how old is ok for a belly button piercing

my dd is 14 and so desperate I think she will try it with a needle. I think it looks cheap and nasty and her dad will have an absolute cow. Help advice opinions please!

Crisis averted - she got a mobile phone upgrade (free) instead.

When she said ' I'll get my best friend to do it with a needle' I laughed and said 'enjoy'.

It hadn't occurred to me that nobody would do it to her at 14 without permission from me.

But between you and me, if I had a tummy like hers I would want to adorn it with jewels and get everyone to look at it too. Sigh! those were the days.
