyhair · 15/05/2020 18:01

You guys are killing me! GrinGrin
Any kind of shock I had about my DD had just fizzled awayyyyyyyyy!

Op you would of hated me as your daughter then. First time I got drunk was 12 on old English cider on the beach.....wasn't pleasant.

Racheyg · 15/05/2020 18:07

@Biscuitbiscuits

I do 🙌🏻 although we called them lungs.

We used to drink hooch, mad dogs, and woodys
We used to wait out side the corner shop and ask older kids to get them for us.

Bouledeneige · 15/05/2020 18:09

You're pretty lucky that it's the first time she has done this at 17. It's a rite of passage. I have had to pick both my kids up from parties in the past for being too badly drunk. Pre lockdown obviously and younger than 17. I never told them off because throwing up and having a headache is punishment enough. They both said sorry afterwards. Been there done that.

Jocasta2018 · 15/05/2020 18:10

Terrible memories about Thunderbird...Confused

Racheyg · 15/05/2020 18:10

Anyone remember cherry wkd now they were nice.

We used to put a straw over the side of in the bottle of Metz and down it. Yes very classy

Staywithmemyblood · 15/05/2020 18:11

@Biscuitsbiscuits @Coldemort - I bought some hooch recently, having fond memories of drunken teenage nights with my friends. OMG, the hangover! 😫 I'd forgotten that part. Never again 😇 Luckily gin doesn't give me a hangover 😊🍸

@RobertSmithdoesmyhair - just get DD to clean up and come join us in our reminiscing 😉🍺

FuckYouCovid · 15/05/2020 18:15

My DC who is almost 18 (month or two) doesn't really drink very much but does have the occasional drink at home. They have asked that I put a small bottle of vodka in the weekly shop.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 15/05/2020 18:23

How lovely for her

To have some fun

You don’t need to do anything IMO

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 15/05/2020 18:24

I say this as a parent of a 17 yr old Grin

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 15/05/2020 18:25

I did the same in Freshers week. Don’t worry, it’s a lesson for life.

ScorpionQueen · 15/05/2020 18:29

Just remind her about not making herself vulnerable when drunk. Mine are 17 and 18 and that's my only nag.

But it sounds like she had a much needed lovely time.

MyWitzEnd · 15/05/2020 18:31

Why was she out?

softjellycell · 15/05/2020 18:32

MyWitzEnd Are you always such a spoil sport?

Off you pop and go and rearrange your collection of cuddly toys.

iklboo · 15/05/2020 18:35

Why was she out?

Because she can go out as long as she socially distances?

pollyhampton · 15/05/2020 18:37

I was talking to my 16y year old ds about how lucky he is to have dark fruits Strongbow. I might buy some 20 20 just to make him see how we suffered!

CalmConfident · 15/05/2020 18:40

A timely picture...

Drunk teen!
NaomiFromMilkShake · 15/05/2020 18:41

My 19 yr old got rip roaring drunk last night, none of your cider nonsense, tequila sunrises and Harvey wallbangers, he politley interupted my book club zoom to let me know he had just finished the tequila. Grin

I have no problem with it, he has been outstanding for the last eight weeks and sucked up lockdown due to me being shielded,(or cocooned as we like to call it.) So fair is fair. IMO

Biscuitbiscuits · 15/05/2020 18:42

@Racheyg I remember that, or sending in the tallest one of us to try and get served.

Pieceofpurplesky · 15/05/2020 18:46

@DrDavidBanner it was the vilest drink ever. That and diamond white
